DaRon Holmes Excited For Opportunity, Nuggets Teammates & More

since we last talked to you what have you been up to uh just been working you know been in the gym getting used to the plays um getting used to my teammates understanding the coaches so it’s been good what is what happened today at practice what was the emphasis uh just play hard and you know it’s a lot of stuff that’s being thrown at us right now but um they’re saying the biggest things is to play hard and get through it you know and you know just show that you’re willing to work you know so most looking forward to in your first summer league experience honestly just getting able to play you know being able to play with the team being able to win games and experience these moments together I’m excited you know you’re wearing a nugget uniform it’s what are the coaches kind of you in terms of the expectations some just saying take one thing step at a time uh there’s a reason League it’s to get to understand the plays getting you ready to know uh getting used to everything it’s a lot getting going at we’re just trying to get used to everything told that Julian reached out after you were drafted help beneficial has he been to your progression at getting used to this organization especially having experienced Summer League last year he’s been amazing you know um even in the court he’s helping me walk through things that I might not understand just yet um Hunter’s doing it J pick is doing it all of them are doing it you know so it’s a I’m very grateful to be in this position to have guys that are will up you talked so much about how you just want to get to work they have a anything yet when you first got here what’s it been like for you to finally get on the floor what’s been your mentality it’s been it’s been great you know it’s kind of like freshman year all over again um it’s it’s a lot it’s a lot but you know it’s something that it’s a learning it’s learning experiences and that’s what’s fun about it you know you get to learn through adversity and you get to grow so I’m excited to keep grow how do you make sure that you stay patient with yourself and learning all these new things just taking things one step at a time breathing asking questions asking the coaches the coaches have been very helpful my teammates have been very helpful so um I’m just grateful to be in this situation what position do you see yourself playing at the NBA level I know you played four or some five in college what position do you see yourself as I’m probably mainly going to be at the core from what I’m seeing right now but also have to be able to learn the five as well so is there a specific aspect of your game that you want to experiment during the summer league that you can kind of get some before the honestly I’m just going to do what I do you know um I feel like I’m versatile enough already uh just being able to play in the system you know play hard on defense rebound the ball talk communicate and just learn that’s really all how beneficial are like getting real game reps uh at this juncture in the season as you PR very benefici it’s been a minute since I’ve played an actual pickup game you know this is the first time we got up and down to practice so um I’m very grateful it’s been great what’s your favorite shot or your favorite AC to get FL oh well I mean I like all of them right now so I can’t really pick one but it’s still aive so still learning them but they’re all good action when you look at your schedule in summer leag is there a player you’re most excited to go up against everybody you know I think this is a great team I’m more excited to just play with these teammates um I feel like we have a very good team and we’re ready to get out there so you went to Little Man Ice Cream the other day to describe your game as an ice cream Play salty or very versatile salty did you get to cut the lime H I didn’t I don’t I didn’t get sometimes still got it yeah yeah it it’s crazy but uh today the day when it wasn’t that bad the Nugget organization obviously is investing in the youth you Julian jayen and Hunter what does it do for the bond of you young guys knowing that this organization is investing in the young for I think that’s part of what makes this organization special uh they’re willing to help develop a guy you know they’re not so quick to um they understand you know they understand we’re getting better over time to look at uh way they build the organization you know that’s part of it that’s why the winning beams it’s why’re so good because guys play together time I’m justful how exciting is it to see that the pillars of this organization yage Murray Porter they were guys that were drafted and developed and that’s something that they probably have a vision for as well oh yeah it’s it’s very cool you know it’s it’s a blessing see I just know that you know they were all positions that we were coming in of the coaches have been really helpful so far coaching alone just notic he walked in you had a chance to talk to him much what has been his message yeah uh he did he talked he just said the same thing I’ve been saying you know it’s a lot of stuff being thrown at me at once he understands I’m not going to be perect rest of guys as well so I think his overall message just to play hard regardless and do what you do you know continue to play hard through it thank you
