GARY TRENT JR IS ICE COLD IN FREE AGENCY, WISH IT WAS DIFFERENT…

I don’t even want to talk about this I thought I talked about it before I don’t want to keep you know harping on the gmoney situation but more information keeps coming out even though we knew this information it’s different when you see it in writing we know he wanted $100 million we know he wanted $25 million a year and we knew he was never going to get it never ever he was never going to get it it’s an inog hook the reality is we like them and we still like him that’s what bothers us about this situation as a raptor fan we like G money we genuinely like him and want him on this team but we’re not going to pay a ridiculous price for a depreciating asset no matter how much we like him all he had to do was do the work we understand the situation was chaotic at times and we know but he had every out of all the players coming off the bench he had opportunity to be in a better position than he is right now way better we all know that to be a truth he was given every opportunity they want he even started last year I didn’t feel like he deserved it but it it was situational not based off of his conduct or his abilities but based off the situation and even then we weren’t we didn’t get the satisfact the satisfaction that we wanted but we still like the guy we genuinely like G money I’m the one that gave him the name we all want him to be on this team but we hate the circumstances we hate the fact that one of our players who who we put every who we gave every opportunity to has decreased in value we don’t do that our starters and our key players get paid that’s the trend you come from here you leave being a raptor and you go to other organizations you going to get the bag that’s the trend he breaking the cipher everybody else got paid everybody everybody that was a factor they got paid even the guys that were coming off the bench seven eight they got paid and they’re getting opportunities shout out to Delano band over in Portland like let’s be honest we really want we’re still rooting for this kid but the honest truth is he played himself he bet on himself he lost and now we we moving on but it’s like we’re leaving that door cracked for a conversation at the proper price point we not playing with Rich Paul Chris Paul we not playing with him we don’t care about how many rights chrisy trecy bring we don’t care about how we we already know you had a ghost riter everybody talk about Drake having a ghost riter who cares that’s music it’s different when you got a Ghostwriter writing your contracts for you that’s different that’s different see but they sweep that under the rugs that’s part of that that LeBron situ you know how that go they they in Pocket they making a lot of money they making a lot of cheddar right now that chicken look real good over there they getting to it we know clutch Sports is really LeBron’s whole organization his whole idea here’s the Ari the Ari Gold at clutch it’s not rich Paul it’s LeBron James nobody can recruit star players and recruit players and put a light on players and bring value to players like he does it’s a fact only thing they can never play with him because then you know you go into the black hole and never to return Paul is no freaky but we want to have a good conversation about you know if if we bring him back and as frustrating as I am like we like I said we genuinely like him like I’m annoyed I’m not going to even hold you I’m annoyed but I like him I like the guy I like the fact that like he he should be on our team but we deserve more from him we we gave him an opportunity he didn’t do as much as we thought he would do with the opportunity now the opportunity has to be given to someone else he if he wants to be here he’s going to have to fight for it and drop that price he bet on himself and he lost and he never became the consistent performer we needed him to be to even to retain his his level of his status with us and his price point with us like he didn’t even hold on to that it’s to the point where teams ain’t even when we offered him as a free agent it was as a as a as a trade piece it was crickets out there for two years even these Lakers that won him so much they wouldn’t even they wouldn’t even trade for him with the weakest of players that they had you know they roster was shot to hell but they wouldn’t trade for him even with Rich Pro being his agent they figured they could get him for the low and and it’s frustrating because he had so much potential and he had so much support like how many players get the support that he got from us how many a lot of NBA players thousands of NBA players have played and have been a part of teams and have never gotten what he got from us and we just met this [ __ ] just got here there has to be some type of restur there has to be some type of work like even with me I got here what a year or two before he got here there’s reciprocity the support I get I make sure I put the work in and if the product don’t feel right and it don’t I don’t put it out I’m pushing to be the best version of myself to make sure that when we talk about sports you get the experience that you can’t get nowhere else you get that fire when you come here we got people who aren’t even rap the fans coming over over here cuz I talk that [ __ ] because the relationship is such that I don’t want to let anybody down no matter who it is I don’t want to let y’all down I’m not coming like that’s why y’all see me when I disappear for a minute I’m working on my craft I’m working on something I see something either I could do better or I need to change cuz it’s messing up the fun it ain’t grooving like I needed to groove it got to sound like a hit I need them I need hits this ain’t about going viral none of that I need to know