summer here they are at arback working out the S Celtics getting ready to take the court next week There’s no days off still getting my fix no days off at the Garden report in here at clns media and we’re back and we’re hanging out with you guys John zanis Bobby Manning Jimmy Tuscano uh and we’ve got a lot still you know what’s amazing I mean normally by this point in the offseason you’re just like and like how much is there to talk about with a team that literally brought back its entire roster you know it but there’s plenty to talk about uh with the Celtics and uh and we’ll get into it here uh Jimmy Tuscano has not weighed in on the Celtics ownership situation neither the breaking news of the sale nor the uh recent reporting done by uh the great uh and inimitable Dan shaunessy who stuck his beak in there and said yeah I’ll report some I’ll figure some stuff out because nobody really understands why any of this is happening we’ll talk about the Celtic summer league roster and what we expect out of those guys uh coming up and you know what we’re looking for Bobby will be headed to Vegas of course uh and check that all out we’ll talk about Jason Tatum who’s still trying to prove to the world that he’s a to that he’s he’s that he’s awesome um still doubters people still asking him so more doubters now I think the funniest thing about Tatum is people keep asking him if people will keep asking him if he’s if he’s great and he has no choice the poor guys retirement question yeah he’s got to answer it over and over again I feel bad for him uh as always Garden report uh you know as we talked about uh news of the Celtics sale which Jimmy Tuscano has yet to weigh in on um and uh they’re selling it uh planning to make the team available for sale that was the uh original uh deal here that uh it’s up for sale and since then couple interesting pieces of uh reporting one of them I mean really one piece of interesting reporting coming from Dan Shawnessy not his team little twist one guy one guy one guy decided hey let me let me figure it out because nobody gets it and I think the reason nobody understands why and I think it’s not one of those stories with fans that’s like a big deal necessarily um you know either hug deal John no I mean meaning it isn’t it isn’t mean this ownership group was going to run into the same Financial uncertainty that the next ownership group will who whose hands it goes into is fine but there’s no in the new NBA world world in the new sports ownership world the next guy is going to be a ridiculous billionaire who doesn’t want this team to make money and wants it as some sort of vanity a little extra toy a sports car whatever it is and and then he can tell the world that he owns it and then maybe it doubles in value again over time but that’s who it’s going to as you would imagine because that’s just the game now who’s got five billion six billion just laying around bored billionaires who you know either gonna buy a basketball team or try to freaking you know fly a rocket to the moon like that’s what you do if you’ve got a [ __ ] ton of money you know you maybe try to Pedal like an arrow bicycle around the world you do some dumb [ __ ] some people buy basketball teams so that’s what’s gonna happen but it still is interesting because the recent reporting um Here on Whose team was this uh and it turns out it wasn’t Wicks no not by a long shot little twist a little twist nope this guy’s been just pretending the whole time he’s done a pretty good job of it too he just like walked in the arena one day and like everyone just assumed he was the owner and he just went with it yeah okay sure I own it um and that’s it so that’s what we got so uh Jimmy uh you know your thoughts here and we’ll get into some of the stuff um that shaunessy was able to unearth with his minimal uh digging but he still was able to get some stuff uh but just your thoughts on you know the shock of what’s interesting to me Jimmy and Bobby like the more you listen and you know uh you know Wick did an interview uh you know recently I think he’s definitely a little embarrassed by it um but he did an interview and kind of set the record straight on some stuff and talked about how it’s going to go down but like I don’t think I wonder whether he even knew it was up for sale like I really don’t the whole thing is really interesting I really don’t know he was selling his team kind of reminds me of like Billy Madison a little bit like this guy that’s just been like living off living off in the mansion and just screwing around but all joking aside it is it is a it is a bummer because I think we’ve all come to all agree that Wick was the best I’ll put owner in quotes now because I’m not quite sure but yeah he was the best owner in Boston he was the best owner in Boston yeah exactly in Boston he was more of like a shift supervisor right yeah exactly he he was an overseer of of the land if you will um assistant to the owner maybe is a good one yeah but um he cared about the team he obviously cared about putting a winning product and yet he needed dad to sign the line sign the dot line maybe but at the end of the day he won two championships you know with his owners under his majority ownership stewardship stewardship yeah we’ll call it stewardship and has the team in a good position to do it again cares about the team is a fan and like you said John the next guy who buys it unless it’s pegs which I think you know I guess there’s an outside chance that could happen if he gets maybe some people around him and he’s a guy that cares about the organization but that looks at this team as an investment am I there yeah you glitched out first SP second oh fears that it goes to a guy that doesn’t actually care about the team and looks at it as a way to make money and turn a profit and blah blah blah you know and and with the way that the this the you know the CBA is and all this stuff and all complications in the second apron and the tax money that goes to it on one hand yeah you want a guy with Deep Pockets so that you can afford it but on the other you want a guy that’s going to care about putting together a winning team and is willing to pay a guy like Hower for an example you know all the extra money that it’s going to take to pay him if it’s somebody that doesn’t care about that or doesn’t think that that’s a good investment because he’s not going to draw you know people in the same way or’s no marketing behind it then you might have a bit of an issue now I tried to keep Wick as the owner I don’t know if you guys saw I did venmo him I tried to get the ball rolling I ven I found his venmo I sent him a buck there it is there it actually is so I did my part I thought I could get to train rolling if everybody gives a dollar two dollars maybe we can get enough money in Wick’s Pockets where he can say hey Dad you know here’s what I can offer you and maybe maybe we can delay this a little bit longer but I don’t know if it took off the way it did I I think it ended up with like 3,000 likes but likes aren’t going to get the aren’t going to get the Celtics to keep with fol we need money we need money and everyone thought I was joking when I said we got to start a GoFundMe for Wick I’ve been saying this for years John on this show haven’t I like we got to start the G fundme because Wick is poor I kept saying it Wick is poor and you kept saying it too John he said he has no actual money everything everything all his worth is tied to this team we were even wrong about that it’s not even his worth tied to this team he’s gonna be Hawking tequila on the side of the road soon uh in a few years unfortunately for him but so that’s kind of un I mean look he’s part of the estate plan like the announcement from the team was that I knowon part of the estate planning Wick is part of the estate planning which is like I want to make sure each of my kids gets a slice of this yeah he’s gonna be fine so he is gonna be fine but yeah that was Jimmy Jimmy tried uh but the interesting report here is uh Wick owns less than 2% of this whole thing which again is not a big deal in the sense of like yeah they won two championships and everything was fine it just makes you rethink about uh all of it which is strange right because it’s like yeah did he make I don’t did he do any did he make any decisions because I’ll tell you ownership the owner makes the like you might be the front-facing public guy and the guy but like maybe he was given total control but do you like two years ago when they wouldn’t spend to go a nickel over whatever threshold it was because they were getting that $10 million Kickback at the end of the year and Wick’s like taking the heed for that was that Wick you know when they decided to spend this money huh was it Wick was it Irv like it’s hard to say who did it if somebody’s pulling the strings and again it doesn’t matter to fans because at the end it’s the same like who cares I don’t care if it was Irv or Wick I got two titles out of this deal it’s pretty freaking cool um right so there’s not like anyone to be mad at here it’s just a total as you said at the top Jimmy it’s a total twist it’s like twist ight Shyamalan twist like he’s not even the owner or it’s like scoobydoo you pull the mask off it’s it’s not Wick it’s Irving this whole time was amazing if