the Grizzlies game last night and they were interviewing Jared McCain from the lobby of his beautiful Hotel in Salt Lake City and the super was Jared McCain 3.5 million Tik Tok followers I just wanted to know what his stats were from his summer league debut I just wanted to know how Jared McCain played and instead all they did was talk about Tik toks and I was like this is how my favorite app gets ruined we can’t have them talking about tick toks on Sports Center I think I think and they’re not only cool anymore I think that your app is fine I think it’s for for that generation coming up while it lasts I’m not sure how much longer it’s going to last but for now it’s in existence so I think it’s fine we are not and I I feel comfortable speaking for an entire people here we are not in a rush because it is hot and humid and the second I got off the plane yesterday at Memphis International yes International Airport it ain’t the heat it’s the humidity every time between the rain and the heat it is like a sauna outside here in Memphis it’s both why you to be prepared it’s both it’s it can be both heat and humidity it’s also hot as hell it’s hot yeah but it was hot as hell where we were in Seattle it was 90 which as you know from the great lore of our wedding where we were in a heat wave in Seattle where the normal temperature was supposed to be 75 and it was a cool 105 with no air conditioning we’re used to a little burst of heat there but no one has air conditioning no so it’s it’s unbearably hot it was 1 120 in Vegas I’m already paring for summer league next week when it to Las Vegas 120° I think Vegas is on track to have the hottest week ever in Vegas history I think it’s this week I hope for your sake it is this week I’m just hopeful that next week There’s a cool down from like 120 to 110 which seems so nice but it’s dry So Co dry heat it’s dry heat it’s dry heat again it’s not the hum can you imagine if it was 120 with humidity yeah that’s India right now could not breathe India they’re people are dying over there from their heat wave cuz it is 120 plus the humidity over there it was funny because we actually flew through Salt Lake City yesterday to get back to Memphis and I didn’t put two and two together until we were walking down the Jet Bridge in the Salt Lake City airport to go make our connecting flight back to Memphis where I said wait why don’t we just stay here and go to the Grizzlies Summer League game like I I did not compute that the Grizzlies played a game in Salt Lake City last night we were flying through Salt Lake City I could have gone and seen the beginning of Zack Edy with my very own eyeballs but instead we got home with plenty of time and I was so glad that we did because we got to watch the sweet sweet Memphis Grizzlies last night and we even got summer league overtime CJ free basketball in the summer what a joy what a gift 22 minutes of an Elam ending it takes 22 minutes to score seven points a beautiful thing it ends with free throws which was perfect because we saw 63 free throws in a summer league game Grizzlies fall short 97 to 95 keonte George with the game-winning free throws for Utah shout out to him for his 30 points on five of 21 shooting a real beautiful stat line but obviously the loss does not matter repeat after me if you think a summerly gloss matters please I beg of you touch grass touch the sky do something other than get concerned about a loss in the first game of Summer League may I ask you how how to touch the sky how does one touch the sky you become Zaki there was a that’s the only answer there was a picture going around every time this picture goes around I’m just like yo that that is a large person Zach just hanging on the rim flat foot almost flat footy it’s like oh shoot he is tall and long so he can touch the sky that’s I’m inspired after watching One Night of zachi uh it is the the perfect example though where the loss of Summer League does not matter the only thing that matters and there are a few things that mattered last night but the biggest of which being the biggest guy on the court and that is that Zack Ed looked absolutely awesome like that is precisely what you wanted to see from Zach EDI and summer league is all for being wildly hyperbolic after one Summer League game but you watch last night’s game and you think to yourself man the Grizzlies they got a steal with the number nine pick in this year’s draft look at the Finish look at the oh the MDG and the poster on Walker Kessler on actual young good big NBA player Walker Kesler I know some people wanted to see a little Zack Ed Kenneth Lofton Jr action going into last night instead you saw Zach Edy uh work his way around Walker Kessler look dominant on both sides of the court and he finishes with a double double we talked about it last week he can be the kind of player who rolls out of bed and gets himself a double double but you’re watching him and you’re like that Zach Clan’s done it again that’s the most fun response that you can have from game one of Summer League for a team is when all of that hope that you have convinced yourself that you have wrapped up into a play player you see the first glimpse of it and the main thing that we will remember is yes the double double of 14 points 15 rebounds yes the blocks yes the dunk on Walker Kessler but you have the end of that game where Zach EDI gets the ultimate Redemption moment because he could have put the Grizzlies ahead with a potential game-winning putback dunk on the Scotty Pippen Jr Miss he misses the dunk Utah goes and gets a pair of free throws from Isaiah Collier they a foul up three smart move except the Grizzlies have Zach Edy and they have Jake laravia who makes the first free throw has the most perfect Miss of a second free throw that you could ask for and Zach Edy is there he’s ready to box out and he’s ready for the tip and suddenly we’re going to overtime and Zach Ed getting the game tying tip minutes after he had missed the potential game-winning dunk is an immediate like forget the bad moment move on to the good you see it you see all of the NBA conversation everybody within the NBA was tuned into this game because Zach is one of the most hyped players going into the summer league period because people want to see how he looks is he just big tall guy or is he actually a fit for the Memphis Grizzlies and to have the touch and the tip in that moment um that is what I will remember from Zach’s summer league debut amongst other pieces of his game that obviously stand out but like you had the signature moment you had the signature play the play that makes Sports Center Zach was the Second Story on every single Sports show this morning and that’s a cool place to be if you’re the Memphis Grizzlies best moment from laria’s career so far is a Grizzly right there oh stop Jake was great last night best game for Jia and his Memphis Grizzly career so far I what what else um in made you excited about Zack Ed’s game I am glad that you asked well that’s what I’m here to do let’s go through the aggression that’s what I’m he cuz I took notes in order as we were watching 7 foot4 Zack Ed make his Memphis Grizzly’s debut what immediately stands out and gu the people talking it’s the screens CJ it’s the screens sending people into other dimensions and it’s the screens in a summerly game where it’s like okay cool look how he’s getting Scotti Pippen Jr open and you think to yourself what it can be you start fantasizing about what it would be what it will be when it’s johnar and we’ve seen what John can work with with an open Lane it’s call 12 it’s air2 either he takes it himself or he finds one of the Grizzly’s many knockdown Shooters whether it be a Desmond Bane getting a wide open shot in that situation A Vince Williams insert player here not Gigi Jackson last night I know Gigi had a bit of a tough game and we’ll get into that as well but the screens were how would you describe Zack Ed’s screens what word would you use tough to get around wide I guess I think Brick Wall Waterfall boy you think you got it all you don’t I do so okay I don’t know why that came listen it’s fine you got it I’ve been on vacation Brick Wall Waterfall I think I think with with the screens because when I when I see uh when people talk about Zack Eed they talk about Zack Edy in a role similar to what Stephen Adams’s was where Stephen Adams is ball screening to get John Morant just that little sliver of space and one of the really cool things that Stephen Adams was able to do I think this comes with experience time understanding doing this for a while is Stephen Adams was great at just coming up behind you and standing there and then waiting to the last possible moment to decide on which side the screen was going to be set on like a really smart Savvy play and often times he let the guard the ball handler decide which way he was going to set the screen and I think that if Zack e can do that which I don’t think he did a bunch of last night I think it was just very clearly I’m coming up on the left to set a screen coming up on the right and setting a screen I’m ganed off the gray you shall not pass this is how it’s going to work I think that if he takes it to another level as far as screening goes where not just to come up behind and set one of those flat back screens and then maybe the CLA side super late even screening his guy even Stephen Adams was great at this he come up to set the screen and realize oh John Morant Desmond Bane whoever the ball handler is is already by their guy