Inside the NBA | “He chose wrong civilization” – Shaq BREAKING Klay Thompson go to Mavs over Lakers

he’s feeling it absolutely feeling it CR standing ding again you’re just tuning in one of the most incredible 11 minutes in NBA history 37 in a quarter toson wide open to BR here is Thompson with an on fire and he hits again free from Thompson he is Brit nor three-point shot exhibition K Thompson has 113 that is an NBA record they stay alive for a game seven breaking news out of California it’s been announced Klay Thompson may be joining the Dallas Mavericks welcome on into free agent frenzy Lauren Jabar with Chris Haynes Ryan mcdna this is all just fresh it’s fresh news Chris I know you reported it first but Klay Thompson is he heading to Dallas we’re hearing 3 years 50 million right yeah we’re being told that him and Dallas have reached an agreement 3 years 50 mil and they they won the they won the Klay Thompson sweep Stakes the Lakers were coming in and I was told they had a really strong offer and they really felt good about their chances of getting clay But ultimately clay chose the go play the Dallas Mavericks partner up with Luca donit Kyrie Irving he’s going to help kind of reinvent or reintroduce a new offense over there in Dallas so I know he’s looking forward to that he’s always wanted to Fresh Start now caveat I want to throw in here let is that it’s going to take a sign in trade to get that deal done and I was told that the warriors uh the Warriors say that they’re not close to a deal with Dallas they are still working on some things um so that’s what it’s going to take to get this deal fully finalized as of right now I was told that there is not a deal in place at this point and I was told specifically that it’s not close right now yeah and Ryan from a front office perspective I know you’ve had a lot of you know experience with that kind of a thing what does it take for for that sign and trade to be able to happen to send clay to Dallas yeah a few different ways to do it Lauren I think the most likely is with a three- team deal looks like Josh Green is going to go out from Dallas he’s going to go to Charlotte Josh Green signed a 3year $41 million extension with the Mavs just this past October Klay Thompson would come from Golden State to Dallas on the three-year $50 million deal that Chris mentioned the hang-up here is to do a three- team trade teams need to send and receive something from the other teams in the deal so to Chris’s Point what did the Golden State Warriors get out of this now may be something as simple as a second round pick and a trade exception or something like that uh and also breaking as we’re coming on air it looks like the Warriors are going to sign De Anthony Melton to a one year that looks like the non-t taxpayer midle level exception Lauren it it’s been reported at 12.8 million so Golden State’s got a lot in flux it seems like they want to do right by Clay and help clay but at the same time it is a business so the Warriors it seems like they’re still trying to figure out what’s in it for them yeah it’s going to be interesting to see what the Warriors look like now moving forward there’s no more Splash Brothers where do you feel like this Warriors team goes from here no no more Chris Paul I know he was only there a year but no clay who spent 13 Seasons there yeah DeAnthony He he’ll definitely help but you know I think the Warriors for the most part they’re going to have to improve from within you know they they seen Brandon pinski have a really great rookie season for them they expect the jump from Moses Moody Jonathan kaminga had a really breakout season this past year so they’re kind of betting on their young guys to come in and take that take over the torch now they were hoping that some of the young guys will kind of step in about two years ago and it’s it’s took a little while so I think that’s what they’re leaning on right now yeah and for you Ryan when you look at a team like the Dallas Mavericks with Klay Thompson possibly going there how do you feel like he helps that organization especially what they were able to do over the last year and you see that Luca Kyrie tandem kind of working out right now it’s worked out very well and you think of those two guys Lauren what do they need they need an elite catch and shoot player to play off of them we saw that in the finals Boston did not rotate or double on Kyrie and Luca too much and bunch of the maps other perimeter guys are pretty neutralized by that uh Klay Thompson yes he’s not the same player he was prior to the ACL in the Achilles uh but he’s still a shooter with size who will be motivated I think he’ll be the best guy on that roster shooting off the move too that’s something they haven’t had a guy who can catch and shoot off a movement um so I I like the fit for Dallas Tim Hardway Jr is gone Josh Green is gone off the team that went to the finals uh we’ll see if it’s an upgrade for Klay Thompson I think that all depends on what version of playay they get but theoretically Lauren the upside here is higher for a team that just went to the NBA finals