we thought if we all had I mean Irving’s what 90 years old I think if anyone had a clue we would have been thinking that this day would be coming for a while now but it was completely blindsided everybody yeah and we knew wick wouldn’t be the owner forever especially with the changing finances of the league and even look at he did the CNBC interview and it’s like Wick cosway coowner and Soro tequila co-owner and that’s basically the list of the money that’s coming in for him so we always talked about it pretty much as long as we’ve done the show here how he doesn’t have the income outside of basketball uh to match some of the powerful billionaire owners like Balmer and the rest out there Golden State and so we never imagined the Celtics being in this position where they’ve extended themselves to the point of having a $475 to 500 million pay plus tax in just a year from now so it’s not a massive surprise that this happened the massive surprise is that there’s this other figure who basically put the money up for this whole thing and you obviously know where the money came from in that place with the cable company and everything else so it’s unbelievable how this turned out here and it leaves a million questions right who’s it gonna be we only know Peg leuk is in the process we’re all throwing these crazy names around but the one thing you knew whether it was Wick whether it was herb is that that group was invested in this team fans of this team we thought but again I was Wick Wick r invested on the front line but did Irv care about this team and I think yes in the sense of like I think well the results the result they did right by the fan base they did the things they needed to do and when it push came to shove they spent big coin uh to to get it done but they also knew when Irv said yeah I guess go sign all these guys we’ll deal with it later he knew later meant never so like yeah well that’s the other thing we don’t know is the timeline do we has anyone seen Irv do we know like if he’s yeah in 2008 he was front and center got it yeah I know that was a long time ago John like who’s really making the calls right now like we gotta see this guy I want see what are we working with here who’s running this team these signings I thought one of the other big interesting Revelations was that pegs hired a and that basically set in motion the basketball leadership that’s what I mean is like so this it raises a lot of questions if you talk about like okay let’s Bobby asked me in the first day when it broke rate rate Wick’s accomplishments and like I I’ve always said and you know me I think owners get way too much credit you’ve got you got one job and that’s hire a guy to do your to do the job and then it’s important that you hire the right person then you get the F out of their way and when they come to you and say I need money you just fill out the check and you hand it to them right so if you looked at the three wick accomplishments you would have thought well okay what are the three decisions he’s made an Brad and to spend uh this year but now you look back bags belong to a the uh Brad could have been Dad saying yeah you’re not we just extended him you’re not firing like make it work okay I’ll make him GM how about that you you know might have his hands tied rather than a stroke of Genius we don’t know and then the open the wallet was Irv so like what was the accomplishment I don’t actually know like I said is I think the family did right by it because again when it push came to shove they hired two ex out what turns out to be I hate oh there you go yeah outstanding two outstanding Executives um to outstanding Executives and uh and and and when when they needed to they said we’re going for it and they and they and they spent big so those things are great by by fans everything they did everything they had to do it’s just makes you wonder what happened you know behind the scenes there like who who who who was actually making those calls yeah your guess is as good as mine I don’t think that matters as much is just a passing interest in in what was going on previously because the most important thing is what’s going to happen here and I guess that intersects with you know the dynamic in that ownership group if it’s going to be the same group of people and I still think we’re not 100% sure I know Adam was reporting that that’s there’s going to be some carryover from this past group here even though the release Jimmy said the whole group was selling all the shares are up for sale here so how many people are going to be left over from this group how involved were the other guys in this group how involved is Peg Luca was he a bigger Force Voice controlling we we know from Sha’s reporting that Pags bought up an additional 8% on top of whatever he owned and I’ve always said this to you guys pegs Pags had much much deeper Pockets than Wick personally I did but it’s never been clear who owns what stake you know so I guess obviously the grck family owned the largest portion of uh of that uh you know of the team but Pags might be coming in who knows what he’s coming in at 10 20 on his own with that 8% does he only need to buy up 31% to get there we don’t know nobody knows behind the scenes what’s left there I also don’t understand how it works you know with does he just cash in on why they just let why why weren’t they willing to let TS just buy them out well here’s my thing here’s my developing opinion and you know I’ll throw this up there um you know it the the chain of things is very interesting in terms of uh how it went down is anything coming on the screen or not looks like like DNA RNA type we’ll try it again we’ve been glitching with these things is it up there nope not yeah it’s loading now though and now it’s gone what was it why don’t you like draw it was a Pags it was a pegs quote it’s gone um and it disappeared it it got booted off the stage yeah it worked earlier there it is okay so the the line of to riches I like that the line of the reporting is interesting as well right um because at first Wick immediate I mean Pags immediately puts out his own statement hey I was proud to be part of it and I will absolutely be joining the bidding process and then shaunessy reaches out and he you know tries to get comments from everybody and he does his reporting and less than 48 hours later Pags is like I can’t say anything I’m on an NDA so somebody like rushed to him and tackled him and said shut up like don’t say anything you know and then now that it’s out there wick on his interview the other day um did confirm Steve’s been a terrific lead partner lead co-owner in many ways uh BR uh brought Danny a to the table back in the day when we were looking for general manager Steve has been great and a great person and we welcome him for sure in the we welcome him for sure in the bidding process Co this is like saying like she’s nice you know like we haven’t even begun the process but the family has agreed to find a new ownership group coming in that will make everybody proud of the Celtics moving forward I again I understand full disclosure here and you’re not going to give anything away but don’t you think if it was a succession plan they would just pass it off this to me is a top dollar plan it’s yeah sh Pags thr out it’s anybody like who’s you know you know you’re you’re you’re selling your house and you have friends who like are looking for a house and be like I I’ll show it to you first but like I not going to give it to you for you know twoth thirds what I’m G to get on the market like I just I can’t that that’s a concern because I think if you look at the array of people that could possibly buy this team and I know we all have wacky names and possibilities there it’s a short list obviously given how expensive the team is here you’d pick Peg leuka if you knew he was capable of buying that controlling interest in the team but we’re just not sure about that among a million other things along with again that this is going to be a bidding process so as you said John there will be the highest bidder that comes through and buys this thing the thing I keep tossing around in my mind too Jimmy how valuable is it because we’re looking at the whole dynamic in sports right now and obviously they bought it for 360 it’s probably going to sell for over five but you don’t have the garden the local TV thing is becoming questionable that’s dying around the league here you have the national TV where you’re not even going to be on they’re locked in on that local deal for a while they’re locked in for a while because because the Celtics have part the Celtics have part ownership stake there in NBC as well and so they’re they’re tied together for a bit so and you have the tax cost there yeah that you’re buying into so is this a hugely valuable asset compared to maybe the expansion teams coming compared to I don’t know Sports around the world or in other different places or in the country I’m interested to see what kind of line there is that’s the thing Bobby is it is as a Billionaire’s vanity but maybe not for the actual reasons as you said because they don’t have all of those things well the real value right is that they’re Championship Contender immediately in that sense right so you’re buying into a team it’s the freaking Boston Celtics