Cleveland sports show Starts Now booah welcome to the ultimate Cleveland sports show here on Channel 3 WKYC locally we appreciate you joining us I’m Adam the bull and on today’s episode we’ll preview the Guardians Series this weekend with the San Francisco Giants Jason and I’m Jason Lloyd the Giants are barely hanging on in playoff contention if the Guardians are able to knock them out this weekend maybe they can pick off a player or two from their roster at the trade deadline we’ll talk about it g bush in the building I’m going to let you guys know who’s more likely to get traded Isaac a Coro or Carris Levert we’ll talk about that coming up Ear Pearl it’s your boy Earl Le Pearl in the building I’m here to let you know that it’s still a chance LeBron James can retire as a Cleveland Cavalier not giving it up that story will never die until LeBron does I mean that’s it really he could be 68 years old I mean could he come back could he pull up mini minoso here uh guys will get the LeBron and and the Cavaliers later but let’s begin with the Cleveland Guardians they took two out of three against the white socks over the last few days and now they begin their final home stand of the uh first half or before the All-Star break they play the Giants this weekend Friday Saturday Sunday before heading out on a road trip before the break the following week uh we look at this matchup with the Giants the Giants are yet another team that are On The Fringe of playoff contention we’ll talk later if the Guardians win this series could it lead to maybe the Guardians uh going after some Giants players in the trade but um what are you looking forward to seeing this weekend Jason in the last home series before the break finish strong run through the tape obviously we have two Allstars and Steven Quan Jose Ramirez more will be added to that I’d expect Josh Naylor and Emanuel CL for sure to be added to that uh you know guys I’m sure have their eye on the break and the schedule and a couple days off but stay strong run through the break and finish strong with the series I I still I’m still a sucker for in League Play I like seeing the national league teams um like seeing the Giants one of the you know traditional classic teams in the NL so I want to see that and plus I want to continue to see some put some uh you know distance between them and now second place Minnesota Twins we were looking at Kansas City um earlier during the season now it looks like Minnesota’s a little hot um I’m looking to try to to secure right now the the best record in baseball the the game Yankees are sliding back a little bit they’ve lost uh quite a few games and now I’m looking forward to the Guardians finishing this this uh you know first half out and then putting some distance between them and Minnesota um and then you know we talk about it trying to find some some extra pitching to get ready for the playoffs Guardians are 23 games over 500 which is best in the American League they got the second best record in baseball they haven’t played as well the last uh week and change they’re five and five in their last 10 games uh they were a season high at 1. 125 games over 500 so I’d like to see them get at least there by the time we get to the all-star break and if they sweep this series against the Giants they would be 26 games over 500 the GI the Guardians play has been great for most of the season but they’ve just been off lately uh in this stretch where they’ve lost four out of seven between Kansas City and the White Soxs two teams that had previously been struggling obviously the White Soxs are playing particularly bad baseball but you know the pitching has been a little more up and down uh I mean the the rotation been up and down period the whole season but even the bullpen been a little up and down this last week and it’s something to keep an eye on because as great as the Guardians Bullpen has been uh they have gotten a lot of work now they’ve got a little bit of break this week some of the key guys haven’t pitched as much this week and and so the uh the projection or the pace that they’re on for appearances has been knocked under 80 which is good you don’t really want a guy pitching half the games of the Season you want it to be a little lower than that even for your best guys even a guy like Emanuel CL who’s you know would love to pitch every day but it’s just something to keep an eye on here this weekend and really the last 10 days before the break is is making sure they finish strong as you said Jason go through the tape you never know I mean all of us in life when you know a vacation’s coming there’s part of you that takes your foot off the gas you’re like oh just get through it just get through it you start thinking about all the things you’re going to do on vacation and you know so some of these guys have been are probably tired they’ve been they’ve done a lot of work this season they’ve overachieved to some degree uh you hope