yeah a guy like Klay Thompson spent 13 years with the Golden State Warriors now he’s moving along and I know you guys touched on Chris Paul a little bit earlier in your show too but now Chris Paul signs a one-year deal with the San Antonio Spurs what did you hear about that and how did that kind of come to fruition well you know the Warriors had to wave Chris Paul to not guarantee that 30 million for next season so he became a free agent and he um agreed to go to the San Antonio Spurs you know I spoke with Chris Paul briefly um yesterday he’s very excited about the partnership but him and Victor wiama um he spoke with Greg papovich and papovich sold him on culture and what they’re planning to do in the future and Chris Paul is all on board and he’s ready and eager to Showcase that he’s still an elite point guard in this league and I expect him to go in there and take over point guard right yeah when you’re going to be playing under a guy like Greg papovich one of the best coaches to ever do it all time in the NBA and then you’re playing alongside a guy like Victor wanyama we saw what he was able to do this past season in his first year in the league he is a special player how do you feel like Ryan Chris Paul helps the Spurs team moving forward I think he helps a lot Lauren the Spurs team last year put the ball in the hands of Jeremy soan they tried an untraditional approach a point guard I don’t think it really worked out great it didn’t put soan or their franchise player Victor wanyama in a position to be effective they transitioned as the year went on to Trey Jones who I think is a solid NBA rotational point guard I think he’s better suited in a backup role and that will be the role now with Chris Paul coming in the Spurs still want to figure out a longterm answer at point guard but in my opinion there’s no better Bridge than Chris Paul at 39 years old he’s still playing at a high level he’s a basketball genius and his ability to get Victor to spots and get him the ball in spots I think will really help Victor’s development and also help the Spurs be more competitive this year as victor goes into year two yeah when it comes into fit Chris is that what you feel like Chris Paul was looking for in a team like the San Antonio Spurs yeah he he wants to win he wants to compete you know I know for sure that he wasn’t overly thrilled about the reserve role had with the Golden State Warriors last season but he did that because he’s a team player but he still feels like he’s an elite point guard and like I said he’s motivated extremely motivated to go in there and show that but also being able to play with a talent like Victor whama and being able to unleash him a little bit more you remember when it’s about how four years ago now probably a little bit longer than that a little shorter than that when Chris Paul went to OKC and nobody expected much from that team ended up getting them to the playoffs and so I’m not saying Chris Paul is going to do that with the San Antonio Spurs different roster he’s older but uh he’s looking to have a similar impact to Showcase his skill set and teach those guys how to play at this level and how to get the how to maximize their ability yeah and Chris Paul has been able to win throughout his career we’ve seen him do it over and over again Ryan how do you feel like moving forward the Spurs kind of take this partnership now this one-year partnership with Chris Paul and move forward now for this next year and maybe years to come I think the the long-term question remains the point guard and can you trade for one Lauren or do you draft somebody in the future I like how this team is shaping up you see the young Talent there on the wing especially with Stefan Castle the number four pick in the draft out of Yukon coming in and they have other talented young Wings hellin Johnson Devon Vel uh Jeremy soan so that may be the the question for San Antonio at some point did they flip one of those wings for a young point guard uh let say Darius garland from Cleveland if he becomes available maybe a Trey young here in Atlanta um those are the kind of things that I think San will have to consider if the other teams are open for business uh but this roster is upgraded and keep in mind they still have some money to spend I wouldn’t be surprised if they look for more backourt help and more shooting to create sport space on the floor for Victor wanyama yeah the S Anon New Spurs have a lot of really good pieces to build around now wm’s first year didn’t excite people his second year is going to be even more exciting Chris I know you’re on your phone over here you’re doing something what’s going on no no I mean just trying to check in but look this is a uh this Klay Thompson situ ation this is this is a little I wouldn’t say weird cuz everything a lot of weird stuff happens in NBA especially with the free agency time um but I will say it is this probably is a new situation for me I’ve been covering Le for 14 years I’ve never reported a deal that was agreed to and then the the team says that listen we’re not close yet that that did from a signning