Knicks News: Quentin Richardson Reacts To The Knicks Offseason | Knicks Weekend Updates

NBA Nation on this Monday afternoon uh this is an NBA report Nicks fan TV Simo cast man CP the fanchise special guest my guy Q rich is in the building man Quinton Richardson of the Knuckleheads podcast also a Orlando Magic analyst for balet Sports South Q what’s good man welcome back to the show man all good man always good to be here tapping in with you CP yes sir always appreciate the time man so let’s get into it man actionpack show we we are in the middle of the NBA off season and I want to get your thoughts on some some winners some losers and and everything in between let’s start with these New York Knicks though man because I felt like they made the splash of the off season by picking up Macau bridges in a blockbuster trade uh what was your reaction when the trade first went down man I W I was I was kind of surprised but not surprised because I I had heard some of the Rumblings and and knew that you know obviously everybody see and know the relationship between the guys from Villanova and all of that the back and forth on social media and all of that stuff and and you just know from being a former player and you you would love to play with your teammates if you rocked with them like that those guys obviously won a national championship and did some special things so they got a good relationship but uh you know hats off to Leon Rose in the whole front office up there worldwide West and the whole crew they man they they they did they did they made a major move with that man they they really put themselves in position to try and compete with Boston and top of the East out there so I I like what they did I like the position y’all in and I like how it was looking moving forward I like the approach man because every year since they’ve gotten Jaylen Brunson and when he kind of took the whole league by storm and really emerging as a superstar level Talent every year they’ve just kept tinkering with the lineup and building pieces around them complimentary pieces around them putting defensive versatile Wings around and and some efficient shooting efficiency man he’s another efficient shooter that they bringing into the rotation no absolutely he going to be one of one of your’ best perimeter Shooters but like you said he still fits into everything with TBS he’s a two-way player he’s a guy who who hasn’t missed the game that’s one of the biggest things I love about him the fact that he’s never missed the game that’s unbelievable I I don’t think people you know get that enough credit but never miss the game always available and um like you say two-way player he’s he can stretch the floor shoot the hell out of the three but he showed in in Brooklyn that that he was much more than the complimentary player than they have being out in Phoenix and he showed that he go get 30s and 40 if need be so I think it’s just a it’s a it’s a match made in heaven with him going over there with his villain NOA teammates and knowing the chemistry that they already have and him coming into a team that desperately could use him at his position and what he provides then they went out and signed OG anobi to a major bag OG getting up getting the that that 40 bags what you think of the adobi deal man hey I love it man I every deal you know know seeing all of this money go around I I love it for these kids man these young guys in this generation do what you do like goodness he got two what he get 212 two 220 or something about that yeah yeah he he got the that was crazy but I mean you know that’s the generation that’s the that’s the climate you in man I’m not mad at him get his money to thing like you say once again Leon Rose them they didn’t they didn’t handicap themselves by doing this like you know I I’ve been reading about the aprons and all of that different stuff right now they pretty cool with everything they did they haven’t put themselves in position where they handicapped or hamstrung by any of these moves so I don’t see anything wrong with anything they doing man they they they played the you know played played it by the books and did a great job of putting this team together so far he went 20 and3 with the Knicks during during his time in the regular season 87% winning percentage did you did you get to see him up close when when they played the magic what were your impressions on how he impacted a team I like him since he was in Indiana bro like I’m a I’m a you know I watch college I watch High School I watch all of this stuff so I I’ve been liked what he brought to the table I felt the long time in Toronto he was a lot better than he was allowed to be he had some injuries here and there but every time he played I I like this game he’s a two-way guy I mean everything he showed y’all being a being a a guy that could space the floor could guard two to three positions he’s on rebound he’s not a selfish guy if he scores 20 he’s cool if he scores seven to eight and the team wins he’s great he’s a great locker room guy he’s a pro I think that’s that’s that’s very big for the culture a guy that’s going to be where he’s supposed to be doing the weights being there early the picture of professionalism all of those things he checked out the boxes for me I’m an OG fan yeah big time man and with the Investments that they made in in bridges and OG and we’re going to talk about Philadelphia in a little bit but overall like when you look at what Boston was able to accomplish how the Knicks are investing how Philly’s investing big investment in Wings man big investment in that Wing versatility Wing dep for a long time I mean from 2018 I was saying yo Nicks need a 3 ND wing and they haven’t been able to do it they go out and get OG then they go out and get maau Bridges that’s a major investment man much needed absolutely I mean I think everybody seeing what Boston just did and how those three and D Wing two two of the top in the league they led the way you know Jason and Jaylen they led the way and I think looking at Philly going to get PG and and and you need that and I think the biggest thing that I like about all of the moves that the Knicks made man like you know me CP I’m big on can you deal with New York and obviously OG has to make up he showed in a little short time he was there but I felt he had to make up prior to coming there but he absolutely showed it being there Mel already showed it being in Brooklyn I mean it’s not the Knicks we know that but he still got a taste of what New York is about and being in New York and again it’s that whole villain NOA thing all of them guys are all already kind of like weathered in that storm and they know how to deal with that so all of those pieces fit and I think that’s that’s a huge deal for the team overall for the culture of the team and the and the and the the pulse of the team for everybody to be like we ain’t tripping out that like that’s a different type of Knicks team than you usually have being out there on the floor as a compliment in in the past to me yeah true and and then with Brunson kind of still being at the head of the Stak and the spotlight on him he showed