Exclusive interview: Kevin Durant clears up his reported frustration in Phoenix Suns offense

I wanted to start with ant um when we talked about PG County you talked about the responsibility that you take on just with your role in basketball ant’s one of those kids who grew up watching you and now he’s here just what that means you to see it come to life in this kind of way yeah that’s still still crazy when you hear stuff like that I still feel like I got the key like energy in me to go play the game I’m still learning and trying to uh emulate other players too so when you get you get players who look up to you or looked at you watch the film you know it’s pretty cool um tell me I’m doing something right want to do some cleanup work on the offseason uh Bud comes in just your initial impressions of getting to know him over the years and the style of play you expect yeah I’m excited about Bud um he’s a experienced coach been around for the last 20 years coaching um so youve seen so many different types of players different locker room so I’m interested to get to work with him I’ve been chopping it up with him all summer and uh you know so been just trying to get to know one another so we can help each other out once the season starts we couldn’t even get out of the gym after game four before Port started coming down there was the one from the athletic that was talking about your role offensively it focused on you in the corner that’s been like a lot of the talk around you for whatever reason it just want to clarify you’re fine being in the corner as long as the offense is in in a good state right like you’re you you just want the ball to move correctly yeah yeah I mean if we struggling on offense and you know the ball’s not moving and and your best players aren’t being put in a position to you know or in space to do show their showcase their skills I mean that’s with anybody I like when book was in the corner a lot or Brad was sitting around a lot or we just stood around I think we could make more opt we have more movement in our offense and and I was just a to say I was frustrated about that I mean that’s just a basketball thing that we always like it’s like I’m not like we we trying to figure it out you know what I mean so like a style of play is not something that’s like off at the team about it’s just like yo we need to figure it out to get better so um I think I think Bud’s been watching film of what we what we do like what we did last year and try to incorporate some some of those things that work for us and try to F tune some of the things that didn’t to that to that point in your experience what from year one of a situation has worked much better in year two because you guys basically bringing back the same group I know it’s a new coaching staff but what gets better in that have you noticed to jump in those because like Minnesota for example is a team that just had that jump Dallas kind of the same thing yeah yeah I mean I know more once we all get out on the floor um but we did win 49 games last year it was a this this you know it was a it’s combobulated season guys in and out we didn’t have quite a rhythm on the offensive side of the ball defensively we still trying to figure stuff out we still was able to win 49 Games first year together you know you know so we we just want to build off of that I love I love what we have I feel confident in our group and I feel like a lot of people underestimating us cuz what we did last year so you know as us to come out there and play with that chip on our shoulder it’s kind of the first time that I come into a season with people like yo the team’s you know what I’m saying your team your team your team under uh under achieve so you know it’ be good to kind of play with that little chip on our shoulder as well but at the end of the day it’s about going out there playing together and having some fun I think we’ll do that
