Oh Bay Area, there are not enough words and images to convey how I really feel about yall. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for the best times of my life. It was such an honor to put that Dubs jersey on from day 1. I really just wanted to be the best I could be and help bring as many championships as possible to the region. The best part was not the rings though, it was the friendships I made that will last a lifetime. Let’s be honest, it was not an honor from day one. This was a trash franchise before Klay helped turn it into what it is.
Edit: not sure why I’m being downvoted, I’m saying this as a long time Warriors fan. Between Rick Barry and the Splash Brothers, this was a garbage franchise. We had exactly one highpoint in the ’80s, the Sleepy Floyd game, two highpoints in the ’90s, the Run-TMC first round upset of the Spurs and Chris Webber dunking on Barkley and having it turned into a Nike commercial, and two highpoint in the ‘2000s, the J-Rich Dunk Contests wins that no one remembers because they came after Vince Carter’s win and the We Believe first round upset of the Mavs. That was it. No real playoff success, in fact for a while the Warriors had the NBA record of the longest stretch in NBA history without making the playoffs, and the longest stretch in NBA history without an All-Star selection.