that he can handle it but with the chemistry that they have everybody can kind of just fall in line rally behind him and you know the the chemistry is going to be or should be seamless at least on paper and it to me it would have been a perfect off season but the hartenstein loss to me was pretty big man because I wanted to see him with that unit and the way that he came on with the Knicks man he ends up going to OKC 29 million a year what you think about that one I’m I’m you got to be happy for him as I know all of his teammates and everybody is a guy that wasn’t you know that heralded to be able to go and get that type of contract you always celebrate and salute that super happy he got his money I think he and to to this credit OKC did a hell of a job he was the missing piece they need I feel like he is gonna help them tremendously and make them be a whole different type of monster pushing Chad to the four or just when he comes in Off the Bench however they do it I think he gonna be a plus but yeah I felt like that was the only thing y’all missed on and it’s not like y’all missed y he was he got he he got to expensive he out played everything you couldn’t afford him so you know with that you got to salute him and say best of luck but I think that was the only thing that I didn’t like to happen for y’all this offseason and that’s something that was totally out of y’all control he just played himself into a position where it is what it is so you salute him and wish him well but that’s that’s like the only thing that I that I that I dislike for the Knicks that that they lost him because he was he was tremendous he was big time yeah so now as they look to to fill that backup spot is crucial because look Mitchell Robinson is is a great player when he’s when he’s on the court for them and when he’s healthy as a rim protector as an Intimidator as offensive rebounder defensive rebounder like he still contributes to their Identity or help built it but they need insurance they need somebody who could potentially start like hartenstein did for 50 games for Mitchell Robinson and in the playoffs and all the a lot of the backup plans are coming off the board so we’ll see if they bring back presses a cheer or what they do there but the backup five is is a little bit of a question mark right now N I agree with you right there I wouldn’t be mad at precious I think he you know he boted well in The Limited minutes he had uh and and he showed what he could do I liked him when he was in Miami and in Toronto I I like him so he he wouldn’t be a bad backup choice to me big time salute to everybody in the chat once again hit that thumbs up button for you boys man CP the franchise Q rich in the building throw a number three in the chat to salute our guy QR on this Monday afternoon man NBA report Nicks fan TV simoc cast so that was what the Knicks are were up to in in this off season now let’s go to Philly man because Daryl M was on a mission to to make his team happy to make Joel embiid happy and put a formidable unit out there on the court and he he went out there and made some moves one of which number one of which was uh was Paul George who ended up leaving the the Clippers to head over to Philly now this sound bite is going around the um the net right now and this is Paul George from the podcast P podcast talking about the decision to leave the Clippers and I want to get your reaction to it I’m gonna play a couple of sound bites from it and then I want want to get you reaction to it here’s uh Paul George uh from his podcast here we go like the first initial deal was I thought kind of disrespectful right and again no in all of this no hard feelings so the first initial deal was like two years 60 so I’m like whoa whoa whoa hey that’s crazy bro that’s C that’s crazy that’s crazy so I’m like wow no I’m not signing that this was maybe like October is negotiations first started and it was 260 and as we kept going it was like you know they would go up you know inches inches inches um to where it was like 44 45 right but this was like couple months in between before we got it to 40 something I’m still like nah I’m not doing that then I hear wind of like you know what they’re going to give Kawai so I’m like just give me what Kawai got like right y’all view us the same like you know we came here together we want to finish this together I’ll take what Kawai got like no I was cool with that like and we were still taking less we were taking less Kawai took less I was like if why going to take less I’m not gonna say I want more than why like I’m I’m not gonna like it’s not about me being paid more than him like I’mma take what he got y’all give him that give me that they didn’t want to do that I’mma pause this and skip over he basically said that he um they tabled the discussions till later on in the season so now har he is talking about when the negotiations pick back up they bring it to three years where we at 150 all right that’s cool it sucks that it had to get to this point like that they couldn’t we couldn’t get this figured out a lot sooner but now we at the end of the year 3 years 150 so I’m I’m I’m I’m like all right like now we’re in we’re in a ballpark you know what I mean now now we can have conversation here I presented the 3150 no trade cuz in the meeting they’re like you know we want you here longterm we want to you know when you’re retired we want you to be a clippers for lifetime like all of this stuff so I’m like cool cool give me the 3 years 150 no trade then like no trade CLA then then I now like I’m taking less but at least I know I’m here like I’m I’m committed to y’all like they didn’t want to do no trade do that wow so then now I’m like all right well then it only makes sense for me to do four years 212 right like at least pay me my money if y’all going to trade me then y’all going to trade me but at least like now I’m not in a situ sit a where I could have got more had I just gone a free agency then take this deal and y’all could just ship me wherever I want then now I’m on this deal that I didn’t want so they didn’t want to do that so now I was like now like now I’m I’m I’m I’m open to entertaining what’s what’s out there and then I mean you know through the negotiations they they weren budging they weren’t going to budge I wasn’t going to budge I thought I played I I played well enough for for them to you know be like you know what he’s a part of our future like I thought I did that I thought I earned that you know granted we didn’t win while I was there but luck has a lot to do with that you know we couldn’t remain healthy as a unit um but I thought I did enough to to to earn that all right so that was Paul George from his podcast explaining the situation what you think about that one then I got no problems with everything he just said the way things went down like he he show he showed the humbleness to even continue the process to trying to go there I mean we’ve heard situations where some Superstars right off the bat they feel disrespected I’m out of here I’m gone like he he still you know he still say okay well what Kawai getting Kawai getting that like I feel him when