The Warriors were more than fair to Klay

The Warriors were more than fair to Klay

and let me move on to free agency where Klay Thompson ended his 13-year historic run with the Golden State Warriors yesterday Klay agreed to a three-year 50 million deal to play with the Mavericks alongside Luca donic and Kyrie Irving of course so it’s the end of an era in Golden state where Clay won four titles with the Warriors alongside the great the greatest shooter God ever created in Steph Curry and of course the one and only Draymond Green but this last season was especially tough for clay as his relationship with the franchise became strained over his cont discussions Klay averaged just under 18 points this season his lowest since his second season with the team I want to get to Paul George in just a minute because I wanted to get from from Jason Tatum to Paul George but I’ll get back to that let me say this about Klay Thompson I went back and I looked at some numbers I’m a huge fan of Klay Thompson I think he’s a future Hall of Famer first ballot I think he’s one of the greatest Shooters we’ve ever seen in our lifetime time top five shooter of all time I also think that if Klay Thompson hates the media for life I wouldn’t blame him because if you remember years ago when he was not voted on the all one of the all NBA teams if you remember that right the media cost Klay Thompson $30 million because kemell Walker was put on the all NBA team and Klay Thompson wasn’t and Klay Thompson was Furious about that and he should have been he should have been but when you hear about friction beh him between him and the Golden State Warriors that’s clearly Klay Thompson caught up in his feelings it really really is Klay Thompson under his rookie deal made about $9 million he signed a five-year deal with golden state thereafter that gave him an additional about $68 million if you remember in the 2019 NBA Finals between Golden State and the Toronto the Raptors he tore his ACL okay was out for the entire season next season this was in June the next season he was out I forgot that that July when the Golden State Warriors knew that Klay Thompson would be out for at least an entire year they still gave him $191 million and then he tour his Achilles in a pickup game and was out not just for the 1920 2019 2020 season but ended up being out for the 2020 2021 season he got paid 32 and $35 million he got paid damn near $68 million for not playing a game so in the world of business ladies and gentlemen we can’t sit up there and look at a guy who was paid for not playing they paid you all of these years there’s been slippage in your game to some degree even though he did shoot 45% from the field and 41% from three-point range and averaging about 20 a game after the All-Star break this past season we can’t sit up there and look at Joe lob and the Golden State Warriors and act like they shafted Klay Thompson they didn’t Klay Thompson I don’t believe he believes that I think he wants a fresh start I think he sees kaminga and Pinsky he knows that’s the direction Steve cerr wants to go in he also knows that his playing time is going to be compromised and he doesn’t want that problem he knows that Dallas needs Shooters so him leaving Golden State should not be that big of a news him ending up going to Dallas that’s an obvious choice with Kyrie Irving and Luca donic and what they can do for you because obviously Derek Jones is no shooter neither as PJ Washington even though he can make some threes and so if you got clay out there he opens things up for Kyrie he opens things up for Luca plus he opens things up for Gaff and Lively so it’s it it’s a good thing here’s where the story should lie why the hell didn’t you go to California why don’t you stay in California and go to the Lakers could it be that he didn’t want to go someplace where at least it’s perceived that the Superstar is picking the coach in the draft picks AKA JJ reick and bronny James via LeBron James could that be the case could that be that Klay Thompson didn’t want to be in that predicament or could it be the fact that Golden State obviously they consider the Lakers a rivalry they want Supremacy within the state of California and Klay didn’t want to do that to I don’t know the answer to that question I just know it’s legitimate that LeBron James is willing to take a pay cut um and nobody that he wanted came James Harden stayed with the Clippers Klay Thompson went to Dallas how come the Los Angeles Lakers led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis to a lesser degree couldn’t get somebody to come to La I’m just asking I’m just asking

  1. Going to LA only means you're a potential scapegoat. Not even the coaches are safe lol. Obviously Bronny will get the favoritism as well. Just facts.

  2. I think for Klay it wasn’t more about the money but the intent and aggressiveness of the Warriors to re-sign him was his issue.

  3. Bro it's lack of state income tax and an actual winning team is why he went to Dallas over the shit storm that is LA. You're smarter than what you're saying here.

  4. You guys act like Golden State knew Klay tore his achilles and still paid him the maximum contract. golden state only pays the maximum contract because they think klay only has an acl so don't think golden state is fair, and what is the reason klay has an acl??? is because golden state forces klay to play while hamstringed if golden state gives up the series vs raptors klay will be great until today and not get judges by some dudes on the internet so warriors did own him more than you guys thinks 😂😂

  5. Nostalgia is so toxic, this is a team sports and you can't drag everybody else down if you can't compete like you used to.

  6. I’m wondering if there is more behind the scenes to this story than anyone knows, especially considering Klay turned down more money.

  7. I agree. The warriors disrespected him after all he has done for the team. He is still a great player. Go Klay!!! ThBk you for all the great memories. Go Mavericks!!