trade type of scenario so this is a little different I’m not saying is ugly but um obviously clay can agree with the Dallas but you still in this situation he needs Golden State’s um consent they need their approval so just a little weird but I I don’t think it’s a big too big of a deal yeah and then over the last couple of Seasons you know there’s a little bit of animosity maybe that build between Klay Thompson and the front office for the Golden State Warriors how do you feel like I know I asked you how do you feel like you get this deal done but what are you seeing out of this situation is this uncommon it’s a little bit uncommon and it’s not deal from a front office perspective especially if you’re in Dallas right because now I think Golden State feels like this has been announced there’s pressure on the maps to get it done and if you’re in the Warriors front office okay Dallas we’ll happily sign and trade you Klay Thompson but you need to give us something good what what’s in it for us right and that’s the challenge um and with the announcement just as we were coming on air about the Warriors going to sign De Anthony Melton which I think is really good value guys one year at 12.8 million I think Melton wanted a big bigger deal and probably deserved a bigger deal but as we’ve talked about over the last 24 hours or so as you know Chris the money’s dried up quickly in free agency there’s not a lot of cap space available um so Golden State got younger yes they lose Chris Paul looks like they’re going to lose clay um they they’re trying to rebuild on the Fly and keep the team competitive obviously with Steph and Draymond and Company and Melton will help him do that but now it seems like there’s maybe a little stalemate a game of chicken between the Warriors and the Mavericks front office because again this has to be in sign and trade Dallas can’t just go do this on on their own they need Golden State’s help and participation and you have another player in Josh green is’s kind of waiting on pins and needles to say is he in Dallas which would probably be the case if this deal falls apart or is he going to be in Charlotte yeah it is a very very odd situation you said in 14 years you’ve really never seen anything like it before how do you feel like this does ultimately play out I I listen I I think Golden State will do right by Klay Thompson I think ultimately they will but again to like Ryan’s point I never looked at it like that like this is pressure on the Mavs like it’s out there now it’s going you got what you got do to make it you make it make it to ex it so with that being said I think it’ll get done relatively soon now as we pivot a little bit excuse me producer sorry may be going a little off SC we love a pivot come on let’s go off script the Lakers missed out yeah they missed out on Clay the Lakers felt like they had a legitimate shot to get clay I was talking with Ryan off off air about an hour ago and I was telling him just about how Lakers are feeling now they have to Pivot so who’s left out there who could make sense someone who is a star caliber player that LeBron James is seeking for this team for this upcoming season Demar de rozan is the biggest free agent left out there on the board it will either take a signning trade or it will take the Lakers getting creative removing some removing some players clearing the books to be able to get dear over there so I know there have been communication between the Lakers and dear’s agent Aaron Goodwin um it will either take a one-year deal or a sign in trade where you can get you know three-year deal going on so I would think I’m I’m I’m speculating a little but it’s an educated speculation I would think that their next Target is DeMar de rozan considering that they missed out on Clay yeah will be interesting to see how all of this plays out make sure you’re following this guy right here Chris Haynes hardest working man this out of the Mississippi right now [Music] yeah [Music] foree [Music] fore foree foree [Applause] foreign speech speech foreign for Fore foreign speech for spe My my what 1. 😂😂😂😂 Mavs still ain't winning 💩💩💩💩
Luka no defense and Klay no defense 😂. How do they think this will work?

  2. Until Bron is gone, the Lakers are irrelevant, Klay making the right move, except for the extremely high TX property taxes

  3. Until Bron is gone , Lakers are irrelevant, Klay made the right move except for the High TX property taxes

  4. First off Klay was pouting way too much and distracted from the team. Second off Pippen was not Jordan….

  5. Old and full of injuries. He was awful last year. Why are people acting like the Mavs just signed a starter who can put them over the hump???? Delusional.

  6. Let's be REAL !!! With Dallas, he's there to fight for a ring!
With the Lakers, he's there to be the next Le-scapegoat…
    Easy… very easy decision…

  7. No one wants to play with the king? MJ and Kobe are retired. And being a Kendrick/gifted writer/philosopher/savage myself… I will say the only other person trying to play with the King just got his Canada Dry arse benched for life.