I don’t need to screen their guy I need to screen my guy having that type of savviness will go a long way in making Edie a much more effective screener than he already is and he’s a really really really effective screener and just wide open spaces yes and you got a taste of that Wide Open Spaces getting downhill putting pressure on the defense which either has to collapse or just let you go all the way to the rim unimpeded screens are great then he had about rebounds in six minutes and you think oh that’s great Grizzlies needed rebounding one of the key needs for this team this off season was somebody who gets rebounds and Zach e had six of his 15 in the opening minutes of that game he’s getting blocks which was nice to see some of the concerns about what is his defense going to look like at the NBA level and yes it’s summer league and nobody watches summer league for defense but there were moments where I was impressed with Zack Ed’s Poise and composure on the defensive end of the Court my big but when you say poison composure on the defensive end you mean around the rim around the rim and just not looking like he was getting swallowed up by The Game and again going up against a walker Kessler going up against Kyle filipowski who was making his rookie debut who had zero points off the bench for the Jazz last night just looking like a dominant Force which is what you wanted from Zach Ed but the biggest thing that I wanted two we’ll call them surprises from Zach Ed that I think were the most important takeaways because you knew or you hope HED you were going to get boards you were going to get blocks you were going to get some nice inside finishes the screens were a nice touch and gets everyone ooing and awing and thinking about the future I was so curious how Zack Ed moves right because we looked at the NBA Combine and his his numbers were really good but there were still concerns of that Grizzlies team they play fast and loose is Zach Ed going to be able to keep up with this group of Grizzlies with the modern NBA is he too big and slow and old plotting Giant type and I thought Zack Ed moved really well yesterday and one of the moments that stood out was I believe it was in the second quarter where Walker kler actually went down and you saw the heads up on Edy understanding that Kesler was down and he hit that burst and it was a full-court Sprint to the Finish wide open Lane finished it off a maybe a Gigi pass in transition and I was like oh he moves shout out Jaylen for the perfect timing watch that gy hit this burst right here where he knows he has the hole goes through wide open finish there were multiple times like last night even after he had the small ankle concern where everybody collectively was like we suffered through the season of injuries please do not let the number nine pick in this year’s draft find himself injured in the first game of summer league and you saw Zack refused to he started going back to the locker room he came back out wanted to be on the bench he was back in the game in minutes and even when he looked like slightly hobbled like there was a little [ __ ] in his step which he got over as he kept running through it he moved well like put that with the touch around the rim we saw even with just the tip he just has good touch but he always felt like he was moving quickly efficiently and good reflexes as well and that was something that stood out to me the other thing was him getting a technical foul in summer league in the best of ways because all the talk about could he be a Stephen Adams replacement is one of the wasn’t a concern but more just something I didn’t anticipate from zachie was him buying into the enforcer role particularly immediately and you saw him play enforcer last night like he had Jake laravia back he had his teammates back in a summer league game where and why aren’t we throwing out Tex in summer league and it was so funny listening to the broadcast be like oh we’ve got something going here but this moment where Zach Ed is under the basket and you see sensah and Edie gave him like the little bump the little words and comes back and he wants to go at it then he realizes it’s 7 fo4 Zack eating he’s like no I’m good and that was the most also GG Jackson in the back there can we can we throw that up one more time because gigg Jackson doing like the cartoon like booty pop out fight was excellent theater work from Gigi Jackson in the moment uh but to see Zach e you’re like oh you’re going to fit in just fine like you are you are Memphis welcome that was when I finally fired off my first tweet of the night where I was like you are perfect zachi you are perfect consensual heart hands not in a weird way like that reporter did with Caitlyn Clark back in the day but like we love you welcome to Memphis um this is exactly what you’re looking for and again like it’s summer we know it’s summer leag but this is where you get excited about some of those like little things and to have that fortitude I guess we should have known like didn’t Z drop an F bomb during March Madness if I remember correctly in one of the postgame interviews he’s got a little spice we’ve seen bits and pieces of it uh but within that we got a good amount of it did you enjoy the Zach technical ah come on it’s summer league what do we mean no Enjoy is not the right word for for summer league I don’t find any of it particularly enjoying but I will say it was um encouraging to see some of the things that did one of them being all right we’re I’m not going to get pushed around and I’m not going to allow my teammate to get pushed around and I think if he can do that in summer league he can do that in the NBA in a in a league where we’ve got some players who feed off of that sort of thing right like Draymond Patrick Beverly immediately come to mind as agitators who want to push you around and see you fold mentally whatever that looks like for you Dylan Brooks is another one wants to see you fold mentally it was nice to see him show some mental and physical fortitude in that moment like no this isn’t that we are not going to be bullied out of what we want want to do as a team you say Summer League games you can’t get that up for a summer league game and I agree like we can pump the brakes however I will say I I remember where I was for jiren Jackson Jr’s first Summer League game I watched it in the sky I was on an airplane I watched him hit all those threes and I thought to myself o the Grizzlies got something exciting with jiren Jackson Jr which is better than the alternative where you’re watching the first Summer League game or someone’s summer league debut and you’re thinking o I don’t know if I see the vision quite so clearly you remember where you were for jiren I remember where I was for Josh Shelby’s um Summer League MVP I do believe I remember exactly where I was for for that moment as well that is why my stance on summer Le sits and stands where it it sits and stand you want to know what I did find myself thinking last night and this is taking nothing away I remember Kenneth Lofton Jr’s summer league debut oh yeah in Salt Lake City going up against CH chat holgren I can’t remember was his debut or but one of those first games in Salt Lake and he had that entire Arena chanting Kenny and that’s when we learn went by Junior and he had this game and it was you know him going out it with Chad and oh this is exciting and Shout out I appreciate Grizzly’s Twitter for nobody tweeting anything dumb about Kenneth Lofton Jr yesterday like we can move on from the the past and into the beautiful future of Zach but our chat question of the day is last night’s Grizzly sumar League performance was fill in the blank and 55% of you have voted for encouraging 16% has said good enough 4% concerning we need to have a discussion because if you’re concerned after one game of wanted to win but just a lot of learning opportunities 14 points 15 rebounds four blocks 34 minutes on the floor couple floor burns all of those kind of things you put into that effort tonight what did it feel like uh it’s it’s great you know just kind of trying to get comfortable trying to learn the system trying to learn learn how to play with everybody and getting comfortable on the NBA floor um it was fun you don’t show a lot of emotion but when you got that dunk that putback over Walker kesley’s head this is a a rotation NBA player he started a lot of games as well too what was that test like for you to go up against a guy that’s already been around blocking the league yeah I mean just just take as a challenge obviously like you said he’s a great player in the NBA um so kind of just taking that and and trying to trying to make my make the best out of it I I wanted that one for sure though what did it feel like uh just to be out there with your teammates this draft class we saw some moments from cam Spencer obviously uh Wells was out there didn’t knock down a lot of shots but was still able to be active you guys defended really really well yeah just just playing hard U just playing through your competitiveness sometimes when your shots not falling that’s all you can do just try to get stops try to make those Ty of plays try to get those rebounds I thought I thought they did really good really good with that right and then lastly what do you look to build on moving forward in summer league as you go from here just getting more comfortable with the system like learning learn how how the Grizzlies play um that’s all that’s all some Le boat just getting