[Coach Gibson Pyper] Draymond knew the Thunder were going to hunt Steph, so he preswitches to move Steph off ball. Then Klay/Steph switch off the ball again to put Klay on Chet. Classic Warriors triple switch.

Just came across this tweet again on Twitter just now and it’s the stuff like this that the hoop nerd in me is really going to miss. The way they barely communicate because they know exactly what the other means before they even finish gesturing and just seamlessly triple switch without so much as a word exchanged is the kind of thing only teammates who’ve played together as long as they have can pull off.

The three of them operate via mind meld when they’re on the court together and it’s just art. I know we’ll still have Steph/Dray mind melds for a couple more years, but there’s something about when it’s all three that makes you feel like you’re watching a symphony vs a duet.

Good find! We did this a lot against the mavs in the 2022 WCF when it was Luka or Brunson trying to force the switch on Steph.

We were really disciplined defensively that season

That is a thing of beauty. The fluidity in which it happens. Effortless. Only possible after playing together for so long.

The start of the season had so much potential

it’s why kuminga is so overrated as a defender. and same with moody.

they don’t do these kind of switches.

in some extent pod does some of these switches

unfortunately we stopped doing a lot of pre and post switching for long stretches of the season, cuz its too complicated for certain players