you know it’s like there’s a difference between owning you know the Dallas Cowboys and the Carolina Panthers like you know it doesn’t matter all of the amenity all of the extras that come with being the you’re still it’s just this janky second rate you know it’s like it’s totally It’s the freaking Celtics it’s one of the you know just most important franchises in all of professional sports there’s something there’s value in that and that’s the value right so that will there be a long line Jimmy yeah I mean these these opportunities are few and far between and I think they’ll probably become even fewer in far between as these bigger pocketed owners buy them up they’re not looking to buy them and and give them up give up on them and these Investments are I mean look at how much they’ve grown in value over the last you know five years even you know like so when an opportunity arises especially one like the Boston Celtic storyed franchise everyone knows I don’t have to go over the you know the resume of the of a franchise like that but there’s so much to owning this team more than just a basketball team right I mean you’ve got the story uh franchise aspect behind it worldwide um you know aspect of marketing and fandom it’s a it’s a probably going to be one of the best opportunities over the next decade or so sports-wise in terms of owning a team so I would expect there to be a line Bobby but I would also like as John said you know how long can the line be there’s there’s going to be guys at the very top that have you know six billion dollars to to drop on this team and there’s not going to be a lot of those people available um but certainly everyone’s going to want a piece of the pie I’m sure there’s going to try proba probably try to be people jumping in in a way that they can and try to form a team of some sort a group of of owners like you know one that’s disbanding here um but it’s gonna be that it’s gonna come down to listen Irving obviously did something right over his over his lifetime made a lot of good business decisions he’s he’s not gonna go out making a bad one let’s put it that way so the top names John on the list when the will end up with size seats by the way he’ll be okay I’m sure we’ll see him it kind of be like Cuban right we didn’t see Cuban much during the finals he wasn’t really the face but I’m sure he’s still around and still inv that’s the other thing is is Wick gonna buy in himself to some degree again maybe as a smaller owner I don’t know but the names that came out at the top of the odds immediately were Larry Ellison Oracle Peg leuka Abigail Johnson who I think’s local Fidelity J makeups which I don’t know I don’t see that and of course Fenway Sports Group as well which John obviously they poured a little cold water on that possibility in an interview recently as well saying they’re not looking to right now I would like colder water poured on just to be sure yeah surprising maybe maybe it’s too much for them I don’t know or maybe Vegas is better option for them eventually I mean and shessy wrote in his article like he didn’t believe Henry would be part of it because he’s not going to come in here and pay rent to Jacobs you know and he wants he wants that bigger thing and Bobby mentioned it too where like it doesn’t I wouldn’t go as far as to say as devalue the asset but it is a thing you know and that’s why people started to think well Casino Money Steve wi you know like could somebody do something like that to not see that in there yeah that not being involved in the odds I wonder if it’s just because they are the odds you know like so like I don’t know if you can include them in that you know right and Bezos how do you feel about he’d be a guy that doesn’t care at all about the franchise but he’s got does it matter to him what what he spends on a on a roster someone saying like please no no no Ellison I don’t want a bad billionaire are there good billionaires so here’s the question right do you want question do you want local guy local ties passionate interest in the area of the team do you want a group of many different people which always gets messy or do you want a Bezos type who it just has the deepest Pockets possible but might be aloof or out of the mix or out of the picture or just makes more bigger financial decisions that go beyond the team here so there’s there’s three different ways that can go and it’s gonna be it’s gonna be interesting because they have tough decisions to make Jimmy MoneyWise here within a year I know I mean if if I don’t know what really what Pags is rolling with but he would be my first choice assuming that he can keep you know funding the roster I guess I don’t I don’t know this this tax stuff scares the crap out of me it’s outrageous the amount of money that like a guy like they’re not gonna pay that much they’re just not who’s they the team but stands right but if it’s Bezos for example does is he more likely to because if that’s the answer if if they’re designing this so that the richest of the richest are going to have an advantage over joeo owner then I guess give me the richest of the richest and hopefully they hire guys underneath them that do care about the team Bezos could hire a wick for all I care and Wick can run the show the same way he runs it for Irving I mean what would be the difference I mean it’s the same thing so if heon be able to pretend he owns it under right that’s true he won’t he won’t but he can give him some give him some fancy title and you know he can that’s what Happ has to stay involved in some capacity you would think but it’s gonna be a small small one I don’t know if if he will I mean what’s the does it matter at that point yeah you know so I don’t know I mean I guess the smart answer is just give me the guy with the deepest pockets and that he’s willing to pay owners do one thing pay for stuff and then and then nothing I don’t want do we care about Jeremy Jacobs no I mean I don’t want a guy Center I don’t want a guy talking I don’t want a guy taking credit I don’t want a guy doing interviews nothing I in in you know in in a strange way IR was the best like yeah uh exactly give me a guy like Irv he did nothing nothing every time craft speaks I’m like dip it every time Henry emails a answer to somebody because he won’t talk to humans anymore you know it’s always the wrong thing and it’s totally toned deaf I don’t want Jerry Jones doing fraking locker room press conferences after games like the last thing you want is handson you want someone charging to the front and like here I am I want none of that just a blank checkbook and stay in the background that’s it it’s not jungle guys I just don’t want I don’t want like I don’t know how much winning matters to some of these owners that like for example a team like the Celtics yeah it’s it’s all about ticket sales I I guess from like winning SLE but they’re gonna sell tickets right I mean let’s be honest like they’re they’re they’re going to keep their star guys you would imagine and they’re going to be marketable across the world like there’s money to be made regardless of how well they do so I obviously want an owner with Deep Pockets who’s willing to spend but I want them to care about it too I just don’t know if you can have the best of both worlds so whatever you want to have the best every world yeah interesting I remember what a absolute I was working in uh you know news and sports at the time of the of the Celtics of the of the Red Sox sale and what a fraking and I know the wick came in around that time too but the Red Sox sale was an absolute Fiasco like hilarious like drama politics last minute this and that backst it was it was such theater this is I don’t know if this is shaping up for that but it is interesting because we don’t know anything um and that’s what’s strange is like the most boring and hopefully you know for most people uh thing that could be done is continuity the the Pags Handover I’m just dubious that that’s what’s happening here um that’s the easiest thing and then should and something but there is no should I don’t think they’re looking at it as what’s right by the fans that’s just lip service like we want to do bring in somebody who cares and this guy’s a good guy and this guy’s a good guy like it doesn’t it’s money it’s money they’re they they’re cashing out for the biggest chunk so some guy could come up and be like could literally outbid by two billion you know like it’s like you could be like we assume it’s going to be five or six and Pags is scraping together group to get the 5.2 billion because he thinks that’ll get it done blow it out of the water for sure somebody comes up and he’s like 7.5 can I have it now and that’s it that’s the ball game so like there’s no there’s no there’s no it should go to somebody it’s going to the it’s going to the to the money right right and there’s real concern with that because whoever comes in if they want to do that can make whatever order they want if they have that kind of money that kind of poll if they want to insert themselves to that level they can and we just saw it Minnesota they transfer owners I know there’s a little messy period in between but basically upon Lori and A-Rod buying that team they traded for Rudy goar upon ishbia buying the Suns all of a sudden Bridges and Johnson