that when I drop it it’s fire it’s Illmatic it’s undeniable you can’t compare it to nothing else ain’t nothing [ __ ] with it even if it got more views even if it got better cameras even if they got a makeup artist or a whole team I’m a oneman army I get busy I take pride in that and I respect the fact that people take time out to support but he ain’t we don’t get that from him we’re not getting that he’s doing what he want to do not what we need him to do he don’t understand what we need what he needs to be for this team to be successful he has so much potential and he never read the room as the NBA tide started to change the NBA information is in [ __ ] 2036 and he’s still moving like his he’s moving on outdated data as a lot of people are but it’s we really don’t want to give up up on him we just want him to understand that yo listen homie it’s you got to have a sense of urgency you can’t come to us thinking that being a onedimensional player is is worth any real investment we understand that the NBA got the bag and they throwing out money ridiculously but watch do you see the trend that’s going on now in the NBA they not just throwing money away either they gonna get that money back 20 fold or they going to try and lowball you this is business now they not playing they’re in the business of entertainment basketball is the backdrop now basketball used to be in the Forefront now the entertainment is in the Forefront basketball is in the backdrop they trying to get paid they know they can get paid and they will get paid that’s just the way the game is designed but they’re not going to make ridiculous Investments and to give you a $100 million thinking that they gonna get that return nah I don’t I don’t they don’t believe in it they going to let you sit there until you drop to the point where you’re affordable or they get or they feel like they’re getting a steal they watched you compete they watched you compete they watched you work they watched you produce they watched you they know exactly what they’re willing to they they they have the exact price that they’re willing to invest in you that’s reasonable for them anything above that they don’t even want to talk I don’t it’s ridiculous you shouldn’t even he shouldn’t even be in this situation but he didn’t develop the other fundamentals that are necessary 6’5 non-athletic shooting guard shoot first guard who’s giving up shots if you coming in there as a shoot first guard and that’s your theme that’s what you do who the hell is giving up shots like I said with Fred the only way Fred got away with is because he’s the point guard so he know how to mingle and get his shots in but if you coming up if you a two guard you relying on somebody giving you the Rock and they looking at it like yo where we if we had an extra 16 shots why we ain’t divide them amongst the homies what we giving him that for he outside he ain’t one of us why we giving him them shots n they not they teams ain’t checking for that and you’re not rebounding and you’re not getting assist and you don’t you play defense whenever you feel like it like back in the day you would be considered a specialist and and Specialists had their place but even then they still had limited value now you know what I mean that that ain’t going to fly the technology is too far going you have to be a little bit more you have to have enough of the other skills to make your main skill your signature style of play your signature skills valuable because the reality is how you win is with the fundamentals how you stay on the court is based off the fun how you wear down and break down your opponent to get them into that vulnerable space so that you can start playing your real game is with the fundamentals you think Mike and Kobe and a you think all these scorers that were magnificent all these shooters you think they started the game out with all that fly [ __ ] no they started with the fundamentals footwork getting in Rhythm finding their spots coming off the screens catching shoot moving well without the ball setting setting screens rolling setting screens popping looking to grab rebounds looking to box out looking to make sure that when they get opportunity to shoot they make the most of it fig they figured the game out and put their they box their opponents in before they even start playing for real it’s the same thing Floyd does first five or six rounds fundamentals the last six rounds beat your face in then he starts fighting like that’s how it’s supposed to be your fundamentals at at a pro level are supposed to be so good that you can get your regular numbers just off of fundamentals alone just off your basic one two step just off of basic skills now it’s like everybody want to do too much these kids dribble too much they they don’t pass enough they don’t box out you should be doing all of that cuz that’s going to set you aside and put you on another level just as a old head you’ve been in the league six years you should know better now now you look you look like what the young boys look like but the young boys are the young boys they six years younger five years younger they’re willing to invest in them developing and you are pretty much the old man set in your ways you’re a middle like at six years you’re kind of like a middle-age that’s the middle age of a basketball career these young kids now are bringing a little bit more to the table right they’re developing other skills whether they utilize them or not because they really don’t know how to play that’s where the limitation comes in because they really don’t know how to use everything they’ve been working on it’s not because they can’t do it they don’t know how to utilize it they don’t know how they they have to understand the game enough to know where to plug that in I