[Bondy] Per sources, the Nets and Knicks had agreed from the beginning of the Bridges deal that the Knicks wouldn’t be hard capped. This wasn’t an evolution of a trade or reconfiguring or the Nets further helping out the Knicks. It was part of the original price.

Makes sense. We prob paid an extra 1st for that lol
Savvy
Can someone explain what this all means?
Makes sense, all the freaking out and constant reporting about the hard cap was so goofy. There’s no way the FO hadn’t already thought through and planned these scenarios. So much time was wasted writing articles about which particular 2nd rounders or end of bench guys we could’ve traded, it’s all inconsequential at the end
I don’t doubt this was the case. But it took a long time to get there and the major Center options are all off the table. This suggests to me that either the FO had a plan for a name that hasn’t really been out there or they and Thibs are open to some small ball center lineups with Randle, OG, Bridges, etc al., because this FO is too competent not to have thought this through.
We still had to convince shake to do the deal. Glad it worked out.
Worst case now we overpay a bit to make sure we don’t lose precious, and get someone on the tax mle. I wonder if we’ll go into the season without using the MLE because I think it can be used later to absorb salary in a trade but not sure the exact details.
This the new version of sending picks to a third team to facilitate lol
Imagine thinking our front office wasn’t planning ahead
I thought this would happen; what happened?
doesnt seem like such an overpay now, huh
Nets hunting for good karma I see. Maybe that’s the direction everyone was talking about all along.
Of course they did! Any other machination just didn’t make any sense!