are out the door and it’s KD and Bradley Beal and Chris Paul’s out too and those all seem to be ownership orchestrated kind of moves so if you get the wrong person in here who wants to have that kind of Jerry Jones effect like you said John it might be great that they have the money that can keep this sustainable but they might have some other ideas than Brad Stevens does about how things should go the uh the the one thing working in PG’s favor uh potentially um is the notion that it’s getting done like that Wick said in his interview it’s getting done ver fairly the 51% is changing hands fairly soon and that leads one to believe that um you know they have an idea who that’s going to be because how could you know you know like it it takes a while to put together groups and offers and this and that and you’re not hearing anybody charging to the Forefront so it makes me you know the other part of me makes me wonder have they does everybody know the 51% is going to Pags in his group and Wick’s gonna be part of that it’s going to be a new structure and whatever it is and that’ll be that and then the 49% will get sold and Wick will pay for his portion of the 51% with would there be any reason they couldn’t say that um you know who the hell knows in terms of equity you know like to all the partners and creating this fair environment if you do like a capital call okay throw in who wants to raise their stake X percent you gotta like allow everybody equal like there could be some things behind the scenes that they’re just bound to but I don’t know anything about this sale of a fraking you know anything like this to this level so there might be stuff behind the scenes that prevents her from doing it but it might also be that yeah the new ownership structure will be a group led by Pags that Wick’s also going to be a part of or I don’t honestly you never know and I there would be yeah I think there would be a better way of communicating that even within the legalities and all of that than we’re gonna have a bidding process here and by Wick’s account here he hasn’t made any indication that he’s going to be part of this whole thing here and again it’s encouraging that the first name we hear is Peg L because I think that’s the name that appeals to everybody here the most so what makes the most sense to me in this entire equation is that the 51% that’s being sold just doing the math here the the 51% that’s being sold is what belongs to the grck family that’s the thing that makes the most sense so they can sell their 51 for whatever they want and everybody else can stay there or up their stake or do whatever they want to do to maybe make themselves majority owners I don’t really necessarily know but like it could be as easy as the 49% who own the rest of it just bump buying 2% more and or you know whatever it is just to get themselves up to 51 and calling it a day and that’s the end of that so yeah it’s so confusing I Mak sense because if they’re selling it at 5149 makes me believe the grck family owns that 1 and they’re going to sell that well go back to the fact that Peg luk what would happen back what they say was going to happen like in 2028 or something like that then he grasp stays on as Governor until then you know again so they’re only selling half 51% of the team right now and then and then 49 later but the 50 the controlling interest is going to go fairly soon so again you wonder whether it’s a done deal or not and it would make sense if it’s a done deal that it is shifting to uh you know internal Partners right now and a restructuring of the current ownership group or something to that effect I don’t know that that would be that would make some sense that would make some sense so let’s let’s talk about the money here because Tatum signs his extension over the last week here white signs his extension holiday did last year Brown did last year so you basically have five guys who you’ve committed a billion dollars to here collectively is is that something they’re just passing on to the next ownership group here are they going to be forced to cut cost before things transfer I think that’s the next question here because I think all the fans care about maybe there’s a little interest in who owns the team but I think that’s just Palace Intrigue right it’s really about are you gonna are you gonna gut the roster can you keep all these guys or are you gon to have to start cost cutting in a year potentially here what do you think John that’s the million dollar the I I I’ve always believed oh Jimmy your take I have I have my thoughts it’s hard for me to say honestly I I think that they are gonna get rid of some guys I think they’re gonna just try to reup it for one more year see what they can do and then they have some hard decisions they’re gonna make I know what John’s gonna say he’s always thought that they’re gonna probably get rid of that Jaylen Brown contract I think that’s what he was gonna say anyways no no no that’s not that’s not that’s not what I think that’s not what you think okay not definitively no but I have I have some thoughts I mean they I don’t see them just ignoring all these aprons and just paying absorbent tax money like even the Warriors Clippers and Nets wouldn’t do it so the Celtics aren’t going to right I don’t see that happening and that’s really not that wasn’t why it was put in place it wasn’t put in place for teams to just blow by it and ignore it right put in place to like really make you think very clearly about what you were doing and is is it good or bad for the league I guess we’ll find out I mean it sounds like they’re all about trying to get parody you know is that GNA prevent guys from sticking around teams that they’d like to stick around with you know the hometown guy or whatever for a long for a longer period of time is there going to be less loyalty now from you know you know I know obviously like times are changing and there’s a lot less of that than there used to be and it’s not really anybody’s fault it’s just the way of way of the world now um but is going to be interesting over the next few years to see how that changes the dynamic of the league does it prevent super teams from forming and Lasting is Celtics the last real are they going to be the last real one um you know based on the way that they’re designed and yeah I would say that I’ve always thought that they’ve had like a two or threee window with this roster and then they GNA blow it up now maybe they keep tum maybe they try to keep brown but the rest of those guys are not worth quite frankly the tax that comes along with them yeah um so there’s no question it’s going they’re going back everybody’s doing it even Steve Balmer and his121 billion dollar it was shocking what he did but it looks it’s honestly it’s like the John Henry approach right like you look at a team and you see that they’re going to be mired in mediocrity and it’s not worth spending into the tax and you just say no I’m not doing it and it’s like it’s what what John Henry has done to a a ridiculous extent with the Red Sox is I’m looking at the team here and I don’t see it so what am I going to go spend 40 million 30 million on a starting pitcher when this team’s not doesn’t have a core that’s going to contend right now I’d rather just save that for later and use it when we have an actual shot the question is will he use it when they have an actual shot nobody knows that but the philosophy is sound don’t sped on couple of years ago when we’re talking about trade deadline and this and that it’s like this team’s Co you know like the team look cooked did you want to D dish all of your assets for I mean the fornier year for example it’s like ah right you know everyone wants people to go for it and to spend and to spend in the tax and sure fans would rather have Paul George than not have Paul George but you look at it and be like this we’re aging and we’re mid and we’re not going anywhere we’re not contending with these top teams there’s three teams better than us four teams that walking in the gym are better than us even if we have full health there’s nothing we can do so back to that Red Sox comparison though Paul George becomes Derek Jones and whatever else the Clippers went yeah you go backwards it stinks yeah you turn you turn Mookie Betts into fraking what’s his name that the Yankees right now cheeter Downs ver faking idiot Verdugo I’m not saying directly but that’s who’s patrolling The Outfield instead of mooki the freaking B so like yeah you go backwards you take big hits there but you have to because you got to take one step backward take two steps forwards my theory is and has always been um it’s this was a two-year window and that’s why they’re loading back up for next year the idea is that we can we’ll get to through this season before the penalties start and then we got to get going and again you got to factor in a couple things like expansion when is that happening um are you gonna leave a big money player open and expansion draft boy is that a great way to clear out some cap is Drew holid the number one pick of the Las Vegas you know I don’t know you know there there’s something there where you can potentially eliminate some money uh but porzingis you might have to move off of him after next year or trade his expiring to a the worst part