you in a situation like that and you’ve seen how things change in a year or short time and he’s been traded before he’s seen the temperature and the post of the league how you know the team don’t or aren’t happy with whatever they’ll make a change so for him to say okay if I’m going to do the 3 150 I’m taking less and y’all saying y’all want me to be here and we going to retire you and you gonna retire here at Clipper and D D D D D it shouldn’t be an issue to throw that no trade clause in it’s only a three-year deal it’s not like it’s some six-year deal and you got a no trade claw if all that’s true no trade claw shouldn’t have been a big deal and when they say no to the no trade Claws from negotiation standpoint okay yeah well let me get my four years then let me get my Max money so if you going to send me somewhere at least I’m be and I’m have my money and go with that and so when it came to that I I have no problem with I have zero issues with the way he handled that he did what he should have did and then to get to a situation where he’s in a great position to compete for a championship and he got to a got to got to the table with the team that told him everything he did want to hear to this point I mean he has the right to feel that he earned what he felt like he earned he played 74 out of the 82 he was present for the playoffs he was there he did his thing I felt like he should have been able able to get whatever Kawai got too that that that didn’t seem like he was asking for too much he could have literally tried to say I want more I was more available I was more here and he was humble enough to not do that so for me I got zero problems with the way he did that and um it sucks but the I don’t I don’t feel like we we the clips made the right decision right there it seemed like they set the tone though I mean two years 60 to crazy I know it was in October but that was like crazy I mean it it sounds a little more crazy because of what we know now that has happened but yeah I think that was that was to me that was like damn 260 like nah so yeah I don’t got a problem with the way PG handled at the end of the day as a as a player man you gotta you got to take care of your business and do what’s best for you and like he said I don’t think it it didn’t sound like he had heart feelings toward you know hard feelings towards them or or the players or the city or the fans or nothing like that but everybody got to understand it when you get put this situation you got to do what’s best for you cuz that’s exactly what the team is doing they staying away from the aprons and all of that stuff and that’s why they didn’t want to do that so they doing what’s best for them and he got to do the same is it hard to be comfortable with a team and an organization knowing that there’s clearly a contrast in terms of the value that he felt like he brought to the team and clearly what they’re looking at in terms of protecting their their books and things of that nature is it hard to to to really get comfortable when you’re playing for organization knowing not that there is a fork in the road at some point I think everybody just the way I dealt with it man you just got to deal with it when it’s come your time you know what I’m saying like you definitely take note and make sure you you observing and you seeing what’s going on but you got to deal with your situation when comes your situation like you you know that was that was like an Unwritten rule we don’t count nobody else pockets and we don’t look at this and that but we very aware and we very aware of how like this our teammate we see how he feeling we see how he’s being impacted by what’s going on and we we take notes of that mental notes and then when it come your time you start seeing any of them signs you know how to react what what was that like for you cuz when you left the Clippers you were a restricted free agent correct when you went to Phoenix so I mean that was a team that drafted you did you kind of feel like disrespected during those those negotiations that that led you ultimately to go to Phoenix no for me it was a total different situation man I felt like uh they wanted me to stay Mike dun Ley I I talked to him in the 25th hour Mike duny Senior and U he was my coach and he was kind of like the general manager at that point too but uh I talked to him like literally the latest you could talk to somebody before you know the me the the little period of time pass where where it’s no longer this and that you got to make do they match or don’t they because they had a chance to match for me and like I talked to them and it was more so about me wanting to try and go somewhere where I could win because for forever that wasn’t the case in La you know what I’m say and the Clippers like I want to say literally maybe a year or two after I left that was when he first signed free agents and signed and extended guys like you know what I’m saying and he had because he had done Corey and then it was that too for me and Cory we were the same we needed some you know what I’m saying like as we we was boys but like we both were the same player and we were like we needed some of that so I needed to go this way he stayed there and it was like we both got to go do our thing a little bit but for me it was like it wasn’t that they didn’t want they didn’t want to keep me because I think that was like the yeah the year before they kept Corey and Elden and then they were trying to keep me and so they were that was when they were moving into that then after I left Sam Cel came and Cino and things like that but yeah prior to that it just didn’t seemed like that was a a situation where we were going to be able to win that and you know obviously I had the one year in Phoenix where we did win then I came to New York and then you know in this free agency especially now with the apron in certain situations you could have players potentially taken a little bit less right now especially in New York Jaylen Brunson is kind of on the clock as to whether he’s going to uh extend his contract now save the Knicks a ton of money so that they could have some flexibility going forward a similar situation in Phoenix with you as you described it on the podcast as Steve Nash did did that for you right oh yeah I mean but see for for what Steve Nash did I don’t I don’t think it was the same scenario that that that sits here I think it’s you know going into negotiations has to make a decision do I take the the full Max or how much less do I take and then he’ll know how much he’ll give the Nicks to work with for us we had already agreed to our deals like that’s what was crazy but like when we were there to sign our contracts the luxury tax came in uh it came in lower than they had projected so that meant that it wasn’t about who G it was just like somebody has to and you already know when you have like if it was left to the agents it never would have been R would have been a like his agent was on the plane my agent was in was in Miami and then uh me they when they brought it to me and Steve it had no chance to go past us Steve just said no just take it off mine and give it to him like