there’s no let up here in the final 10 days because they they haven’t been as good the last two series Tanner BBY goes tonight he’s been the Ace of the staff as far as I’m concerned all season long I think Eric Miller’s pitching for the Giants that’s a matchup that heavily favors the Guardians win this one tonight start off 1 and0 and really sort of throw a knockout punt it’s the Giants we don’t pay attention much to the National League obviously but they’re one of those teams sort of hovering On The Fringe of contention and a lot of teams have a lot of decisions to make this month in terms of buyer sell which direction they’re going to go we know where the Guardians are going to go hopefully certainly they should be buyers at the deadline yeah I mean 25 days till the trade deadline it’s it’s getting close you know we’re less than four weeks away and we saw maybe the start of the damn break there with the aand ofal trade as he gets dealt from Tampa Bay to Milwaukee in the last couple of days uh I think it was officially yesterday but it was announced was reported the day before and because there’s so many teams in it this is going to come like it may be where we’ll see a trickle of Trades between now and the deadline and then the last two or three days teams there there could be five six seven teams that say hey we’re out let’s you know so but you’re not going to know that till July 25th right so we could see things get a little crazy those last couple of days uh but for now the prices are still going to be high from the sellers which they should be because there aren’t many of them uh but also if you make a trade now you get a leg up because you get more starts you get more time for that new player to transition we don’t think about that as much in baseball but it can be an adjustment for guys when this trades are you a little worried about the fact that if the the better that they perform throughout the rest of the regular season it may give a signal to the front office that team has all the needs is that is that is that a thing that you worry about well Jason talked to in the other show before uh you know about what Chris antonetti said on with John Heyman recently and and and I saw it too and you know I’m convincing myself he’s just doesn’t want to spill the beans at all he’s playing koi and he does keep everything close to the vest it’s not like he’s very animated or very forthcoming in his conversation and maybe he’s trying to just Tamp down expectations and maybe it’s because they won’t make a trade or maybe it’s because he’s not sure if he can pull it off and and we’ll see ultimately it would be a crime against humanity for and I’m exaggerating obviously but it would it would be a crime against this team uh if they did not make moves to improve it they should be absolutely all in this year Jason they’re the best team in the American League right now but on paper I still think Baltimore’s a little better and I still think the Yankees are a little better on paper especially there in the starting rotation but this team needs a number two hitter and another and a and a front to Middle starter desperately and those two things Al okay let’s go I I perfect world you do even more than that but you need a two-hitter and you need one more starting pitcher I’m not convinced they’re going to deal for a starting pitcher based on the conversation that interview that we talking about Chris Anthony with John Hammond I think he was tempering expectations for pitching I do think that they’ll make a move they they’re going to be active you have to add to this roster with the position that they’re in I’m just pessimistic now that it’ll be a starting pitcher which obviously probably is their most pressing need but because of the not even the contract price on the player but just the prospect price and what you’d have to give up I’m just not optimistic that they would pull the trigger on that but I look at this roster and say Josh Naylor has a year and a half a team control remaining and a lot of times they deal guys with a year left or or so uh to maximize return obviously rather than losing a guy as a free agent getting nothing for him Steven Quan’s entering arbitration starting next year so you’re down to three years of control there the clock is constantly ticking on this team Jose Ramirez all the money that he gave back to stay here don’t you owe it to these guys to put push all in to maximize the opportunity when the window’s in front of you and the window is right now this team is ready to win right now they just need a little bit of help and the fans have done their part not that we could argue whether the fans need to do their part but the fans have attendance in the last month has been fantastic they’re they sold out a game against the white socks on Wednesday for GR uh yeah it was dollar dog and fireworks but still but still you know in the past against the white socks in the middle of the week