comfortable all right let’s get comfortable Zach Edy Michael Wallace gr City media keep it locked on all of our the plan might be for game two of the Grizzlies summer league time in Salt Lake City they play the Sixers later this evening they have three games in three days as they play the Thunder then tomorrow night on Wednesday Zach he took zero free throws last night which was interesting considering he took the second most free throws of all time in college basketball this past season and is someone who has gotten to the line excessively I would have loved to have seen the Grizzlies go to him more in that overtime period like just throw the seven foot4 guy the ball you’re in the post he’s got a nice little move he had been doing good work on Walker Kesler earlier in the game too just give Zack Edy the ball which brings us two GJ Jackson takes the three that could have given the Grizzlies the win we’re playing again 22 minutes of an Elum ending for a team to score seven points the magic number is 97 GG Jackson has a three did you have any issue with GG Jackson taking that three he was 0 of nine from the three-point line at the time of taking that shot no I I think Nei I think that it’s it’s it’s summer league but everybody has a role to feel not just on the summer league team but also should you be fortunate enough to play for the hustle and The Grizzlies mainly so as long as you’re taking a shot that I think you’ll take with the Grizzlies that’s what I’m looking at I don’t care I can’t I couldn’t care any less about who wins or loses these games what I care about is when you’re put in positions that I Envision you being put in when you play for the Grizzlies if you’re GG and Edy and I think that’s it maybe Scotti Pippen Jr right like if you you’re in those positions what do you look like and if you’re shying away from those moments in summer league in Salt Lake City then like what are you going to do in December when you’re you’re in Salt Lake City playing against the Jazz and you’re put in that moment again repetition practice this to me is practice is scrimmaging so for GG to take that shot I could absolutely see GG taking that shot in in a Grizzlies game and I want him to continue to take those shots throughout summer league so he can get into a bit of a rhythm for when October comes and he’s playing with the Grizzlies now I get it Ed is what Ed is he’s playing how he’s playing a double double in that game I think going into the overtime period what 1413 something like that um maybe you say hey let’s see if we can throw the ball down in the post to Edy and just clear out and let him go one-on-one let’s see what that looks like with the thought not being hey we got to win this game we got to we got to beat the Jazz in summer league but the thought being can we do this in a NBA regular season game maybe we should start feeding this big man now maybe if you want to make that that argument I could be on board with it but no I am a % okay with GG Jackson taking shots down Vision him taking when he plays for the Grizz completely agree with you I think everybody needs to chill like the people who I said to touch grass and touch the sky when it comes to taking an L A Summer League game same thing goes for GG Jackson apparently I didn’t know this but apparently people were were waving him on the Twitter oh it’s absurd I didn’t know that oh yeah that’s incredible they wanted him to win Rookie of the Year just two and a half three months ago the Twitter continues to be a cesspool of existence incredibly entertaining at times and I loved being back on it with all of you last night throughout that game but sometimes again just chill like you said this is somebody who had I’m not going to say a legitimate case for rookie of the year because that’s silly he did not that was Victor wanyama that was chep hongran but you did have a player who was recognized as second Team all rookie in the NBA last year a player who over his last 18 games of the Season scored over 20 a night with double figures in all 18 games he averaged 15 and four in his rookie season with the Memphis Grizzlies earned himself a full-time contract with the Memphis Grizzlies after starting the year on a two-way contract with the Memphis Hustle the expectation was that GG Jackson was going to spend most of last year in South Haven and then all of those injuries pop off and GG Jackson becomes one of the best stories of a particularly challenging Grizzly season and you have the moment with him on TNT and you have his final game of the season where he scored what 40 points GG Jackson showed so many reasons why if we had done the draft over again this year if he had stayed in college an additional year he would have likely been a top pick perhaps the number one pick in this year’s draft and instead the Grizzlies got him and he was the youngest player in the NBA last season he’s 19 years old and that is why he’s playing summer league now I did see a a fair amount of conversation going into summer league like ah GG already proved himself I doubt we see very much of him in summer league I think we see quite a bit of Gigi and for reasons that you just said because you want you all you want is for him to continue to get better to get more confident yes he goes 0 10 last night yes he led the team in 20 shot attempts I don’t care that GG Jackson led the team with 20 shot attempts he played legitimate Miss again he was second Team all rookie for the Grizzlies last season so who should lead the team and shot it to GG Jackson what are we what are we GG Jackson and Jake laravia two players who have actually played meaningful minutes for the Memphis Grizzlies two players who you want to see what they do again in these scrimmage type situations so you get a uh get them on them doing it you can point to them doing it and say Hey you see what you’re doing here great job keeping it up cuz that’s exactly where you’ll be come October with the Grizzlies or hey you see what you did here don’t do that do this learn so that when we get you up there playing with the Grizzlies you’ll be able to hit the ground running you won’t be a liabil you can play and contribute in meaningful ways if it’s not laia and not g leading the team in shot attempts I’m not really sure what is happening here are we playing to win these games CU you’re doing that if that’s your mentality you’re wrong play to get these dudes better and ready to go come October that’s what this is all about you’re playing for reps and okay if you want to make the case for well GG shouldn’t lead the team in shot attempts because GG’s never going to lead the actual Memphis Grizzlies team and shot attempts this season barring we’re not ever going to say barring because we will leave last season in the past and the Necessities that happened because of it um but right now it was game one of Summer League he was taking his shots he did have a couple I think he had two assists he would like to point out those two assists I saw him uh respond I think it was the ZD Muse Twitter account who had Zack Ed’s first bucket which came courtesy of a GG Jackson pass in that game um don’t sweat it he’s he’s gonna be just fine I will say from positives of last night’s game outside of Zack Edy um the other Grizzlies player on a two-way contract who I think could one day follow a similar path like a GG Jackson who came quickly out of his two-way into a full-time contract who Vince Williams earned his way off of a two-way contract and earned a full-time deal with the Memphis Grizzlies and I’m not saying this is happening now because he’s on a two-way I thought Scotty Pippen Jr looked like he belonged last night and I’ve spent a lot of time this offseason having conversations with people who are concerned about the backup point guard position for the Memphis Grizzlies and I have assured them time and time again the Grizzlies have a legitimate backup point guard in Scotty Pippen Jr he’s 23 years old he comes middle of last season and he did a fine job for the Grizzlies when he had to play at the position throughout last year you have John Moran like you have one of the best point guards in the NBA and what you need is somebody who is able to keep up the pressure keep up the tone coming off the bench eventually and I see it from Scotty Pippen Jr and I see it on both sides of the ball defensively I think he had three steals last night gambled a couple times he had a couple fouls couple turnovers as well you’re probably never going to have somebody who is as efficient on not turning the ball over as tus Jones because tus Jones has led the NBA in assist turnover ratio I will push back on that a little bit okay because I think he’s still a free agent and so like listen I was like broken y I’m saying is he’s out there you you could get a new TI Jones by going out there and getting ties just throwing that out there recklessly I had the weirdest this time of free agency all the names blend together and there are still many free agents out there I know we are all still waiting to find out what the situation is with Luke Canard but Chris yesterday while we were traveling was like Hey sign with the Pelicans I was like tus Jones signed with the Pelicans why why would T they just shed up there Ty Jones is gonna be a backup again the whole reason he went to Washington was because he wanted to be a starter and and Chris was like what are you talking about I said you said Ty Jones is gonna be a New Orleans Pelicans he goes no I said Daniel Ty and I was like oh Ty tus