this was before I get to call my agent and say what do we do here it was none of that Steve cut the middleman out and just made that call like on the on the spot and that’s what made it like unbelievable like yo this is the most unselfish dude i’ like we didn’t know each other past him playing for the Mavericks and me playing in LA and just competing against each other and what’s up on the court pad like for him to do that like that that right there set the tone of like how he was his level of unselfishness and how he was able to lead the team the way he did uh what you what you think about Philadelphia’s moves man myy maker moves Reign Maxi they got George UB Caleb Martin what would you think about that one yeah man that Caleb Martin deal was crazy the way they came about that if if if it’s true yeah he passed up 60 whatever like man we got to get we got to get representation out here to know know what’s going on and doing these guys right I saw the article saying that rebs thought he was gonna get a bigger deal or something and Miami was saying this is a a fair deal and then you go get less like that’s crazy I mean that’s a great great pickup for Philly because I like Caleb Martin I think he’s a he’s he’s a great player he’s going to be a huge addition to them but that little mathematics didn’t it was the math wasn’t math and for me I was 65 turn down 65 and signment to sixes for 32 I mean I remember two years ago when they went to the finals his free agency was a big topic because of how well he played obviously he outplayed his contract but is is that the agent fault there if that’s the case I don’t I mean to me I mean I don’t know the I don’t know the intricate details there but but from the just reading what I saw on Hoops hype in some of the Articles it said that his his representation was was going back and forth like like I ain’t never really heard a player trying to say I know my mark they we usually listen to our agents and our representation so to me that sound like man that that wasn’t that that wasn’t good business jelly R not at all B but but I mean for philia was a they got a steal you feel me they got for what they got him for and and what he’s G the value he has and if he does what he’s been doing he’s a he’s a he’s a tremendous player bro I like everything about like you say the wing 3 and D somebody who’s a who’s a who’s a dog out there going you know going to defend whoever you need him defend and could go get 20 to 30 On Any Given night if he getting busy so I mean they got a steal as far as a player in a production especially for the price tag to me yeah I mean and and now it just Stacks up in in the east as it as you know a lot of people want to talk about the biggest challenges to Boston I think they’ve moved up health health being a key factor I think they moved up fairly fairly evenly with the Knicks right now in terms of how each team is is approaching the Celtics yeah it’s going to be interesting man I think it’s going to be another great year like last year was nobody could really tell or you know fans and and and you know teams teams that are are you a fan of you gon to root for him but like last year to me it was just wide open you didn’t you couldn’t really just say yeah definiely it’s this team or that team people thought it was Denver and Denver got bounced like Denver was a lot of teams them and Boston Boston cuz they dominated the whole post the preseason and the regular season that way but even knowing that they did it nobody never felt Uber confident to me and talking in basketball circles it was like yeah they the favorites but it was like I ain’t betting you know what I’m saying like I’m not about to put no money on it because it was that kind of open type situation and if one thing went this way it wasn’t going to be like somebody was shocked because it was it was pretty open anybody could beat anybody and it was kind of matchup based and you know how it’s like that whole matchups make fights type things cuz Denver would have played this team it might have been different I’m saying yeah yeah definitely might have been different man CP the fanchise Quinton Richardson in the building salute to everybody in the chat man hit that like button hit the share button and subscribe to the channel throw a number three in the chat to salute our guy Q Rich Orlando Magic Man speaking of Denver Orlando steals kcp man big pickup I thought that was a big pickup for them listen man I’ve been a fan of kcp since I since I got to Detroit when I was working with Stan there he was already there and I I got to see him on a daily basis and I understand exactly why he impacts when in the way he does like I felt back then that he he was underrated for what he provided like he’s a dude that like you talk about Mel brid availability is the best availability the man gonna be there like almost 82 games yeah I don’t know what his numbers are but I know he up there and and then when you talk about availability you could play in 48 minutes almost 45 minutes a game and he’s the Energizer Bunny he’s going to guard the best one through three whatever you want him to have to guard don’t matter one two or three he could guard all three positions and the dude play and work his ass off he is what he is the epitome of playing hard hard work and like you know what I’m saying like it don’t matter who you have in guard like I saw when when he was with us in Detroit this is before you know he got as good as he is shooting the ball and before he you know he became a overall better player he didn’t get a lot of shots and he guarded the you know he had to guard the best perimeter every game Reggie Jack it was him and Reggie Jackson he he was a far superior Defender so like Steph Curry’s Dame lillards all of these guys Russ what that was kyp’s matchup and that’s the versatility he brings here to Orlando and now he brings Championship pedigree Championship experience and just the knowledge of being a older veteran in the league and he’s a picture of a professionalism he’s going to like like I said about some of those other guys OG and them like he’s going to be where he’s supposed to be he’s not you know what I’m saying when it’s time to practice he’s going to be there early getting shots up he’s going to be the you know showing the young guys this is how you go about being a pro and those type of dudes are are Uber important to your culture and to your atmosphere in the locker room and I think Orlando has a great one already and adding him is going to make it even that much more better it’s a good investment for for for Paulo and for France who who they invested in in a major way as well so an extension on Jamal Mosley multi-time Champion that that’s a big pickup for Orlando then as I said they also give France the ma the max they bring back his his brother they bring back baz so they pretty much with kcp running it back Jonathan Isaac also getting his deal so another year to to move it forward they were bounce out the first round against Cleveland but you know another year for a young magic team man yo listen I I don’t know that there’s anybody any individual player in the league