about is you might have to trade you might have to gut a contending team that’s the nightmare right like yeah the then you win it again and then you’re like so now I got to make cost cutting moves and you just start selling on parts that’s a disaster best case scenario is not best case if your goal is to shed you need to have a bad year an injury to one of your stars your your 10 games out Tatum’s gonna miss the first three rounds of the playoffs something something you or you know you look at it and you’re like all right we’re not going anywhere this year now I gotta trade then then you can walk away clean and be like look it just wasn’t our year and we’re looking towards next year but you win it next year or you get back to the finals and you enter the next season you can’t just start just dropping guys you know you’re screwed if you’re the owners you’re you love it if you’re the fans because you’re like just keep it coming but if your goal is to eventually get off that second apron and stop paying this R you’re talking about a $450 million payroll like nobody wants that I don’t care how rich you are so somebody’s going to find a way to get under that and it’s gonna hurt like it’s gonna be a sh it’s gonna be a shave yeah unless you’re that Bonafide Contender and you want to do it for one year maybe two yeah whoever the new ownership group is yeah you might have to run one more year then Chris STS goes off the books and you lose a little you get some there that’s been the interesting thing this summer is to see how it all works out and across the board I was expecting some money dumping moves and maybe some of the teams with cap space would absorb guys from other spots that they couldn’t keep paying and I guess that happened in the LA Philadelphia situation with George is George basically just left the Clippers and went into that Philly cap space even though there was no trade involved between the two uh but you didn’t see Minnesota dump a towns this this summer you didn’t see some of those other high cost teams move a medium to high level contract there to try to keep their roster more sustainable what ended up happening is guys mostly just left their teams in free agency Denver let cwell Pope walk La let George walk uh the Warriors just let Paul Walk teams pretty much just let guys go you didn’t have these sign and trades to try to save face a little bit I guess the Bulls did with the Rosen but across the board teams pretty much just let guys go and free agency became a little bit more of a thing here so that’s going to be the question with the Celtics is you’ve signed all these guys to give yourself the best possible options when the time comes if you need to move one of them or you end up moving the guy who looks the worst in that situation maybe attack attaching some picks or whatever uh but that didn’t really happen this offseason John teams outside of some like small examples like Tim Hardaway or some other money moving deals Devonte Graham there weren’t really like porzingis or holidays moved this summer in terms of cost saving so is that even going to be possible like there are teams in the league that want a tank right now the Nets don’t want a Drew holiday the Pistons don’t yet want like a poor zingis so when that time comes you you might either just be paying for those guys or letting them go yeah and that might be it you the worst thing like in the past was always like well you can’t let the asset go you need that you can’t replace it you know because you’re so far over the cap so you have to maintain it even if you are getting dinged on taxes but the only way to get cheap it might be literally just to let them go so porzingis just walks and then that’s 30 million plus all of the tax you’re paying that’s a huge that’s huge cap relief in two years but it’s two years away Nothing is Stopping this train from frakin smashing into the station in 2526 like that’s North Station they can’t get off of that like there’s no way even if you trade stuff you need matching salary like you’d have to trade multiple pieces now to be clear by 2526 so you how are you getting off that you’re not whoever is coming in you’re owning this team is paying that bill in year one and then reducing later but I mean how can you get off that well porzingis is the first one t years off in 26 yeah so maybe he’s expiring after this year obviously you know when you look at this why would you trade an expiring for an expiring right porzingis is the first bit of money he go c space yeah but that’s the first one that’s the first one yeah yeah so so that’s the first one you look at and then maybe a team loves holiday at that point maybe he’s still that kind of ceiling razor for but yeah you might have to trade two players off of a potential repeat championship team to start entertaining the that’s a terrible predicament to be in you know really really bad it’s another reason why spell yeah it is a terrible predicament to be in but also it’s like you kind of knew that it was the possibility I mean you kind of sold you sold yeah you sold out and you got it and you won it’s GNA be hard and people are going to hate the new owners you’re saying it’s going to be the new ownership that’s going to be tasked with de just me you know dismembering this team basically yeah people are gonna hate them right off the bat but it’s what they were left with you know it would have been it would have been the grow specs I guess doing it if they still had held on and we still love that they did it because you got that one title and that’s all you were looking for there I mean what’s yeah so what’s the alternate they never sign them and they never have to get rid of them like we always said John it’s not our freaking money so go ahead s all the guys you want win two championships and then get if you have to get rid of them you have to get rid of them we say mess the NBA is creating this mess somebody explained to me why the NBA is so freaking complicated it’s a baffling system they just didn’t want like the golden states or the Clippers of the world just saying I don’t care they needed to make it really punitive so it wouldn’t be this gross halves and have knots even in a world with caps and penalties they had to make the penalties so gross that nobody would want to do it that was why you know above all they’re gonna they’re gonna bring down the salary growth here too effectively because as we’ve said you’ve seeing quickly come through and Vagner come through and all these deals year after year after year where you’re like whoa what’s going on here but like Jimmy said it’s become so convoluted with the way teams get hard CA and the way teams can’t spend and some can that everyone just ends up getting confused and everyone ends up getting angry because now guys are leaving great teams to go to Orlando and Philadelphia and these teams that were in the mix Ro players at this point yeah you really can’t like Hower is gonna get what did I see from bernardon that it’s gonna cost him it’s gonna cost the Celtics 80 million because they’re at this second apron to Reign Hower on like A10 million deal did I understand that accurately or did I just make that up completely it’s almost almost two to it’s like two to one it’s bad but it’s it’s bigger than that actually it’s it’s bad um like 2.5 times seven or something as you know I’m not as worried about the second apron stuff like again it’s you can’t no it’s not the second apron you can live with those penalties right now because you don’t need the things that it’s stopping you you can’t live with them forever but you can’t live with them forever and nobody wants to be paying $500 million in Sal in salary so the owner is just going to be like no this is insane I’m not that’s where the issue comes so it’s gonna be that you’re right Bobby the second apron you can live with anyway uh it’s all interesting and it’s fun and you know and again it’s not it’s a problem that’s a little further down the road but it’s interesting to see how it plays out uh we are going to tell you uh and we’ll pivot to some summer interview the other day says winning an NBA title ends the elite debate he didn’t quite say that looks ginormous by the way did you see the picture of him he looks even bigger I think that was more a byproduct of him having his hands behind his back and because the shoulders pop out you can see that it was it was the pose as much as there’s no way he added 20 pounds of muscle start freaking out again it’s the haircut which makes his head look smaller and makes his body look bigger and his arms were behind his back he didn’t get jacked in two weeks he’s been taking it easy for two weeks guys he hasn’t done a freaking thing he’s been lifting that trophy man yeah right trying different Victory poses that he saw on YouTube you know how did Kobe hold it up or down yeah right but um again asked about it you know and and and I feel bad because we’ve given him grief for like talking about this stuff too much but everyone keeps freaking asking him about it um can you and you know another question about like hey does this Championship end your you know your Elite you know the debate on this and that and he’s like it’s being the topic of discussion so many debates whatever can he lead a team is he top five still a lot of