this is your brain on the NBA this time of year um but you’re right but I I really do think what Scotty Pippen uh Jr brings to this team was on display last night uh Pace he can score he’s a really good facilitator he’s young and we have just we’ve seen this blueprint before where a player has been on a two-way contract and I Derrick Rose is still on this roster um and The Grizzlies have some options at the backup point guard spot but I would expect uh based on last night based on one Summer League game a continued movement forward where there is an understanding that there an option right here right now and his name is Scotty Pippen Jr I I think the backup is shed up I think isn’t the backup in my head is still Marcus Smart so and that’s my point too that’s so you got Mar and we saw Dez play on the ball more you have Marcus Smart who even if he starts and I would expect him to start I know that’s one of the questions about this roster who’s starting on that Wing as your primary defensive stopper I think it’s still Markus smart but we saw him run point guard for the Celtics all those years years when they were getting to that NBA finals and to the Eastern Conference Finals that handful of times so he is a quality point guard a quality starting point guard I think you stagger those minutes with j and Marcus Marcus and J start the game when J comes out Marcus remains in or vice versa then one comes in and the other one comes back out they start games together they start halves together and then they close games together I as encouraging as Scotty Pippen Jr seeing what he’s able to do is I’m not sure if he is your backup point guard I I really do feel like it’s Marcus Smart and if somebody is injured Scotty Pippen can then insert himself more traditional someone who’s not playing another role in the positionist nature of basketball at this point no I completely agree and Nathan pointed out in the chat too um when it comes to him versus Aus Jones who is still on the market I just think what Scotty Pippen brings to you as a scorer and a Defender ceiling wise is a bit higher because we we know what tyus Jones Is Right like we saw it and yes he has the floater of all floaters and that’s great but I I really am encouraged by Scotty pipman Jr I was really encouraged by cam Spencer last night one of the other Grizzly rookies would love to see more Spencer on the cour I love to see more cam Spencer yeah down the stretch would have loved to see them fedi would have loved cam Spencer to be in the game and Jaylen Wells was in the game and he struggled last night uh Jaylen Wells was from three 0 of four he’s One n from the field rough debut for him he had a couple good looks um and I think it’s just a matter of we’ll continue to see more that’s what summer league is for like you said to get more experience learning how to play with NBA players learning how to play in the setting in the system uh but scam scam scam Spencer cam Spencer who signed his two-way earlier in the day with the Grizzlies comes into that game and man I love that guy like I loved him at Yukon he was three of five from three last night which is great you have a shooter I saw some Purdue fans being like oh finally we can watch Zach Ed and cam Spencer play together and don’t have to worry about cam Spencer like the assassin on the other side now they’re teammates that’s fun but we talked about Ed screens cam Spencer had a screen last night on Walker Kessler that sent him into another abyss and he just plays with the oomph like it’s it’s just watching him and the energy of which he plays with I’m very excited about cam Spencer and I would have loved for him to have been in the game late uh down the stretch we will continue to see how he evolves but you felt the same way about cam yeah cuz cam for for me when I got back and I saw who the gries had drafted the one I was most excited to see was cam cam Spencer that that is in today’s NBA perfect he is a guy who you can’t leave open for three I remember watching Yukon play throughout the season thinking oh no cam Spencer open in the corner open on on the wing ah you made a mistake that’s a bucket and sure enough it would be a a bucket I think cam Spencer is a tremendous shooter he shot about 44% from three last year 42% overall for his his career in college at Yukon I want to see if that translates sometimes shooting doesn’t translate the same sort of way it’s hard to get a shot off in the NBA it’s a bunch of athletes running around a bunch of freaks of nature with really really long arms running around contestant shots it could be hard to get those shots off I’m I want to see if Cam Spencer can continue to get his shot off in three or five last night hence at he might be able to do that and if Cam Spencer can go out there and be a three-point specialist for this team this year and Beyond well then I you know the the Canard thing I I can begin to feel a little bit more comfortable about right I can feel the Grizzlies haven’t had a lot of Shooters that’s been bang standing outside of this conversation for a little bit I think you can throw Mike connley outside of this conversation for a little bit that’s like two they they the Grizzlies have not been known for shooting specialist and I think cam Spencer can be that and really unlock some fun things for this Grizzlies offensively they have taken a lot of Threes without being known for Shooters tons of them which we it was right back on that business last night um 7 of 36 from three as a team that’s the most I’ve ever heard something sweet about the familiarity just knowing knowing what you’re getting hey shout out Jason March it was fun watching Jason March coach that summer friend of the show just all around good dude seeing him Coach the grizzly summer league team last night uh seeing him get elevated after doing such a good job with the Memphis hustle these last couple of Seasons love that for him I know a lot of coaching news Kessler the Jazz do not want to win games next season because the Jazz very much want to plant their flag in the Cooper flag sweep sakes as does seemingly every bad to slightly bad team in the NBA next year because the hype is so over the top for Cooper flag 17 years old Duke commit if you have somehow missed who Cooper flag is uh widely assumed to be the number one pick in next year’s draft but he is on team USA’s select team he is the first college player who was invited to participate in Team USA training camp since Marcus Smart back in 2013 it was Marcus Smart and Doug McDermot who were the last two college players who were able to be a part of this um process for Team USA as they gear up for the Olympics but this kid is 17 years old and he’s playing against 12 probable Hall of Famers that’s what Steve Kerr said when it comes to this group that they are dubbing the greatest group the greatest team of American basketball players since the Dream Team the group that theyve put together to go compete in Paris for the Olympics this year and Cooper flag was the story of yesterday and he’s hitting threes over Anthony Davis and he’s hitting nice little turnaround jumpers over Drew holiday and he is 17 years old he’s 17 years old on the select team and the Highlight CJ we can’t show them oh we can’t up do you want to wait new song just dropped CJ worked really hard on this was most outstanding player in the 1976 final four Benson the number one overall pick by the Milwaukee Bucks playing 11 seasons in the NBA for Milwaukee the Pistons the Jazz and the Cavs that’s that’s my uncle last the last wife baby on the last white American basketball player taken number one overall in the NBA had my last name some dud named vinon in the 70s some family member long and forgotten his professional career we we okay so Benson never quite lived up to the potential of a number one NBA draft pick twice in his career he was traded for a player that helped his former team get over the hump and contend for an NBA title in 1980 the Bucs traded him to the Pistons for Bob laner who would help the buck to consecutive Eastern Conference Finals appearances and in 1986 the Pistons traded him to the Jazz for Adrien dley who would help the Pistons to the Eastern Conference Finals so tough for Kent Benson we’ve drafted since him we’ve drafted two Canadians and a Chinese person number one overall since then that’s wild two black Canadians at that I didn’t know we made that many black people and French in in Canada and French didn’t incredible that is what a fun stat to find out so yeah so Cooper flag is coming in to do that and listen if you’re drafting Cooper flag I can see a lot of those bensing comparisons coming through think you need to be careful because you know but it was a nice pleasant 96 here so I can take a nice dry 96 heat in Salt Lake City you were up late we got an overtime game for the Grizzlies first game of this Summer League season hot Grizz summer has officially arrived Zach Edy has officially arrived and as somebody who was on the Zach Edy train earlier than any I will continue to let you take your Victory laps what did you like most from Ed’s performance last night Hey listen listen Not only was I on the Zach Ed train from the beginning I was the conductor I was I was I was I was I was there driving the train man again like I said from day one you cannot teach s feet4 with a heart and a willingness to compete and when you saw Zack Edy dive on the floor for a loose ball that’s all I needed to see you don’t have to do anything else in summer league block