that I’m rooting for harder than Jonathan Isaac and it’s just for him to stay healthy that’s it like cuz when he’s healthy he’s a top five defensive player in the NBA he’s a m he’s a defensive player of the year candidate when he’s healthy watch him go look at clips of any time when he’s healthy YouTube it look it up and watch him against whoever name him I’m not saying that they not gonna scor him but watch how hard he makes it and watch how difficult of a time he gives them I don’t care from Yannis to whoever you want to name from the tatums to anybody you want to talk about when ji get out there and he’s at and he’s at a healthy place with his body and he can get out there and perform watch him that’s all I root for I root for him to have health and good luck as far as his health if he healthy I know what he gonna do out there on the court he’s gonna be a huge plus huge plus I’m telling you I watched it I I watched every game I watched him he is a defensive player of the year type player he’s that level of a defensive player that when he’s healthy if he can put together a healthy season people will see he’ll be first team all defense easy easy out west felt like OKC was the winner so far out west man they pick up Caruso in a trade then get hartenstein you know they go from a player like idy who got pretty much played off the floor to one of the best perimeter Defenders out there a low maintenance low usage guy that can get it going for you efficiently especially from three I think he shot like 40% from three this year they get hartenstein to shore up they’re rebounding wo somebody you could play with Chad gives him some options at the five think OKC number one seed in the west stacked up man I like what they did they scary coming back knowing that they finished the number one seed and they improved like you said Josh giddy I like Josh giddy I felt like when he had the the off- the court situation I felt like mentally he didn’t he didn’t recover from that you know what I’m saying hopefully him going to Chicago gives him a fresh start a team that you know they they seem like they was excited about getting him so like this gives him a fresh start where he could get that out of his system and then get back to who he had been before that because before that he was he was he was he was good yeah but Russo bro like come on man that was crazy that they got that and didn’t have to give up like pics and all of this extra stuff like bro that was crazy cuz like I I can remember when peruso and Lonzo ball were healthy these two dudes in the back court were hell bro they they defensive pressure 94 feet was crazy now you add Caruso to SGA Lou Dort uh Williams in Chad and all like d it’s just about to be crazy then they still were able to retain their bench guys they they oped them out of their deals and signed them back up so like man they they they did a they did a crazy good job a free agency man like you say getting kuso on hardenstein I don’t know anybody who got more of exactly what they needed like a perfect perfect exact what they needed fit in those two guys and they you know both of the guys aren selfish about the right things about you know playing defense and rebounding first and then everything else is cool so I just I feel like they they they hit a home run right there out of the park with both of those guys and then you know obviously adding and keeping their guys that was the bench players and the road players they hit all the cylinders and then speaking of Chicago the rozan yesterday gets traded to the kings in a in a signing trade uh pick swap two second round picks Harrison Barnes goes to the Spurs in that deal so now you have in Sacramento you got the Rosen Fox and sabonis what you think about that one I like it I like it I mean everybody know that the Debo is still a a prime time he’s still in his prime he’s still a 20 plus Point guy that could finish games hit gamewinners and be a closer for you and then obviously he’s gonna help you know show those young boys how to be pros and be a vet to them and and help them in those ways but I I they still signed Malik monk was huge for me I feel like he’s a sixthman of the Year candidate he fits perfect back with his college running mate and they they them them them two with their chemistry is huge and um I I love it man I think the West is going to be treacherous PG ain’t drun at all for going to Philly and getting out there because like you gotta think about it like like the moves is being made like who’s gonna be all stars and all that like it ain’t just a clearcut like it’s gonna be some some some significant names left off those list and things now when you look at some of the players that’s moving and where they going and coming everything just Ain sweet out west no more the West is treacherous man well will clay find New Life in Dallas I think so I think so I mean when you shoot the ball like as well as he shoot the ball like people made a big deal about his numbers but they don’t acknowledge that even what they called as a down year for his standards was still one of the best shooters in the NBA and when you when you when you send him to a team like Dallas where cuz you know like I I I’m I’m a older dude I know how it feel to be older you don’t want to do all of that running and moving as much and like that’s part of like what the whole Golden State offense is it’s a lot of movement like and Dallas is not a whole lot of that like you telling me that clay can’t can’t can’t camp out and spot over here spot up over there and wait for Kyrie and Luca to do their thing and draw a double and kick it out and he not gonna be a knockdown shooter I gotta see that to believe that I don’t believe that he’s not going to be 40% or whatever higher 42 whatever percent just a great shooter for them I feel like if he you know what I’m saying got some of those shots that that they were being given in the in the finals the clay would make those like these weren’t no off the move or coming off curls or running into it it like these were just people standing still missing shots and and to me Klay Thompson is gonna make more than he’ll miss of those type of spot up open shots so I think for him and I and I I respect his his his knowledge I think he knew and looked at the scheme and said this is this is what I feel like would be would benefit me at this point I think he’s you know I don’t I think we as athletes as players we know ourselves a lot more than people give credit for and I think clay being the vet that he is a champion he he views it that way and Dallas they just got beat in the finals so that’s another chance for him to get another ring they right there they just were in the finals so he didn’t make a you know he made the right call in my in my you know my perception of it yeah and you can see in the finals and Boston wasn’t respecting any I mean look Derrick Jones improved as a three-point shooter and PJ Washington was commendable but really wasn’t respecting what they were doing especially above the break and they were able to contain them on those Corner threes so I think it kind of limited the Mavs offense so with Clay