they would have had a bigger crowd with DOD dog and and fireworks they would they may not have sold out I don’t know but overall the attendance has been so much better the fans have done their part the players have done their part the manager’s done his part now it’s time for the front office and ownership to Pony up whether that’s prospects or money get it done yeah and give this team a better chance to win when it matters all right folks when we come back we’re Switching gears from the Guardians to the Cavaliers who is along with G Bush and Jason Lloyd I’m Adam the bull guys let’s uh switch gears talk Cavaliers free agency just getting underway here trades a lot lot of excitement happening around the NBA and outside of the Cavs resigning Donovan Mitchell which is a big deal the Cavs have done nothing to improve the roster nor have they subtracted from the roster at all it feels more and more that they their Best Way Forward may be to just stick with the top four guys the core four if you will even though I hate saying that term uh and try to improve on that uh now maybe they’ll end up making a big move still with Darius Garland or Jared alen but if they do stay with the core four what player outside of that core four guys and I’ll start with you Jason is the one more likely to be traded whether it’s Caris LeVert Isaac aoro or if you want to go with somebody else that could potentially help them change the mix and get better history indicates it’ be Isaac aoro the original question was Caris lit or Isaac aoro when you get to the point that Isaac has reached where you are coming off your rookie contract you did not reach in extension with that team history indicates more times than not that player winds up moving on and there’s a couple of out there with enough cap space that if someone were to offer higher than the midlevel which is around 13 million this year uh the Cavs probably would they could match it but they’d probably prefer to move on in a sign and trade type deal and get something else for them because they had the opportunity to extend him last year and chose not to so that short of sort of tells you where they stand with him and if I’m another team I know the limit limitations that Isaac has shooting but he has improved every year as a three-point shooter he he’s such a tough physical Defender he’s still only 23 years old you still have to believe his best basketball’s in front of him I tend to think he is going to get a lucrative offer this summer in free agency so because Caris still has a year left on his deal because Isaac is a restricted free agent uh and it just history would indicate at this point Isaac a coro’s probably played his last game if you’re making me choose between those two guys yeah I think Isaac aoro is the right choice he’s a lottery pick um he’s a guy who is young still 23 years old every every single year he’s worked on his his you know his his shooting ability he’s shooting better behind um you know beyond the three-point especially on Corner threes um he’s a guy that has some versatility and one thing that you know you cannot take away from Isaac Koro is he’s tough-nosed he’s gonna fight hard he’s he’s a really good character guy um and you know he’s he’s progressing and working on his game every single year some team will look at that and say maybe I can get something out of him the Cavs can get out of maybe we can develop him as a more of a shooter but uh his defensive PR is you know that that’s that’s not to be you know you can’t you can’t knock that you know look at Caris LeVert now Caris lt’s deal it matches a lot when you talk about matching money up like when you’re trying to move and get a bigger player car vers contract matches up um a lot better so you can get a better player in return but I I think overall Isaac aoro is the more attractive player um four teams looking to to get you know players and to build their roster a younger guy I I think it’s it’s aoro you know obviously would have to be a lot bigger deal than just Isaac aoro and I just SP the beginning of the segment saying well you know forget Darius scarin forget Jared Allen for now but I’m kind of going to bring him in the mix a little bit because I feel like Isaac aoro is a guy who might fit the the Miami Heat the way they coach the way they play defense and could he be part of a package uh to get them Jimmy Butler I don’t know I’ll throw throw that at you guys well it would take a lot of money to make that money match but Darius and Isaac together probably gets it done uh Jimmy you know Butler’s a name to watch we talked about it on the YouTube show that my personal feeling once Pat Riley stood up there and said uh if you’re not on the court keep your mouth shut that told me Jimmy Butler’s played his last game in Miami we’ll see maybe they maybe they bring him back anyway obviously we know now Jimmy wants a new deal he is getting older I think he’s 35 uh playoff Jimmy has been