a shot lead to a Scotti pipp and dunk then dive on the floor for a loose ball then Step Into The Fray for your teammate and get a technical foul because you want you know what I mean you want to protect you know Jake laravia in that situation what more do you want to see from Zach Ed other than staying healthy and and continuing to produce 14 points 15 rebounds four block shots in 36 minutes or 34 minutes of action last night the put back tip that that uh that sent it to overtime he missed the dunk that could have uh put him up put the Grizzlies up in regulation uh to maybe seal that game but at the end of the day man he stayed out there and he fought and he competed and he looked like every bit of the Zack Ed that I kind of expected coming into the league now it’s just summer league it’s game one so you can’t I remember and I was talking to a scout SE uh I sat next to last night um who was a former summer league coach and assistant with one of the teams in the Eastern Conference and I said man I remember summer league uh when you were coaching uh in 2008 and we saw Derek Rose as a rookie uh put have eight nine turnovers in his rookie uh summer league debut and we saw Michael Beasley score 30 points so that didn’t work out you know for either one of those guys that wasn’t uh that didn’t set the table for either one of them but hey look impressive start for Zack Ed and you just kind of build on it from there it’s one of those things where it’s summer league yes but because it’s summer league there’s not a whole lot of other things going on so there’s a lot of eyeballs on it right and Zach Edy is one of the most anticipated players to watch during this summer period it felt like all of the NBA Community was seated for Grizzlies jazz last night because we’re all sickos and we want to see every bit of action that we can of basketball throughout the summer but you have two two ways things can go like either Zack Ed is a disappointment last night or he does precisely what you would hoped you would see for him in the Grizzly’s ultimate vision of of what he can be perhaps in the starting center rle for this team this year and that’s what you got so that’s always something to celebrate like you can always you know quell it with yes it’s game one of summer league but the alternative is not nearly as positive as what you were able to see from e last night and here’s the thing too the thing that I’ve also said about Zach is this his floor is so solid where it’s I don’t want to say I mean because anything can happen to any player in this league whether you’re drafted number one overall or you’re undrafted we’ve seen success stories and failures on either end but Zach Edy just doesn’t have you know a a a low floor if he’s healthy and he rolls out there because of his size and because of his mindset he’s going to at the very least be able to set massive screens which is why Scotti Pippen Jr was able to get downhill and score at the rate that he was able to score he’s going to be able to deter shots at The Rim which is how he got four block shots and altered every other shot as well too that he was in the paint he’s going to at the very least be able to gobble up rebounds which 15 of them came his way right he didn’t just knock guys down he just simply used his size and his reach he knows where to be he knows what he’s doing and that’s what will allow him to be successful at even the very B minimum level so that’s the thing it doesn’t he doesn’t have to go out there and try to impress he just has to go out there and be smart be big and be committed and you know I mean and show the effort and he’s going to be fine he did this against Walker Kessler who is a rotation sometimes starter for the Utah Jazz that was their Frontline guy last year right he did it I mean he made filipowski look like he wasn’t even there half the time and then even when Kenny Lofton Jr got in the game for the moments that they were matched up you know Kenny was kind of like puzzled terms of what to do with his size so you know like I said it was a good debut um I know he tweaked his ankle a little bit I know we’ll get into that a second but he tweaked his ankle he did come back and finish that game out you know we’ll see what that means for him in terms of the next couple of days uh in terms of his availability but you know all all is well in terms of the debut that Zack e made do you have any idea of what that looks like tonight Mike as the Grizzlies play the Sixers we know in years pass the starters will play one night they’ll sit the next minutes are funky because you’re playing a ton of basketball in a short period of time time but do you have any insight on what the Grizzlies will look for tonight you know I sat down with uh well I didn’t sit down I I I caught up with Jason March the summer league head coach after the game and he said it’ll be a different group a different look uh with these guys off of that overtime uh game last night um you know Zach played 34 minutes you know uh Scotty Pitman played all the way through it seemed like you know these guys played a lot they’re not going to play that that much if at all uh going into game two tonight you’re going to see a little bit more of a bench look uh I anticipate tonight um you know I would be surprised if if Zach is back out there uh again tonight but I think that was always part of the plan usually you go heavy with your starters in your first group in the summer league game one and because of the backto back to back three games and three nice nature you want to back off a little bit and maybe see who’s available for game three uh on Wednesday when they face the uh the getaway game against Oklahoma City tonight is Philadelphia uh the 76ers against the Grizzlies tomorrow they cap the Salt Lake City summer league against Oklahoma City so we’ll see the the the starters and the regulars probably reset for game three and you let the bench carry you through game two for the most part speaking of the starters from last night outside of Zack Ed’s performance which is easy to stand out because he’s 74 who stood out for you the most for the Grizzlies who were you most impressed with last night you know and he did it in small doses but cam Spencer looks like he knows exactly what he’s doing on the floor like he’s he the way he plays how hard he plays being in the right spots being able to handle uh run a pick and roll game he hit his first three-pointer that he shot when he walked out there um he he impressed me now GG Jackson and Jaylen Wells they didn’t impress because they shot the ball horribly but the fact that they kept shooting and kept having their head in there trying to play and making defensive plays that impressed me as well too they didn’t let you know in GG’s case a 0 for1 performance from three-point range that did not deter him he was willing to step up and take the game-winning shot in regulation uh without regardless of how he was shooting up until that point Jaylen Wells kind of didn’t find his rhythm offensively but he was in there competitively on the defensive end which also factored in the grizzly scoring 28 points off turnovers now they gave up 21 points on you know they G they gave up 21 turnovers of themselves 20 but they were able to uh dominate that game in the first half because of how they played on the defensive end of the ball and then it kind of got away from him uh the game caught back up to him in the third quarter but yeah those guys impressed me because of their competitiveness um and and cam Spencer impressed me so much because of the way he’s his fight and his grit when he’s out there playing any concern about GG you brought up the kind of just as a fly by um but people fans on Twitter so take that with with the biggest of grains of salt dump the whole Beach of sand on your head with this St any concern about GG over 10 uh no I mean because again it’s it’s the fact that if he went 0 for three and stop shooting then I would have a problem because he’s supposed to be a score you know what I mean the fact that he’s over for 10 shows that okay look I’m still believing in my shot I’m believing in myself and you know when you talk about GG Jackson you know one thing is going to be there and that’s that confidence for that kid so he’ll be able to get right you know what I mean I think he’ll come back and bounce back and like you said I’m gonna take that grain of salt man and then just throw it over my shoulder right because again these fans they’re going to over uh overhype what what goes well and they’re going to over criticize what goes wrong but that shows you that they’re galvanized by this team and they’re galvanized by the storylines around these guys and you have to be happy with what you saw in that first showing from the Grizzlies for the most part again sloppy turnovers that hurt him particularly in the fourth quarter and overtime uh they can clean that up but the fact that they went out there and defended and competed against a Utah team that had two of their regular key rotation guys in you know that were on there and Walker Kesler you know those guys were out on the floor and they were playing win they were playing in front of almost 10,000 fans in their home arena and uh they wanted that game badly the Grizzlies had it all the way up until the end I have a question about Jake laravia for you Mike being a third-year player being back at Summer League I thought he looked really comfortable last night uh we saw him on the latter half of the grizzly season