you’re going to have a guy that you’re going to need to respect I thought the Naji Marshall pickup was underrated as well he gives him another solid defensive Wing presence three and D Wing we’ll see what Quinton Grimes can give him they got him in in the Hardway trade so Dallas was able to retool although they have limited assets and we’ll see where they go from there um nothing from the Lakers so far they they brought LeBron back but seemed like Klay was a Target Harden was a Target valent chunis kind of quiet on the Laker front right now man man it it’s it’s crazy the way that it went down I definitely thought they would get somebody and um I still think they going to try and make a push to trade for somebody with them striking out a free agency like that but um I don’t think you know that the pink and those guys are done trying to trying to get something to happen over there because obviously they still needed some type of pieace still make need to make some type of move so I definitely see them like in the trade market trying to do something Spurs last one for you Spurs seem like they they want to fortify wemy with with some vet presence they bring a champion like a Harrison Barnes in there bring a point guard in there like a CP3 who’s going to get him in his spots going to be Lob City all day even though CP3s at the end of his career I kind of like that I like how they kind of you know added the the vet presents for wemy they got um the the kid Stefan Castle from from Yukon I like him a lot have some some players I like how the the Spurs are trying to take a move up yeah I like the way they’re going about it it’s it’s not going to happen overnight but they building into it I love the CP thing man I I feel like like you said he’s gonna be a huge help for wmy just his knowledge of the game expanding that and making him more cerebral but for CP in general I like it because it takes all of that talk off of the championship and all of that right now I mean the Spurs aren’t there right now I mean the last time that he got sent into a situation like this was OKC where everybody thought wasn’t going to show up and he showed up and he was outstanding as a player outstanding as a vet for them and I I feel like this was just kind of like re Revitalize his fire and it’ll kind of take the the attention and the topic off Championship CH it’ll just be about hooping you know what I’m saying I feel like that’s what that’s what CP at the end of the day no matter what you think or what what you say about him like my perspective of him and view of him is that he is a Hooper Hooper he always loved the hoop no matter what’s been going on or whenn lose a draw you going to find CP on the court you know what I’m saying like that’s to me that’s just he gonna get back to the purity of just hooping it’s not you know he not coming in with this weight about winning a chip winning this it’s going to be about these young guys and just hooping and having fun I think I think that’ll be great for as we as we March forward into the off season what’s uh what’s on the agenda for QR and knucklehead’s podcast what he got on the store man you know we just we we cooking up man staying talking to your favorite hoopers stay Act man y’all might catch your boys you know Knuckleheads in Paris man we going to be out on live on our code kftv for $5 off your first order okay all right couple more on the agenda here on this lunchtime Edition hopefully you guys are enjoying the show show so far let’s get into it man over the weekend the Knicks finalizing Macau Bridges trade uh they received maau Bridges and Casa Bates jop in exchange for buan bonovich they added in Shake Milton in a sign in trade mamadi diakite as well as the five draft picks sorry Ari close your eyes close your ears uh because yes they did part with the five first round picks but the Knicks get their guy in maau Bridges and you know there there were some wavering reports in terms of the Knicks approach to this to this deal and how the deal got done well Shawn Marx met with the media today and shed a little insight on what happened here let’s listen to it and and we’ll react on the other side here’s show marks no we were not stay on this deal for very long at all um Leon and I talked for a couple of days on this thing and it moved very very quickly and you could tell how interested they were in in adding M to that group which obviously that’s been talked about for for a variety of different reasons uh and M didn’t know until I called him and told him said hey look we’re getting down here so there was I think it’s been reported that M wanted to leave or requested a tribe that could not be further from the truth I think that’s just not in M’s character it’s not who he is uh and and that that definitely did not happen but he was he was told by me when I called him up and and uh let him know that we’re at the uh two yard line all right so that was Shaw marks reacting to the deal shedding given his Insight on the deal there were reports out there that maau Bridges had went to the Nets representatives and and said hey look I’m I’m not going to sign with you he refutes that maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle but look obviously it was obvious that the Knicks wanted him Hart Bruns and the Nova connection wanted him there it was obvious that maau Bridges wanted to be a Nick and as Shawn Mark said Leon Rose called him and and uh reiterated their interest and obviously the interest was sincere and that did when the Knicks were ready to um uh hand over all of their draft capital or most of it to get their guy they feel like this is their guy so the Knicks did what they had to do to get their guy mcau Bridges here now I have I had been told that the press conference from the Cal Bridges is tomorrow on Tuesday let’s see what happens there but that’s what that’s the information that that I got um from my people that that the Macau Bridges press conference will be tomorrow so we we’ll stand by on that note but on the bridges trade and and you heard you know me and Q Rich talking about the the aprons and the moves that teams made or didn’t make I think we really have to give this Nicks front office a lot of credit I mean they’ve been getting a lot of credit over the years they’ve done some really really good things and a great job but the two weeks after the bridges trade it was discussed that the Knicks are trying to finalize the trade in a way that they would be able to send more salary out than they were taking in trying to navigate the challenges of the CBA and not be uh capped out at the first apron hard capped at the first apron which would further restrict their ability to finalize the roster and move forward into the future so here it is with this deal they add the aite they add Shake Milton in the signning trade and even Shake Milton’s acquisition when he first got here was a little bit under reported but the way in which they were able to sign Shake Milton and the amount that they gave him gave them the wiggle room to add him into this deal and and get it done so like these are the type of margin moves that we’re talking about here that