Offensive rebounding is important — obviously it increases your team’s second chance points, but usually it comes at a cost of spacing. The reason Andre Drummond isn’t a great offensive player despite his monster offensive rebound rate is that he clogs the lane and makes it more difficult for people to drive. Offensive rebounding rates should be understood in the context of how much spacing the player also provides. Field goals attempted from 3 is considered one of the best measures of spacing, and you see here, Garza is a major outlier. He’s able to get up a ton of 3s while also crashing the glass at an elite rate, which is more difficult to do if you are frequently on the 3 point line. Obviously Garza didn’t shoot as well from 3 this year, but he has the foundational skills of a monster offensive big in the modern game.

I don’t want to wish injury on anyone but I’d love to see some extended Luka minutes next year
