[Blackburn] It’s very possible that this gets done over the next few days, but from everything that I’ve heard, both sides are protecting themselves in negotiations, and a straight up, plain max extension offer without any stipulations has not been offered by the team.

Booth certainly has a different way of doing things than TC.
I love Murray but idk what leverage he has. If he hits free agency, there’s no way someone else gives him 50 million. I’m glad the front office isn’t just giving him the max cause he’s here.
Just trade Jamal already. Brandon Ingram is a better player and makes the same $$$.
So is Jamal betting on himself, thinking he can make All-NBA next season and become eligible for a supermax? That’s probably not gonna work out for him.
If he doesn’t sign this extension, it puts us in a shitty position. We’d have to trade him at the deadline or risk losing him for nothing, and I doubt his market would be very good.
Nuggets had already shown faith in him by sticking by him throughout the injuries, time for Murray to return the favor.
I don’t get why Nuggs would care about having stipulations in this. Championship aspirations rest on Jamal and Jokic staying healthy and playing at a high level. Being able to claw back a few mil if Jamal cannot do that won’t allow the team to somehow pivot into something else that still makes them a contender.
Also, anyone stating that nobody would give Jamal $50mil in FA is crazy. You don’t think the Spurs with a ton of cap space would not pay that for a championship caliber PG that provides playmaking and shooting around Wemby and Castle? Jamal has plenty of leverage in this situation, Booth needs to just get it done and not let it drag out.
Pickett getting Max next year 👀 /s
Maybe Nuggets are trying to put a “body conditioning” clause like the Heat have! Lol
Maybe Booth should send someone from the Timberwolves to negotiate, they seem to know how to take care of Jamal.
So, I’ve had this positive take on this situation that I’d like to share. We don’t talk about it, but the loyalty we showed murray and his love for the team and city is why this is good news that he didn’t sign it yet. We stuck with murray while he was out and worried he might be broken goods, and Murray is the type of honorable guy that recognizes that. He’s holding out to make sure that in case he gets hurt in the olympics it’s not a bad contract, and the team is making sure it’s still fair even if he takes the huge leap to allstar/best pg in NBA not named Luka
I love Jamal bit he should not earn more than Donovan Mitchell.
Fuck all of this. Pay that man. I cannot emphasize enough that we would not have our first NBA Championship ever, without Jamal.
Guarantee every penny and let’s get this contact signed ffs.
I don’t understand “fans” applauding playing hardball with Murray. Why are you more concerned with the bank account of a billionaire than the actual player who was foundational in bringing the first NBA title to Denver? It’s not your money. Who cares. Nuggets will be capped out anyway, probably as a second apron team or close to it.
Gives a different look on his performance this playoffs. How long has he known this was coming, as far as not getting the price he feels he deserves 🤔
This is the problem when you never achieve personal accolades. If he had made an All NBA team this wouldn’t even be up for debate. But he hasn’t. Then again. The Nuggets don’t have much leverage either. What is their actual back up plan if they piss him off?
To those arguing “just pay him whatever”
Is that really the way it is now? Just write a blank check and give the players everything they want? Zero negotiating?
I get it for top 5-10 players. I get it for young up and coming stars. And for most all stars.
But the front office is supposed to give jamal the absolute max with every option, incentive and bonus possible?