phenomenal regular season Jimmy not so much uh but it’s certainly something I think that’s worth at least exploring if you’re the Cavs is is Darius and okoro enough of a package for Jimmy Jimmy B I think it’s a very appealing package if you’re a team like Miami those are two really young players I mean Darius is making a lot of money but those are young players that you’re trading a guy really at the end of his career for two guys who still have their best basketball in front of them I think that’d be very and and injuries he didn’t play in the playoffs you know he you know he’s getting up there a little there’s risk on the Cav side to do something like that but you’d have to do it if you were the Cavs wouldn’t you that’s your all in move that that’s certainly your all in move if you’re looking at putting the ball in Donovan’s hands you know Jimmy is the wing that they’ve they’ve needed a wing outside of LeBron they haven’t had a wing in 25 years it’s been LeBron or a combination of trying to make Max stru a three Alonzo G Jamario moon boy these are the guys that have Isaac aoro these are the guys played that small forward spot when LeBron wasn’t here so it’s I guess the question is with Jimmy Butler instead of Darius and aoro are the Cavs a legit Championship Contender if Jimmy’s healthy in the playoffs yeah I think I think that helps close the gap on Boston I do because it gives them Boston is long and athletic that’s what they are and they’re switchy they can switch one through five with a lot of the lineups that they Deploy on the floor Jimmy gives them an opportunity to match up a little bit better can you imagine you got look at the defense you got Jimmy Butler Allen and Moy but you’re cutting your window down in terms of obviously Jimmy’s near the end of his yeah of his time how much longer has he already passed that point and that’s where the risk lies because this guy wants a new deal and you’re you know you’re paying a lot of money for a guy who’s on the back end of his career you don’t know how many years you got with Donovan Mitchell anyway I Would Do It ultimately would you would you do that yeah I would strongly consider it yeah I would strongly consider and then your starting lineup would be Donovan Jimmy Jared Allen Evan Moy who’s your fifth starter stru and as of now streu would be the and that feels like a team that could compete for a championship I don’t know that they’d be the favorite but they would be right there and then it would come down to what Jimmy Butler are you getting when the playoffs start if you’re getting great Jimmy Butler they can beat anybody can’t they if they get Jimmy Butler and and you get a Evan Moy that’s improved you talk now I mean you never know look at how the playoffs unfolded this year with Giannis going down to Milwaukee you never know how injuries are going to sure but yeah I I would give the Cavs a puncher chance in that instance and doesn’t that feel like a type of team that some other good player would take a middle level exception or sign after the trade deadline next year to come here as a final piece or something well and honestly by including okoro in the deal it triggers different type of cap rules that we don’t need to get into now yeah but you you really have to look at the salary cap and we talked about this before on the show the NBA has really strived to make parody a thing and they’ve really abolished the ability to build super teams so for that reason the Cavs may be better off keeping what they have and trying to grow from that because once you start adding those big money and depending on how you add them it triggers different caps and ceilings on on things and it it’s it’s fairly complicated but it there’s positives and negatives to both I guess I would say it gives you two years I think probably to potentially win a champ but it may lower your ceiling in terms of how much you can spend so you it’s it’s something you have to look at and they might need to have money for one Mr LeBron James could LeBron still come back to the Cavs before he lose the first round hey LeBron is still great at the age of 40 and why couldn’t he be at the age of 42 or 43 or 44 or 45 he might still be great for now it feels like the window is closed on him coming back for a third tour Duty in Cleveland but windows were meant to be open there Jason Lloyd I is it still possible since really he can opt out again after this year not really he can opt out again after the 2425 season are have you given up all hope of coming back to Cleveland no stop stop he’s ending his career in La I did think that there was a chance depending on how things broke with Brony and whatever else there was a chance he could come back that is over his son is in La he’s playing with his kid it’s what he wanted yeah everyone who had been around him kept telling me he is going to finish his career in La I was the only one who thought I see it I think there’s a chance he could