  8. Always Loved Klay’s Game. He is needed more in Dallas than in LA. He most likely would come off the bench in LA plus the lakers r one big question mark rn. No one knows what to make of that team. They r pretty much that same team out side of draft picks .

  9. It's heartbreaking to see the Warriors finally coming to an end. I've only experienced this one time before and it was in the 90s with the Chicago Bulls. I'm glad I got to witness basketball greatness in the 2010s that was on par with the Chicago Bulls' historic run in the 90s. Not sure when this will happen again, but when it does, I will resume watching the game on a regular basis until that era comes to an end.

  10. I agree 100% this time. Its really uo to klay if he wants to retire wearing gsw uniform. Im ezcited for next season lets see how will it go for dallas and warriors..

  11. That’s what I’ve been saying. Thank you SAS. Klay tore his ACL but GSW still gave him max contract. No organization would do that. Some organization would even take that as an opportunity to pay you less cause you had a major injury. The timing of giving him contract says how much they value Klay.

If he felt disrespected, why would he take less money in Dallas? He was so good coming off the bench. He was productive with that role. He could’ve prolong his career with the role.

Love Klay but was in his feelings with the past couple of seasons. But it hurts seeing him in a uniform other than GSW. Still hurts.

  12. You make no sense Klay getting paid after injuries he received at work is the same as you getting hurt at work and getting paid. It's called WORKERS COMPENSATION! Smh

  13. How Klay in any way feels disresepected is just fking baffling. Team paid him 2 years when he didnt even play. They offered him basically the same money as Dallas…good luck to Klay but i think GS and fans deserve an explanation of why he left the team for almost nothing

  14. Pointing out he was still paid when he was hurt is moot. Of course they paid him! No favor to him. Had they not, they would have lost him and outraged their fans and the league.

  15. Thank goodness that it is being realized that the Dubs have been fair to Klay Thompson in trying to keep him. Klay got way too far into his head and allowed media and social media to create problems that were not there!

  16. Always dug Klay but he has diminished greatly due to age and injury so time to move on. Let's see if he has a rebirth in Dallas because the way he played this past season won't cut it. Also what body of water lies near Dallas? Thought Klay lived for being on the water.

  17. The offer was fair, yet Klay also made a fair point in the trade. He doesn't want any more drama like the Lakers would bring. He wants to shoot baskets in his final years, and this might even rejuvenate him a bit.
    Farewell, from a loyal Warrior.

  18. idk why people don’t talk about the fact the warriors offered him a 48m extension for 2 years but klay decided to bet on himself but lost, as he showed just how washed he actually is. now, he thinks he’s disrespected? make it make sense

  19. they shoulda not paid him in 2020. He didn't even pull his weight for the '22 ring campaign.

  20. I think Klay could have made more money staying In golden state, he just did not want to come off the bench.. same thing like Iverson and mello

  21. Klay wants to be the difference maker that pushes Dallas to a championship. I don't think it happens next season, maybe the season after that.

  22. In the world of business he was a major reason the franchise increased 2 billion in value! (with a B!)

  23. I think a lot of build up just happened over the years and it seemed like he was snubbed often. He only made two all NBA 3rd teams despite playing crazy D and still shooting 40% from 3 every year. He bailed steph out in some huge clutch finals like the 41 piece to okc when down 3-2. Then the kemba walker one like SAS said. He was probly gonna win the 2019 FMVP if he didn't do his acl and it was looking like they were coming back to win even without KD. They also pick guys like reggie miller as a top75 all time player over him despite 4 rings to 0. Reggie miller was was the no.1 but ave 21 or 22 at best. While MJ and Shaq etc were still ave 30 in those times.

Im not even a GS fan but it does feel like he got snubbed a lot when hes been imo the 2nd best shooter of all time

  24. He just doesn't have the legs to shoot his shot anymore, I still believe he had the crispiest shot ever but injuries really destroyed him

  25. Klay has never spoken very highly of LeBron. Why do people keep asking why he didn't go to the LeLakers

  26. Klay did get the all nbas (who votes for that? maybe media have votes for that ?) and in his contract there were stipulations about getting into all nba and taking more money. Klay before the injuries was snubbed from all nba roster that he should be in and in result took less money. Warrior owners can black ball a coach that doesn't like gays but can't help Klay to get into all nba ? connect the dots…

  27. Let's just look at it in a positive way that for every GSW vs Mavs Games next season will surely be a three-point shoot out.

  28. Stephen a smith, how dare you , you always say fair doesn’t exist , that’s a place where they judge pigs!!! How many times have you said that!!!!

  29. We pissed him off putting him on the bench and starting a very smart and hungry rookie, talking bout ‘my mental health’ man bye, he tha ops now, we dont deal with pride here, only from our enforcer, our leader is humble so must the rest be