things I guess they can debate but now I’ve done something they can’t debate I’ve won a championship so good that’s the right answer absolutely everybody put it to bed the problem here is they won’t like you already saw Shaq the other day Celtics had an easy path I don’t think they’re going to repeat and if they don’t we’re going to crap all over them and we’re going to say that they were joke champions last year look Jimmy’s saying bye haters High haters and he’s made it clear and I will too screw you guys complain all you want Celtics ripped through the League this entire year and absolutely ripped through the playoffs in dominant fashion so go f yourselves if you’re GNA complain however as Kevin Durant has taught us you can’t change narratives here um Kevin Durant wants to tell everybody he’s a two-time NBA champion and NBA Finals MVP and that his legacy is secured and he’s a winner and everyone’s like yeah no you took the easy way and he can’t change it for the life of him nor will he ever be able to fair or not fair it’s what they think that it’s what the world thinks it matters not what you say it’s not evidence it’s not in court a judge is not going to bang his gavl and say Tatum is aite now he has won the title so if people want to keep thinking it people have to feel it so that’s not going away for for them and it’s going to chase them this year and it actually adds a little bit of pressure this year it’s not like the monkey off the back as we’d all said they win and now they’re they can write their legacy forever people are still coming at these guys a little bit I think in terms of the respect card they’re gonna have to they’re gonna have to battle that this year yeah and you know what if that’s what it takes then that’s what it takes it’s it’s these guys are young enough tat and brown are young enough where they can’t just like retire and rest on their l like they still have enough years where they they can change they can still completely change the narrative on who they are the types of player they are they could each go out and win three more titles when it’s all said and done whether it’s with the Celtics or somewhere else um Tatum’s right nobody can say that he couldn’t win a title but we’ve talked about what the Celtics did in order to put them over the top it wasn’t like Tatum and brown completely took over the league and Carri the Celtics to a championship they added players they added porzingis they added holiday you know they you know whatever they got from production From the Bench whether it was Hower Horford um you know they they Derek white you know they had an unbelievable roster and yes Tatum and brown Lov the way and they will and deserve to get their flowers but they’re still going to get all the naysayers all the haters all the Lakers fans all the Heat fans whoever you want to bring on bring on up there’s GNA be plenty of hate or negativity that can still get shot the celix way Jaylen Brown is always been very good at using negative negativity to fuel him and I imagine Tatum’s probably good at it too but there’s going to be plenty of that there’s not going to be a situation where the Celtics should feel like they they have no reason to get up in the morning and and like play hard because there’s going to be just as much doubters if not more than there were before they won a title because if you look at the way they won it wasn’t necessarily uh you know an unbelievable Tatum uh series Browns showed up in certain points tum show up at certain points nobody put the team on their back those players though still have the ability to change the narra narrative on them and say oh I did carry the team or or whatever not saying that they have to but they’re still young enough where they can and we’re talking about the Celtics roster how it’s gonna have some turnover over the next few years we’ll see which players remain but they’re going to have the ability to continue to prove people wrong and if that’s what it is then that’s what it is but as far as it goes this summer Tatum’s going to hold that Trophy and he’s going to talk about winning a title and BR about being a champ and he deserves that he has every right to and then when the um you know preseason starts back up and the new season begins that’s G to go behind you you can’t just still be talking about that you have to be talking about the next season or the current season because that’s all that matters people are gonna forget very quickly that you are an NBA champ they’re not going to care anymore and that goes for the Celtics fans too it’s fine for a while but it’s all about what have you done for me lately and let’s win the next one what did Tom Brady always says the best one is the next one so that’s really the mindset now I’m not saying don’t enjoy the offseason do all those things but when this upcoming season starts that’s it you know put it behind you and get back out there and prove everybody wrong because if you go Ahad and do it again it’s going to be hard to doubt these guys um regardless of how they go and do it yeah absolutely that brings you to a higher Echelon and it’s important that they got the first one I think that gives you a lot of power and confidence and comfort in yourself and who you are and I think that’s a lot of what he’s displaying here and I even like some of the commentary he’s making about this USA team where he’s like I don’t care if I start we’re all comfortable with ourselves we’re going to do what it takes to win this thing and that’s the Olympics like it’s one thing to do that with the Celtics and you know your regular job here but you know you might want to go out with Team USA and show your stuff and Market yourself and he’s not even interested in that and so I think that’s the one thing we’ve always talked about here we have nitpicks with them and as stuffs I want to see from him going into next year and going forward because it wasn’t a perfect run for Tatum they won in spite of his offensive performance sometimes during this run but I think he came to appreciate his willingness to pass the defensive versatility here the lack of baggage I mean he’s out here saying he wants to play the rest of his career with this team this week here too and you love all that stuff like there’s so many worst drawbacks you could have in your star than the ones you have with Tatum here where maybe you don’t like how he sounds in front of the mic or he’s a little boring or he’s not the best shooter that we’ve seen from you know him and his other points in his career and I you know I want to see all that stuff turn around a little bit here but it’s not going to be perfect and that’s why I really struggle with here John is that championship’s a big deal they’ve been chasing this thing for a while I think Celtics fans did a pretty good job enjoying it and I’m actually with Jimmy here where I don’t really care about all the naysayer stuff yeah like it’s well that’s why I left this comment up here this one’s my favorite because because it was everyone was looking for a reason you know to knock them out because I think they just they were bored I said it from the beginning they were they were so good success a little boring in a Spurs kind of fashion yes they they legitimately just dominated the entire year the amount of all of the stats you throw out there the amount of 20po leads they had the differential in the Eastern Conference their point differential historically how it’s stacked up offensive rating being the best of all all of these things were ridiculously historically good and now you’re GNA be like well you know this guy was H whatever like fine people were hurt the path was easy they win those games anyway I if everyone was healthy they would have stomped them yeah I like and this is what bugs me is everyone built up Dallas to be a super team and then but then the Celtics beat the tar out of them because obviously they were going to and they did it without porzingis for the most part they beat the crap out of Dallas so it wasn’t even competitive it wasn’t sorry that it wasn’t and so where was this Dallas is a great team and the Celtics are Chumps it the injury luck was against the Celtics in these finals so you can’t say Dallas is this great team and they’re going to beat him in the best guard Duo of all time and watch the Celtics just absolutely dominate them and then say well the whole path was easy it doesn’t work you pick a lane okay it’s the aesthetic if you pick the lane of of course they’ll beat Dallas Dallas isn’t a real Contender then you can say they had an easy path but you picked Dallas so right it was because you thought they were better and then the Celtics took them behind the wood you thought that you were better you thought that your basketball brain was better but you’re they killed them they killed them so that’s why I left that one up there and I agree I don’t care the Nays it’s not going to remove the pressure for next year now Bobby you mentioned about things getting better um like I does Tatum have time to fix his jump shot this summer with this busy schedule he chilled out because that’s what you do like your season goes long like you if you get eliminated in the second round you’ve got May and part of June to chill out then you get back in back to work in July he’s been