it’s over he is ending his career as a Laker and and by the way what is he going in year how many years has he been there now seven eight like it’s been there a long time the longest he was ever anywhere was his first s in Cleveland was seven years yeah and then he went to Miami for four he was back here for four and he’s been in La ever since so he’s very comfortable in La I agree with you the team I can’t see them winning another championship that’s a little bit disappointing to me uh but it is what it is he’s probably more than likely going to finish his career with h four championships G let me throw a scenario to you yeah the year is 202 27 26 when is Bryce going to get drafted what year what year he would be 42 he would be 42 whatever year it is 26 27 Bryce James gets drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers will LeBron come out of retirement and play one more year it would be selfish of him to play with bronny and not play with price he he doesn’t have that he doesn’t have that much time left hey man what are you talking about he’s still a top 30 player in the Genie bust has only given him the keys for a couple more years I mean they gave him everything he wanted I mean he got the coach he got the he got his son the son got a guaranteed contract I’m with Jason and I I was the last one holding out hope I was the last vestage of Hope but when they drafted uh bronnie he got the coach he wanted and uh Savannah like I don’t think she wants to come back you know his wife is uh enjoying herself out there now he in L they’re G to retire out there he told me in 20 like 15 probably that he will not hang around too long and embarrass the game that the game has been too good to him he’s not going to be one of these guys that hangs on and hangs on and hangs on he could play to least 45 yeah 50 at the ra he’s going you know like he could play multiple more years I don’t think he I think we’re getting toward the end I think he’s only got probably a year or two left he’s going to finish it and he’s I think he’ll be reinvigorated I think he’ll he’ll play he he’s going to be happy I think you you’ll see some some flashes at old LeBron this year I mean can you imagine this means way more to LeBron can you imagine bronnie you finally like you’re in the NBA but you got your dad watching over you every city you’re in he’s already getting tired of the questions a little bit he’s like I mean I ain’t been in my dad’s back pocket I was hooping no you know what you signed up for you going to get these questions all two years he can’t go out now without pops hang around they Wing man got back off though and let him let him live a little though no no when you’re in Charlotte on a Tuesday night what are you going to do like you know what I mean like LeBron’s going to be I don’t know I just think it’s Ronnie have a girlfriend I have no idea he’s about to have 30 yeah one in every city right but I didn’t know he had you know I don’t know but that’s wow LeBron’s got to let him live that would be messed up with LeBron man you got to let the kid live he can’t be dad he can’t be dad on the team that’s not right how does this work like does does like we need to interview Ken griffy the the griffy yeah he’s like yo he’s is is is bronnie telling like ain’t LeBron it’s Bron fair but he was a h he was a really good player in Seattle in La these guys this is this crazy this crazy it is crazy it is crazy and it’s going to be interesting to see their Dynamic on the court like I mean I don’t know how much bronnie is gonna play but I’m sure he’s gonna play some some he going to yell at him yeah he yells at everybody for LeBron don’t move on defense then he yells at you cuz it your fault I mean like are they going to be want are they going to be cryptic press conferences like like what like like yeah is bronnie going to yell at LeBron that’s wild how about that and what feet dad and what is Anthony Davis think is Anthony Davis like come on man I can’t I bring my son in like like let me bring my let me bring my trainer in I don’t know bro I have no idea the first time the Bri talks to the media be like yeah we can really use a point guard the headlines is going to be crazy yeah it’s like yeah bronnie can’t play tonight I’ve grounded him The Cleveland Guardians welcome the San Francisco Giants to Progressive Field for a 3-game series. This will be the Guardians last series at home before the All-Star break, so hopefully they can win this series before heading on the road.

Is the Cleveland Cavaliers decide to keep their core four players of Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen, should they trade Isaac Okoro and/or Caris LeVert to help improve the roster? Maybe Jimmy Butler is some the Cavs should target.

Now that Lebron James has signed a 2-year extension with the Los Angeles Lakers and they drafted his son Bronny, it seems like the chances of King James returning to Cleveland are slim and none.