can take you a long way so for Leon Rose man this is the era I said it out on Twitter this is the era of cap management and Savvy scouting and when it comes to what they’re doing whether it’s Brock ol or team or whoever’s crunching numbers and and with the calculators in the back they’re doing an excellent job navigating the challenges of this CBA you got to be you got to be on it because that is how you can take advantage of team and this CBA is humbling teams this this off seon from the Phoenix Suns you see Denver two years in a row they get they lose Bruce Brown and now they lose kcp they lose kcp because they didn’t want to move into the second apron so now they have to trust that their young players will take another step up like a Christian Brown a Julian strawther and hope that your MVP Nicole OIC can make them better because that’s the only way that the Denver Nuggets are going to remain contenders contenders in the west is by their young players and yes joic and Murray and Michael Porter for as long as he’s on the team Aaron Gordon have to lead the way but your Supporting Cast is also going to be important Red Storm 84 the devil is in the details absolutely the devil’s absolutely in the details so Leon Rose and and Wes and all those guys are doing an excellent job great job by them now over the weekend Ari flared up again on Twitter the toxic boy Ari and again was was not happy about the the picks going out the deal now he got a lot of tomatoes on Twitter he got a lot of tomatoes here when he first made the comment but my comment to Ari and to everyone out there was with the Knicks being able to now be hard capped at the second apron they have the money to go get precious and they got to bring it back because they’re losing they’re losing candidates here by the day I mean at this point we got to call ER bar Baron and see what he’s doing so it seems like they they’re going to have to go get precious back and then do they can they still swing a trade for Nick Richards I don’t think Walker Kessler is a realistic option never know but at the end of the day like I was telling Ari think about the moves that they made this off season and the move they didn’t make the Knicks are not done they are not done there’s one more Target that is on their radar and we’re going to talk about that on tomorrow show the Knicks are not done there’s one more guy that they want some of you guys have an ideas the reports have been out there and I’m telling you there’s a guy that they want that’s all I can tell you right now well we’ll talk more tomorrow on that front these guys are doing an excellent job and get there and and we’ll see what happens there Johnny B Johnny Bryant guys out of there Johnny Bryant is headed to the uh Cleveland Cavaliers so spider Mitchell gets his wish he gets the bag from Cleveland obviously his options were running out when the Knicks did not decline to show further interest Kenny Atkinson is there so now so now the Cleveland Cavaliers belong to Donovan Mitch Johnny Bryant goes from associate head coach of the Knicks to associate head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers for some of you this is a nightmare your coaching dream your coaching nightmare is gone so he goes to Cleveland so clearly he was brought here to deliver the spider and when plans changed and they said all right thanks thanks for your services you know hey what what what he what can he do Johnny B’s gone man shout out to him though he’s a nice guy got a chance to know him a little bit over the years and hey we we’ll see what the what the future holds for him as a coach but as of right now it will not be with the New York nicob Bakers Man Johnny Bryant heads back to no not heads back to reunites with reun with the Spider-Man so there that is he goes to Cleveland Mo Cheeks heads to the Nick bench as that was reported earlier this um this off season earlier in the offseason all right what else we got for you guys salute to everybody in the chat hit that thumbs up button for you boys like share and subscribe give me a retweet if you can just looking at my notes Here got to make sure that we get everything for you guys okay all right oh what else happened here oh FEA basketball look at this Evan forier and Dennis Schroeder get into a little fisted cuffs Evan Evan forier goes full of TR spell in the Olympic qualifier a little friendly match here between uh Germany and France Evan forier was was not too pleased with Dennis Schroeder’s theatrics and let him know about it not one but two hands he he went Xavier McDaniel Style on West Matthews whoa it’s been a it’s been a frustrating last couple of years for for8 but yeah that that’s that uh escalated quickly didn’t it and then after that in typical uh Euro fashion they kissed the Meetup they gave each other a hug they they talked it out you don’t see this in uh in the NBA you know you don’t see this right away after things get physical that way so good job by them and and as people joked they could potentially be future teammates so they might as well kiss a make up now so things don’t get Awkward come training camp salute to everybody in the chat once again hit that thumbs up button for you boys all right what else make sure I didn’t miss anything here iHeart iHeart met with the media in in OKC and talked about uh why he left the Knicks let’s hear from ihart man here we go here’s I heart decision to leave your situation in New York and just what was it about the thunder organization that Drew you in um I mean if I’m honest it was hard you know let me let me get a a bigger video here let me get a bigger video here here’s iHeart difficult was the decision to leave your situation in New York and just what was it about the thunder organization that Drew you in um I mean if I’m honest it was hard I mean I was um in a situation I me I love my teammates out in New York um I really appreciate what tibs and Leon did for me and uh the fans in New York were uh showed a lot of love but um I mean going into the situation um just very excited I mean from AF I always um saw how the culture was especially um I mean since since they’ve been in OKC how they established a culture um the style of play I think really fits fits me I’m a high IQ player um there have a lot of guys who cut so I think to me I’m one of the best passes in the in the NBA and then um and then just the culture I mean again um very family based and so um it was just something that was really exciting to me um felt like I can really expand my game here um just especially talking to Mark how open open-minded he is so um it’s really exciting for me and then just defensively I mean I think I can still bring a lot to the team I mean I feel like they were really good really good last year but then bringing um Kusa myself and I think we we hopefully we’ll take another step in that you mentioned talking to Mark I just wonder what did all right so that was ihart the former Nick a lot of you guys are tight at him man a lot of you guys are tight man I mean the comment section was wasn’t too friendly I I thought you know I would extend him an invite to to the once Nick always Nick cookout