chilling out for a little bit and he’s just getting back in the gym now on July 8th or SE 7th when he reported then they’re going to play a bunch of basketball here you know that’s I it’s not like working on your skill set you’re gonna practice some You’re Gonna Play in these games then it’s GNA hit August and you’re gonna not want you’ve yet to have a real break you know from things like there isn’t time to put in work per se like what do you think happens here because mechanically I’m not a shot doctor he definitely did start to look Herky jerky and weird and if you look at his earlier jumper I think he was more straight up and down and a quicker release and everything somebody tweeted one time it looks like an elephant on furling its trunk now he’s got this weird you know you know so I does I don’t know if it needs surgery but is he have time to go like to work on some of this stuff or is it just gonna show up next year and just hope that it’s better it was bad in the playoffs 28% he went into that slump and never really came out out of it so there’s obviously something you have to look at here I do wonder and I’m super curious to see how much of that was a product of him just absorbing the extra pressure out there and maybe losing a few percentage points on his own and other guys benefiting from that because I think on this roster because his three point percentage went up this year this is fair to point out is he shot better from three this year than he did the year before right yeah during the year and then it just went to hell in the playoffs and was there an injury involved in there or something I don’t know but it was bad and it didn’t look 100% right so you know maybe you go back to the basics a little bit there won’t be an overhaul here certainly but I want to see first and foremost does having the LeBron on the ball next to him and and be in the post dishing it out of there and getting triple teamed and those translating into easier shots for him catch and shoot opportunities I mean he’s always been a great catch and shoot guy it’s the pullup stuff that we hate here and I I keep going back to it Jimmy especially you look at the picture of him here and just how he looks physically and how he performed in the finals when you look back on it I just want him in the post more than ever this year I don’t want there to be nine threes a game I don’t want there to be a million it’s all about the pose it’s all the pose with the arm hard so you’re gonna you’re gonna be you’re gonna be taking the picture like that look at look at skinny wimpy little uh H Burton Booker yeah B and Booker look at Booker Booker looks like a little pipsqueak next to Tatum you’re gonna be look and did Tatum pick him up and put and put him in that seat before they took the picture oh man I I want more than ever I felt like this during the finals John I think I even said it to you it’s time for him to go to the post and live there I he’s so dominant around the basket physically rather pull up from the post it’s it’s not even backing guys down and and necessarily getting to the basket even though he can it’s it’s the other stuff it’s like like just rise up and shoot from the post like he has this weird propensity of instead of just getting to a spot and rising up everything is a step back even when he doesn’t need it to be he’s got that in his brain where he’s got to fall away all the time so yeah I’d rather see uh I’d rather see him working from somewhere else where he can operate a little bit um in the post instead of like catching the ball 27 feet from the basket I just don’t love that he yeah he needs to make some adjustments here Jimmy there’s no doubt it wasn’t a perfect run for him I think you like a lot of the stuff he did outside the scoring but the scoring and the efficiency and the approach to the game in terms of shot selection has to change slightly here because listen if we’re going to talk about Tatum’s love look here in that run criticism for how he looked and how the numbers look and all of that what you can say tangibly going forward you don’t take anything away from what he did but they’re probably gonna need more from him this year right because they’re gonna play without porzingis most of the Year back to our conversation earlier as guys go away who perfectly complemented he and brown they’re gonna have to take on much more in terms of the stuff they do night toight to carry the team and I think that’s going to require a little bit more phys uh a little bit more efficiency a little bit more of a realization of who he is as an offensive player and and a scorer and I just think a a shift inside and I know they they gamed it perfectly this year Jimmy right where it’s three-point volume and so much of it is a numbers game but that’s the balance not only that this team’s facing and Tatum’s facing but basketball is facing right is that aesthetic versus the analytics and I’m sure if we look at how the Celtics played and how Tatum played it was analytically perfect but it didn’t look right and it didn’t play out right all the time for Tatum here so I think like there’s something for him too to look at it’s 100 per right it’s like the pull-ups are necessary um in order because he has to be defended a certain way if the threat of that isn’t there it changes the dynamic he has to shoot seven eight n threes a game because again analytically that’s the right way to play I don’t think it’s the shooting and I don’t think it’s the shooting wo I think Tatum could live at 36 37% I think it’s just the ball stopping that’s the bigger issue uh with wi with with with him offensively is it takes him in order to size up what he’s going to do to get there it just it can halt the offense at times and then when it’s not going well it kind of it it it doubles up yeah I mean I’m wondering if this the way the Celtics play and the way Missoula plays is going to prevent Tatum from ever being as effective as we want him to be in the post Bobby because he’s got the green light he’s got the green light to take those threes just like everybody else does and again if you’re talking about the statistical side of things and the you know all that stuff it’s hard to argue it because they just want a title basically with that approach right so I’m with you Bobby I would love to see him drive more I actually thought that he was to start the year it looked like he had worked on his like his drives his penetration looked like he had more moves to the basket and he can get to the basket so easily when that’s his Focus I also wonder if winning a title changes his priorities and I guess we’ll find out I think the Maverick series is he less willing to do is Tatum going to be more or less willing to do what it takes to win having already won one does he like how it feels so much that he wants to win another one or is he listening to the naysayers and saying Tatum’s not Elite he can’t you know put a team on his back is he gonna focus more on trying to get his and just ride that title that he has for a couple years try to get his stats where he wants him to be and is he more willing to to go that route or is he less willing because he’d rather just taste another uh Championship you know that’s what it comes down to sure the the third answer is he fixes his shot and he becomes a top three player in the NBA and he does drive more but um you know guys have to respect his shot and it opens things up for him otherwise I don’t know the team’s also still really really good so is he gonna have that same mindset where he doesn’t have to take over games you know and think of how annoying it’s gonna be Jimmy you know we sat there all playoffs and I’m going back and forth with Joe and it’s like is Tatum struggling no he’s playing great look at this stuff and and are we just right GNA do that every year defending and how frustrating is that eventually well no for Tatum too because everyone’s gonna sit there John even if we know that he’s doing all the little things and say he’s shooting 43% and you know 28% from three and you know Brown’s kind of carrying things like that’s that’s gonna happen repeatedly here if you know he doesn’t find a way offensively to be able to beat extra pressure and you know just counteract some things teams do to try to slow him because let’s face it a a lot of times and you said it it’s a speed thing sometimes for him right but sometimes it’s a settling thing too and there’s a sheer will I think he can play with that would allow him to be more consistent more effective in the scoring game and I listen I love all the other stuff he does I do and I appreciate and I understand it but you’re not just gonna sit there after a postseason where he really struggled from the field and just be like yeah it’s it’s fine nothing to worry about there just doing that look this this whole thing yeah this whole thing only works with these guys if they continue maintaining like their Elite level like if you slip back to the pack and you’re like okay those guys are pretty good but they’re not you know great like then you lose your superpower like Tatum being a top fiveish let’s call him 6 S8 wherever he lands and brown making another leap forward uh into kind of cemented you know right on the cusp of all NBA is that’s about where he’s at you know in that kind