last year finally you know getting his health under him showing a little bit more I what should out to me most last season was his ability to create contact and get to the free throw line but also what he’s able to do defensively what have you seen from Jake and just the attitude and experience level of having the decision to come back to Summer League this year play for this team and continue to try to earn a spot moving forward well you want you want to see Jake dominate you want to see him dominate in this game you want to see him take over in summer league and be the go-to guy and he was featured you know what I mean this team was about featur yesterday’s game was about featuring Jake laia and he came out and shot pretty well he finished with 18 points um and he was one of the leading scorers he had you know t double figures in scoring right away he also had some foul problems though because he picked up four fouls in that first quarter in summer league you can get you know a gazillion fouls you won’t foul out from that sad point but the fact is he wanted he needed to come out here and show that I’m a senior level player out here I probably shouldn’t be playing summer league but I am because I still have something to prove I didn’t think he went out of his way to prove it last night um I would like to see him bounce back particularly in these next two three games uh whatever’s left here in Salt Lake City and then especially in Las Vegas I need him to say I I need him to put two or three two games together where you say all right Jake that’s enough sit down you don’t have to play the rest of the summer league I think he needs to get to that point and this is what this summer league is about for him working on his shooting as you said working on his ability to get to the free throw line uh also defending but just looking like he’s a step above guys that are trying to make this league he’s a former first round pick that the Grizzlies traded up to get and to secure and um it’s it’s pretty much an All or Nothing uh type opportunity for him these next couple of weeks here in in summer league you mentioned that you got to talk to Jason March after the game last night and we were talking in the previous segment about how cool it is to see him elevated into this role and his new um status as an assistant coach with this team we saw so much assistant coach news for the Grizzlies in the last couple of days and I’ve been out of office but the biggest addition to me is this Thomas Salo leaving Paris basketball and assumed to be the lead assistant for Taylor Jenkins and the staff this season and I’m just curious what the conversation has been around him like what’s the what’s the buzz from maybe others outside of the organization looking at what the Grizzlies did in in their assistant coach shakeups well I mean you you look at the way these staffs are being built not just with the Grizzlies but all the new coaching hires whether it’s JJ reick in Los Angeles uh Charlotte’s coaching staff you know um Detroit staff you’re bringing in Specialists it’s almost like these teams are building their coaching staff similar to what the NFL uh and college high level college football we’re doing you’re bringing in coordinators who specialize in offense and not just offense but specific types of offense and that’s what I believe it’s Thomas it could be Tomas I’m not even gonna try to pronounce his last name yet I I need I need to have a conversation with him I’ll probably try to catch up with him he’s here in Salt Lake City uh he’s in more he and both Joe Joe boand are both sort of in observing roles um in terms of that staff but they were all seated together along that Baseline uh to watch last night’s game when you talk about all the the the new assistants uh for the most part most of them are here but um you know boan and uh Anthony Carter um you know and the guys that the three guys that came in the three four new guys that came in were all there uh from that standpoint so I’m looking forward to seeing and what with the buzz is around what the Grizzlies are doing now they’re saying you’re hearing a lot I sat along the road with mostly Scouts and and and from that standpoint and you’re hearing these guys say that the Grizz are going to pinpoint they need Specialists because they have certain types of players that they have to really create opportunities for you have to have a unique coaching mind to be able to get the most out of a Zach Edy at this level in the NBA so you’re G to have to have coaching staffs that really can be Innovative and I think that’s what the Grizzlies are doing from that standpoint you talk about Jason March I’m I’m happy for him I the first thing I said to him was like man look you’re not new to this you’re True to this you’ve been in this role before as a summer league head coach you won a summer league championship you were assistant on a NBA bench before under Dave joerger and now you’re back into that role now so hey you’re ready for this man and he was like hell yeah yeah absolutely but under this coaching staff and under this philosophy he still had to stretch himself too and he’s done that by being familiar with all these guys that have come through the Memphis hustle and it couldn’t have been a better ideal fit for him to be the coach right now of this team because he’s familiar with all of these guys he scouted them he’s coached them he knows them and he’s specifically think you should read it and all of the fans of the show it is nerdy it is one of the most beautifully written books and when you were talking about Cooper flag and being the Great White Hope and just the tropes that we do with basketball and with sports and with the mythological figuring that we do of people and and this is not about a Great White Flag or a Great White Hope or any of that this is about a man who grew up in Columbus Ohio AJ to the time that LeBron James grew up in Ohio he’s written multiple books his name is hanif AB dur and his most recent one is there’s always this year on basketball and Ascension and shout out to my friend brand who has been trying to get me to read this book for months and I finally picked it up it’s some of the most beautiful writing about life and basketball and family and friends and I just think everybody would enjoy it I think there’s a lot of stuff that situates nicely with Memphis as a city and just cities where basketball is everything for many people for Community for opportunity and it’s all written really nicely so if anyone would like to read there’s always this year on basketball and Ascension you can be a nerd with me how long is it it’s like 300 pages I think you can do it I think you can do it all right that’s 10 pages a day that’ll take me a month to read it I read half of it on the plane yesterday okay well who’s a reader and who not well who’s sitting on a plane with nothing else to do also yeah I finally restarted uh since we’re doing things we’re reading I finally restarted um the last Ronin the Ninja Turtle Comics oh and so I got the so I have the first three comics and I was waiting on the rest of all of them to come out so I could buy all the rest of them because I hated reading them one at a time uh just wanted to read it all and be done and I never went back and bought the comics but I was in tar and they had the whole Anthology there for for me and so it was buy one get one 50% off so I bought that in uh another uh comic series so yeah making my way through that now so that’s what I’m reading if you are curious to know the last Ronin centers around the Ninja Turtles in their fight uh against the the shredder Clan the foot um I forget their their family name but it’s the Osaka or osaku versus whomever um and there’s only one Turtle left because all of the other turtles have been killed by uh ‘s daughter SLG grandchild as well so yeah yeah yeah get you some of that that’s some good stuff also and it’s got pictures enough of books why onto television like normal people seeking entertainment that’s my medium that’s my favorite medium we did watch House of the Dragon I have a question for you if you would be mad you don’t watch House of the Dragon correct okay so you wouldn’t understand the specific situation and I’m I’m saying if you have not watched the most recent episode of House of the Dragon there may be spoil here why Kyra said it’s so good I do think it was one of my favorite episodes of House of the Dragon but I wanted to put it from the standpoint of the show was spoiled for me okay and I want to ask if you would have been upset in this situation not upset just like peeved I’m watching the show no matter what me too it so I don’t care like I’m gonna watch even if I know if I know everything that happens I’m still gonna watch because there there will be things and a show that I’m watching that yes there’s the main thing that everybody’s interested in but there’s also a bunch of side stuff happening as well yes and so for me ex once you tell me the the main thing that pops off right house of the Dragons I don’t know what the spoiler is a dragon pops out right once you tell me that it’s like okay cool I know the dragon’s going to pop out here that means I can look all over the place now during this episode to see how they are hinting at the arrival of this thing or how the relationships are changing in show for before this major moment ends up happening no I’ll I’ll watch it I agree which is why I’m not one of those people who just stays off social media either because