maybe it’s a little too soon for you guys man look he got the bag he’s G to a good situation H how can you blame him I I do think or at least I do know that there are basketball reasons why he left as well and you know that that’s all I’ll say on that front there are basketball reasons that that he left so um and then I and then IH heart’s contract uh let me see the the final terms of the deal two years fully guaranteed two years fully guaranteed uh which is worth 58 million and a team option year three worth 28 a half so the contract starts at 30 million and descends so there you go that that is the update on ihart if you care about him oh and what do you know what do you know what do you know they said CP what are you talking about hey I put it out there on Saturday here’s Stephan bondie Macau bridg is speaking to the media tomorrow first introduction of a new Nicks player since Kemba forier somebody uh at my guy Stephan Bondi and say hit edit on the tweet and say as first reported by CP the franchise and the good people dick fan TV on Saturday okay hey can’t say I didn’t tell you king d one one day they will understand somebody in chat I put that out there on Saturday somebody in the chat said are you sure you don’t have sources I said you must be new here like I said we’ll talk tomorrow about what I wanted to talk about all right we’ll we’ll talk tomorrow on that but as I said on Saturday maau Bridges will be meeting with the media on Tuesday we’ll get the sound bites we’ll react to it on Tuesday night right here in the number one show for the fans by the fans hit the like button hit the share button and subscribe to the channel don’t play with me man 908 what’s your name where you calling in from yo it’s Jaden from uh Philly hey how are you man I’m good how are you uh big Nick fan just want to keep it quick so hopefully we can get Walker Kesler for I don’t even know I’ve read online that the Jazz might be interested in trading for a few picks but I think we should uh try to get our big Center at the trade deadline hopefully you know maybe the Lakers by chance are down in the uh crapper you know doing terrible and they’re looking to re refresh maybe a trade ad for Julius Randle uh Mitchell Robinson and maybe Deuce I don’t know if that’s possible who who wait give me that name again give me that name one more time I was saying maybe we can uh trade at the trade deadline uh Anthony Davis trade out uh Julius Randall Mitch Robinson and Deuce I don’t know if that’s possible but it’d be pretty cool yeah that’s pretty much it though thanks man can’t call back anytime appreciate the call yeah I mean obviously nice to meet you thank you man yeah I mean obviously I I would uh I would love ad um but I don’t I don’t think they’re going to bail on on JJ reic that fast you know it’s it’s the reic braon bronny ad group that that’s going to move things forward for the Lakers until Laker fans run them out of town so I don’t see that happening just yet 917 I saw your number and I accident clicked off of it call back if you’d like to get in that that was my fault salute to everybody in the chat once again hit that thumbs up button for you boys CP the fanchise on the checkin shout out to my guys on the Facebook Ty Clemens is in here Alexander Wilson Rody demon mickens Darlene Barry salute salute gamit aard on the uh on the Facebook as well o my guy’s getting tomatoes in the chat man yesh chat chat’s making Ragu chat’s making Ragu out of the guy do you know so uh there it is what what else we got is 917 going to call in okay here we go 917 last caller of the night what’s your name where you calling in from h yes hello sir how are you man oh Mike Mike from Brooklyn what’s going on Big Mike what’s the deal taking it easy man I I heard you just say IH heart left for basketball reason yeah yeah that’s crazy that that’s that that’s yeah that’s how what I understand what’s the reasons you’re hearing you can’t speak on it yeah yeah I don’t really want to speak on it um I don’t really want to speak on it I I’ll just say that but but it certainly financially was a big deal right but but I think there there were some BB reasons as well yeah I heard he he may want to shoot the three these guys are delusional tibs get you 30 million playing his style of ball now you want to play a different style that was you were a journey man playing your style of ball yeah these guys are delusional man we we we don’t want him on this team thinking like that yeah um Good Luck you know what the I remember like a couple people I was speaking about speaking to didn’t feel like OKC was going to spend that much on ihart because you know they play a five out system and they’re going to have to change everything around I didn’t believe that for one second because number one he helps him show up the rebounding issues he can play in space he’s a great passer high IQ player he can fit in anywhere and it doesn’t mean that he has to be a de facto starting center the way that they they rotate guys and and do minutes distribution and say press even said it there’s no guarantees what he gives OKC is options optionality and you got Mark dieago Coach of the Year good coaches know how to get the most out of the players that they have yeah but how many times you see a guy leave tibs or or or or leave a team where it just everything is right yeah and you never hear from guys again yeah I mean look big bag yeah he takes a little less he might make more throughout his career than just jumping on that big bag now in two years I don’t think they’re gonna pick up his option in year three yeah two years he’s playing for peanuts again that that is fair man that is fair um well you know what they have that option in that two years remember that that was the that was the thinking around OKC’s investment or potential investment was that you know they’re going to have to pay chck pay SGA maybe jayen Williams so they want that option to decide whether or not they’re going to move forward with ihart or not and and that’s how these teams are doing business man so good luck to him he he was a good soldier for the Knicks great player great locker room guy great recommendation by CP the franchise as well man so good luck to ihart and his family good people as well and for you guys man I’ll see you guys tomorrow Bleacher Report Simo cast on Nicks fan TV as well special guest my guy ariel helwani is 1. Yea shoutout Q Rich he understands the game and you can tell he’s a neutral commentator on the game def should have him on more

  2. I haven't heard a word yet and I guarantee this will be better than what you do with Kmart… Bring Q on more often

  3. AS A KNICKS FAN, ONCE PHILLY PICKED UP PAUL GEORGE, I WAS KIND OF EVEN WITH THE KNICKS A LIL EDGE FOR THE SIXERS ONCE WE LOST HARTENSTIEN, BUT ONCE THEY PICKED UP CALEB MARTIN THE 76RS ARE SURELY 2ND IN THE EAST AND BETTER THAN THE KNICKS.😮

  4. The hub that ihart became was really only needed while randle was out.. he can provide that while Mitch handles defense

  5. “First it was 2 yrs/$60m then they went up Inches inches inches to now it’s $44.5 a year” 😭😭😭 my broke ahhh inches for them is millions.