of you know 14 15 16 17 overall player sort of thing in terms of their value to a team you know playing you know such an important position in the modern NBA yeah you you want them to continue improving like look we spent all of this time saying they haven’t even reached their primes you would hate to think that Tatum is going backwards in in terms of his skill set that there’s still room to improve and refine your game not just it to play in a more cerebral way which they both have done uh you know more so over the past uh you know couple of years but also just your skill set should continue to improve it’s not they should still have another gear potentially they could reach I think Tatum has Tatum can still be better you know there’s a lot of decisions he can make to make him better and not just going to the lab and working on some stuff um so yeah absolutely I think you know it’s better and I do think the Tatum Evolution doesn’t go towards back towards 30 points a game as Jimmy said is he gonna go get his stats I think it goes to nearly triple double status you know like that if he’s gonna improve that’s where he’s going is it’s gonna be 25 10 and eight you know type of thing that would be best for the team that’s Elite like where he should get if he’s going to truly play this role of point forward or facilitator of the offense and it runs through him look the passing was good and it was very good in the finals and you know we had a double digit assist game like in the first half of the last game right that’s got to be every game he has to be he should be in addition to scoring he has to shoot more efficiently but he should be putting up those types of stat lines all the time that’s where he wants to get to in his Evolution make the quick reads shoot shoot more efficiently don’t stop the ball and and absolutely like I’d see 24 or 25 10 and 8 is is is his Peak and I still think he can get there get there that’s that is the best that would be the best version of Tatum for sure best version that’s where I think it gets to I don’t think he needs to be flat out just more of a score anyway I think we’re gonna skip summer league we’ve gone on long enough and Jimmy it’s a school night and he’s you know he’s got homeschool first thing in the morning so he’s got to get ready uh we are we’ll come back we’ll do a summer league preview later in the week it might just be me and Bobby maybe and paros we’re got we we got Greek I’m going in for I’m going in exactly a month Me and Bobby are going to Europe too yeah are we there at the same time I think we are wait where you’re in Paris where are you Jimmy I’m going to Paris as well I’m going to London and Paris oh you are yeah I’m going to the are you gonna go seeu I’m not competing I just want to make that clear I’m not actually in the Olympics but can you check in on my dad cuz he’s going to be there I would love to I was supposed to go with him but I couldn’t I couldn’t do that long a trip because I’m going to uh I’m going to uh to Greece for you know two and a half weeks so I couldn’t be gone that long you might get a you might get a podcast from Jimmy and I in Paris we might do a live we might have to do a stand I’ll do one from when are you guys coming back from Europe um August 12th or something like that I think I get back I’ll be in Athens at that time we should do a European podcast wow that would be something we got fans out we we’ve got some fans out International uh I’ll do I’ll do it I’ll do it from the Acropolis remotely on my phone yeah love that yeah excit we’ll see jimy and I up out there that’s awesome gonna try we’re definitely gonna try I’ve never been to Paris so I’m sure it’ll be a little different during the Olympics I love it but I’m a big I’m a big city guy so like when when we some people like to like do hike and stuff on vacations Laura and I like to just go to cities and pretend we live there and then just Bop around and eat our way from one Cafe to the next one I think that’s what you yeah I mean we’re gonna well the cool thing is like the the way that the Olympic are set up in Paris is they take place in a lot of like famous spots so like for example I’m going to an event beach volleyball but it’s on the lawn of the Eiffel Tower so I’m gonna see the Eiffel Tower while I’m watching we’re gonna we’re going to another event in like the Palace of Versailles that there’s an event inside the palace so we’ll check out the palace well you know what I mean so it’s speaking that are they really that’s amazing that that that when I went when I went to the Olympics in Greece um that’s not what they did they just built all of the all of this [ __ ] all over I’m sure they are building some stuff but they are utilizing some of what already exists um beach volleyball was always the was the wildest ticket it’s a fraking party it’s awesome we we got like a VIP ticket I don’t even know what that freaking absolute bash it’s so fun that reminds me I saw a tweet today this would have been the Boston Olympics if that came through how would that have been how would that have great I was all on board everybody all the freaking were like I wasn’t dude traffic that’s there’s already enough horrible Construction in traffic do what everybody else does do what everybody else does rent your place go on vacation somewhere else and avoid it you know it’s the construction it’s not the two you know how many Greeks were in Athens during the Olympics like three like they were gone I I i’ be fine two weeks of the events it’s just everything else I don’t want to deal with congrats to jannis and Greece making it I love that I’m hoping they make a run I love y as you all know and uh he was Unreal in the qualifiers yeah I’m rooting for USA Bobby sorry I’m not like anti-American over here you can root for Greece I’ll root for USA yeah is Italy in it probably not no so this uh it’s such a small field it’s only 12 teams like there are good team there you know I think the US’s group is uh Serbia which is pretty cool the first games against Serbia so yic embiid and then it’s like sou Sudan and uh you know I forget who the other on gonna duck yic in the first game he didn’t sound too throwed about it that’s they always kick our ass embiid I was hurt that’s why we lost well why are you playing in the freaking Olympics then Loser yeah seriously yeah seriously Drew holidays shout out to him Dre holiday gonna be playing as well I wish Derk white was on the team but so be it I am curious um how Tatum’s gonna be used you know because the first lineup that they had out there he was starting ahead of the unit that they had was LeBron Tatum uh embiid as the front Court not Duran that Carr was running and people are thinking that might be who plays against Canada so we’ll see well everyone’s a role player to Anthony Edwards right everyone’s just gonna be a role player and everything goes through Anthony Edwards now yeah and it was Steph Edwards was the back court so Edwards with that unit interesting I know Durant had the yeah he has the calf thing so that was that was one reason why I’m curious ex Tatum gets that nod over him he should he’s probably better than Durant is at this point yeah Durant’s a bucket though man that’s true we’ll see V Durant might still have the fire one last one last Olympic bid you know get him out there just go to work but yeah these guys are like very like a guy like Durant like they seem like very like open to deferring to these younger guys too like they’re very complimentry of them they’re very like they raise a little bit Yeah so I could see Durant just passing the torch and just taking on whatever role he’s given it’s good they’ve got it’s a balanced team it’s not you know you’ve had past teams where it’s like they can’t do you know like they can do a lot you know and defensively they can you they can the embiid thing changed everything Davis would have been good but embiid takes it to another level well I mean you have mbid Davis and Bam in the middle that’s really fraking three all defensive like all defensive caliber players patrolling the middle of the field Tatum holiday you know other people there so um you know definitely that can get after leading leading the Germans yeah Ty Ty will never go away in Boston Ty schroer Vagner yeah insane that’s it’s gonna be really hard for other teams to to hang with the bigs there yeah yeah definitely so it’ll be fun anyway we’re going to probably do some uh some stuff in and around the Olympics as well but uh stay tuned as we said we’re going to do a couple of these every single uh week throughout the offseason as best we can we’ll jump back later and we’ll do some summer league stuff we had a bunch of things we wanted to talk about but we went on on the owners and Tatum and other stuff so we’re just gonna wrap it up there uh but we will be back maybe Thursday um we’ll see how it goes and do another show uh previewing some along some gritty winds get some hard nose hard hat wins um and I will say we’ve got some stuff coming down the pipeline whether it’s Celtics related whether it’s Patriots related we’re going to get some different teams in the mix here the merch store is going to keep growing and uh we want it to be a place where people go to um to see what new items are are up and up and running you know we want