you can see things that don’t make sense because you haven’t watched the entire episode so you don’t understand the context you don’t understand all the details of it but I will say I had a group text who I think spoiled a show in record time it was like 5 minutes after the show ended on Sunday night and we weren’t able to watch on Sunday because we were still with my mom in Seattle and she does not watch The House of the Dragons but they group text was like who has watched House of the dragon and then everyone was like I can’t believe I’m crying over CGI dragons so then I know there’s going to be a dragon Fatality and I was like whoa whoa whoa this is not a safe space I have not watched the show yet I we hadn’t talked uh since the the long break okay the wife and you came up in conversation with the wife we had a friend come over we were talking about some things you came up specifically in conversation and the point that the wife was making was sometimes she has to turn you off because you do spoil things so I think I think it’s turned about being fair so I’m getting Karma I think that it’s the universe’s way of punishing you for spoiling things for the good listeners out there where’s the camera the good listeners out there okay but here’s my point on that is we talk about TV Tuesday from a standpoint and we’re talking about the show that just happened so I I try to give a if we’re talking about the show in its entirety hey we’re going to say spoiler here’s your last chance dragons die right or in this case I want to talk about one of my favorite characters on the show dying because that’s my biggest takeaway from the episode and maybe I did shed a couple tears and we don’t talk enough about Dragon on Dragon crime not talk about it that’s not how you do TV talk yes it is it is as a reviewer yeah that is exactly how you talk revie no reviewers who do when I listen to a podcast about a show I’m the details of a show we’re getting different reviews then because when I do TV reviews when I do movie reviews I’m reading it in print and they do a really good job in print of giving you the emotions without telling you why the thing is happening almost every review I read includes details that happen within the show no when I’m listening to movie podcast listen to one really good one JD Duran uh in session films when I would listen to those wouldn’t spoil anything H they do an hour and a half on it wouldn’t spoil anything interesting yeah well I’m spoiling this because one of my favorite characters died and I was really upset about it and I kept thinking she could have just gotten away the queen Who Never Was why did she not just fly away she had many opportunity she went back into danger I get it she was trying to be a martyr the war has really begun now she wanted to die I think she wanted to die she wanted to die to I don’t think she was afraid of dying to Galvanize people I think it was the point of like this war is real and there are now real C there were already real casualties because plebians died but like when someone of that stature dies along with her dragon that got dragoned by another dragon in the neck she wanted to Arch Duke Ferdinand this thing I think so okay I think it felt it felt even though Arch Duke didn’t want to die well and the arch Duke situation they’ve already had main characters or not big characters die like a a young boy died via Dragon last season at the end of the season which was the impetus of on accident moving in yeah this was not on accident but same dragon dragon on Dragon crime Dragon on Dragon crime we don’t talk about it enough somebody who is going to step up the election cycle and help with the dragon on Dragon crime I do not know but that dragon is the biggest of the dragons and I want nothing to do with that dragon vagar vagar is the scariest dragon of the bunch and vagar just completely nomed on the other dragon’s neck like decapitated dragon by oh just bit straight through the neck yeah oh wow in the on the ground in the oh what a way to go yeah that’s incredible it was crazy I could watch dragons fight all day I was captivated we’ve got three movies of that How to Train Your Dragon one two and three one How to Train Your Dragon one of the best movies of all time one of the best animated trilogies no movies one of the best animated trilogies all time How to Train Your Dragon is like a perfect movie yeah we also might have had a King die last night we don’t know I probably not I don’t think so either that that big dragon’s gonna die here soon also yeah I know and I can’t wait for it what is with eye patches being so menacing we Cuz We Gather so much of our information from the the eyes the eyes and so if you’ve covered one up we can’t gather the same amount of information so anything that covers anything on your face looks uh infinitely more menacing or cool depending on what that thing is so if you’re a ninja and you’re wearing the little mask so we don’t see your mouth makes you look kind of kind of cool Batman has that right he’s got the things over his eyes that make him look like mysterious people wear sunglasses cuz they make him look cooler it’s all about covering the right thing on your face that’s that’s what it is this guy he has a very punchable face even with not a I’m sorry punchable no that was incorrect he has a very menacing face because of the eye patch and he has long blonde hair is there a scar also that is visible under the patch trying to think I mean you know there’s no eye there you’ve seen you’ve seen the eye without the patch too so you know What Lies Beneath which gives an extra like it’s like a glassy but it’s not a glass eye I don’t think it’s a glass eye but it just looks it’s not just a hole so there has to be something there it’s bluish it’s crystall is you know our Pirates us to wear eye patches I don’t know why it’s this Jessica it’s not a joke I thought it was a joke setting you up not going to tell you about when I Willie they used to wear the eye patch because they would have to the captain would at times have to go into the bowels of the ship and so it’s dark down there didn’t have light so they needed one eye to always be adjusted for the dark so when they went down there they take the eye patch off they closed the other eye that’s been out in the light and they’d be able to see a little bit better down there fascinating at least that’s what social media told me that could all be wrong I love taking it as truth social media also told me that Cal football this season will be traveling the circumference of the earth for their Road game schedule in Miles like it’s only like 500 Miles off the total circumference of the earth I don’t know if it’s true but I’m going to use that all year got why did Cal join the ACC this is use it but those are the random facts that have stuck in my head well I will say for the future of TV Tuesday theater Thursday everything I will make sure to slap a giant spoiler alert anytime something might be spoiled because I don’t want to spoil things for people okay it hurts not hurts just annoying it twinges it’s annoying it’s a little Annoying yeah I don’t care also in a group text also that’s a there’s a difference between text and social media text social media and a show right those are three different sorts of once you you send the message hey who’s seen it then you wait I have I have I haven’t I’m not going to watch it or I haven’t I got to watch it tomorrow once you hear from everybody then you commit right with the and I love my friends and I get it I was really sad about the how many’s in the the thread or the text seven but I think only three watch that’s entire L too large a thread also I have so many this is one of my favorites though no most mine my average is probably four okay that’s pushing it okay four is per four is Sol including you four including me yeah gotcha four five range okay there’s a lot like one one of my friends asked me to be a bridesmaid yesterday so yes we’ll be in another wedding coming next year um I said yes duh but she texted the group chat she’s like oh yay all three of you have accepted I’m like was there any concern that any if you’re in a group text and you send out the bridesmaid invitations is there any actual concern that the person will say no nobody’s ever asked me to be a bride so I don’t know I can’t answer that nobody you’re the only person I know who gets asked to be those things nobody nobody I know has ever been asked I got asked once I got ass once jaylen’s talking about stuff jayen has three weddings in the next three months I had a wedding for a year this year all of them are you the a groomsman in all of them okay so he okay so he gets it he gets it but you and Jaylen are cut from similar cloths y’all are the same person friendly yes charismatic Charming outgoing people pleasing do gooders yeah stop it except when you spoil shows yeah AB what are you watching you’re caught up on the boys I have watched all but the last episode I am caught up on the boys and we were talking about it some in the chat um almost out on the boys almost almost like ah I could I can I I get the the point I think I’m done okay but they found a way to keep me like I I got to see one more episode I got I got to see what how how this is going to to end uh and the the the themes of the boys I think they do a good job of having the big overarching them which is whatever that is um while keeping each season and almost every episode having other smaller themes I it it’s taking me four seasons and how many episodes are there now five four or five um episodes into the fourth season so three full seasons and four or five episodes into the fourth season to come to the conclusion that this is really really a thing of a lesser of two evils nobody is good in this damn show this show is a bunch of bad people doing a bunch of bad things and you just looking around like okay I identify with this bad person the most yeah if for no other reason than hey this bad person is not that bad person they they are both undesirable I don’t like anything going on right now but I can deal with this one I can’t deal with that one I think that that theme realizing that is for me is the thing really hit home the most about the political climate that we in because the boys is not only a superhero sort of satire thing but it’s also a satire on the state of public affairs as we know it right now and I think that is the thing I think if you asked not I think we’ we’ve got the polls we know if you pulled everybody and made everybody answer and vote on the two options that we have for not just president but Senate races uh City Representatives what have you hey everybody that we have or something else entirely everybody of most people would vote for something else entirely this cannot be the way things are done but to see it play out in superhero form with the the state of democracy uh on the line on TV it’s it’s a pretty good watch it’s pretty good also I love seeing homelander be controlled he trades in one boss for another boss for another boss for a new boss and doesn’t even realize his need to be told what to do and it doesn’t matter never come back and bite him in the ass because he’s the biggest baddest dude on the Block so I I I’ve enjoyed this season of the boys like I’ve enjoyed the previous three seasons as well and I enjoy knowing that it ends after next season like I I like that they have identified an end date for it which is why I’ll stick with it till the end and I do think the political commentary is at sometimes almost a little too on the nose it is certainly not an escapism show right now it feels as if there is a mirror being held up to our very own Society minus the the last episode I watched was the one with the killer sheep who had been but even even injected as ridiculous as that is you have to stop and think and they they do such a good job of weaving in real conspiracy theories right yes that that moment is of a a disease run a muck on a farm like you go you hit on the get on the right board and that’s how Co got here right that’s that’s what happened in Wuhan right that’s what happened over there and like it’s it’s and experimenting with science and pushing scientific boundaries and controlling I mean I thought everything that they did with um hu’s Dad was a very interesting again one of those story line one of those it’s just for an episode just for just for an episode they do they spend two and a half three episodes setting it up and then boom for just an episode here’s here’s why we spent so much time on this right and here’s again an exam like you’re constantly giving examples of oh this might be a bad thing to do and yet people continue to do it over and over and over again and the consequences are dire to the point of somebody being able to like reach in and rip someone’s heart out spoiler Jessica there’s no reason to say that part that’s not really a spoiler but there there’s no reason to say that part I think it is for selfish reasons everybody is selfish in this show nobody is doing the alra truistic thing um which is hey I’mma do this good for the betterment of everybody else around I yeah like that’s that’s everybody every decision that is made by everybody on the show is okay I think this is good but I think this is good because it’s best for me it is that it’s very clear in homelander right it’s very clear in homelander it’s very clear in the people who want to get close to homelander and the people who follow homelander and do what homelander says to do is not as clear in everybody else but you watch it and routinely I’m left saying why would you do that you have to know this isn’t good you’re doing this because it makes you feel better and you you shouldn’t do this and routinely those characters do that but again for me as long as those characters aren’t homelander I couldn’t care less we got we got to stop that d all right like the epitome of evil but there’s Evil Within chasing chasing power yes period brings evil decisions bad decisions dangerous decisions costly decisions and we see it constantly I’m very excited to watch the last episode of The Voice from last week that I’ll be watching that tonight so we were talking about in the chat um somebody mentioned a a pretty weird uh cuz they they not only is there gratuitous violence but there is gratuitous and in the weirdest ways possible uh sex it gets brought up also there’s uh for me pretty hilarious it was so funny that I didn’t think about it being sexual assault it’s so absurd yes until like got to the end of it and I’m like oh wait a second that that might have been sexual assault right there I probably shouldn’t have laughed the way that I laughed at it but that’s what that show does yes that’s that’s the thing it does the the best and I hate I usually hate violence and G not hate like I’ll watch it through the context of shows all the time so I don’t I know there are some people who avoid any and all violence in TV and movies because it does bad things to them mentally and that’s fine I usually don’t like I don’t seek it out but this level of Gore for that same reason it’s so absurd that it doesn’t bother I find myself laughing at heads being blown off not in a like sadistic way but in a oh my God I can’t believe the show continues to and the way that it will surprise you I me I was walking through a restaurant uh in Seattle and they had a giant octopus sculpture and I was like oh it’s the Deep’s girlfriend like but just those little things that stick out to you and um make an impact or why I think the boys is still a show that I would still continue to recommend to people five seasons of this more than enough find a way to wrap this up because don’t go too far like I said I’m about to be out of it they’ve gotten me held for this season I’ll probably watch next season if it was seven eight nine Seasons with no end in sight I’d probably stop after this it be hard I’d probably stop after this I have only watched the first episode of the most recent season of the beay but I’ve seen so many people say that the bear is suffering a Trope that happens to many shows which is when you get to the third season and you’re like oh this isn’t as good as I wanted it to be I’m still excited to to watch it for myself and present my own opinions on it but I haven’t watched it yet so I can’t talk about it I have been watching the America sweetheart Dallas Cowboy cheerleader documentary I’m obsessed with it I had PTSD from 2006 when I used to watch it on VH1 when it was like the search for the next Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders the same women are in charge they are still damaging young women to this day which is wild and the fact that cheerleaders do not make a lot of money that they have to have second jobs you are a you are one of the biggest faces of cheerlead in sports period being a cheerleader for the Dallas Cowboys and you still have to have a second job that show the show enrages me as I watch it but I can’t stop and I won’t stop so I will continue through that and then I watched the first episode of king of Collectibles okay Diddy can’t stop won’t stop go ahead um first season of what now king of Collectibles oh that’s to join on Netflix yes I got weird to watch the first episode of season 1 because Drake is in it and like right now just seeing Drake pop up in anything is like a jump scare you’re like why it’s Drake because he’s just been like eviscerated in the Public Image and now it’s just Drake back to wanting to collect super expensive sports cards yeah okay they tried to sell Jackie Robinson Jersey for $10 million came up a little short ah tough that’s unfortunate and I still am trying to make my Beanie Baby collection bring me a fortune someday so any who we will have another Grizzly Summer League game tonight we’ll see who plays but they will be there in Salt Lake City taking on the Philadelphia 76ers pregame show on grind City media begins at 5:30 tip off is at 6:00 if you didn’t do it yesterday it’s never too late download the Grand City media app you’ll be able to watch all of the Summer League games right there with our grand city media pregame shows and halftime shows it was so nice yesterday being able to turn on a Grizzly focused halftime show as opposed to having to watch a Utah Jazz focused halftime show because you used the Jazz broadcasters for that Wait, I can listen to Zach Edey and House of the Dragon talk in the same place? Heck yeah.
Yall say yall have no problem if he’s shooting shots he gonna hit in a regular season game let’s see if that energy is the same if he’s 0-9 in a meaningful game for playoff seeding and he’s still chucking up 3s and praying it falls rather than seeing it’s not his night and get to the rim and make better decisions I think that’s the improvement fans wanna see we don’t care about the Wins & Losses in SL but wanna see his overall feel of the game get better
It was the perfect opportunity to try Edey as a late option for a bucket with the game on the line.