would rather have that than a player who just doesn’t have those skills at all who gets the opportunity to make a great pass and doesn’t and can’t who can’t box out you know what I mean while guys are just hust because rebounding is effort you don’t have to be athletic to rebound you bust your ass Fred out Fred outrebounded him numerous times you know what I mean so we can’t we can’t afford to have anything less than the efforts and the energies and the abilities that we need to compete with the where where the NBA is going and where the Eastern Conference is you know what I mean and and if the work doesn’t get done those checks don’t get cut you know what I mean the work that we needed him to do hasn’t been done yet that’s a fact like he doesn’t understand the type of player we need him to be just on a basic fundamental level he can’t there’s no way that he believes that all he has to do is get on the court and shoot and that’s enough like regardless of what the coaches tell you when you get on the court you can feel the heartbeat of the game you can feel the pulse of the game you become one with the energy you know like ain’t no way we gonna win this game if all I’m doing is shooting especially if I especially if it ain’t clicking like that how do you get the shots that you need how do you get your game going it’s doing everything else you draw confidence when you grab a rebound you feel like you deserve to get the ball you help out on defense you get a steal you grab a loose ball you know what I mean like you do all you set a screen you cut to the basket you start to feel like you deserve the ball so now you’re building this positive energy as opposed to just coming in with this entitlement messing up the flow like he just it’s a lot to be desired but we like the guy we just don’t we understand that when we have when you got to move on you got to move on you know what I mean and there’s a lot of work that should have been done he should be a lot better more polished more developed and he isn’t you know what I mean like we need to know definitively like what what your skill sets are and how we can utilize them and how you utilize them in games we don’t get that we don’t know what’s going to happen we just hoping that your jump shot click and when it’s hitting then it’s it’s a movie but you have to start building your game around the team’s game plan and the team’s identity and and not so much what you want to do in your own identity everybody comes in and and I’m glad this is starting to phase out they come in with this fantasized startom and wealth that they want to attain and they forget that it’s a job and that you have to do what the organization need you to do so that the organization could be successful and when the organization is successful you get paid you’re going to always get paid if you winning beets more winning success and personal greatness beets more development and personal greatness it all feeds into each other if you understand the progress if you understand the process you know that the progress is going to come and that you start to realize your potential potential has to move from potential to achievement and that only comes from work you know what I mean like we we’re putting this we we’re putting this guy in position but he has to be motivated to take advantage you don’t have forever I’ve been there I’ve been in that position you don’t have forever my [ __ ] you don’t be grateful that you got these six years you got you had a magnificent opportunity with us you got you didn’t take advantage of it it’s not going to be like that anywhere else like there’s no other game nobody’s calling next you got to be on a totally different time now there has to be more ferociousness there has to be more furiousness there has to be some understanding that you are in an adverse situation where your value drop and people don’t look at you the same as they did three years ago you got to accept that challenge and compete when it come to rebounding whether they’re making the right past we don’t care if you develop your handle you’re not blowing by nobody there’s a difference between having a and having ball control you only need ball control that’s all Michael Jordan needed he a’t need to be shamard he just needed ball control and a little bit of imagination and if you want to get technical anybody can have the Kyrie handle anybody could develop that you just got to want to it’s basically like six dribbling skills all them are turned into different combinations with all those skills intertwined into each other from the killer crossover to what Kenny Anderson did to Bobby Hurley to what shamard does to what skip does all these D it all starts with six basic ball handling skills and you build the combinations then you add your footwork the triple threat the drop St you you got all you do man listen man listen that’s some New York [ __ ] shout out to Kyrie I know where he got that from that’s that crack er [ __ ] that’s how you build but anybody could do it but he doesn’t need that like if you’re a ball player you know how to hoop you don’t need none of that you could do that with the basics when they now when they get tired then you can hit them with the whammy then you can give them that work then you can embarrass him when he’s not energized what you going to come into the first quarter now you trying to do some fly [ __ ] no he got all the energy in the world you wear him down with the Fundamentals by the fourth quarter then you can hit them with the hand and then hit them and splash on them you know what I mean then you can take him to the Baja that’s different the timing of everything is very important ain’t just cuz you got it you don’t need it Kyrie needs to dribble like that he’s 6′ three he’s going there amongst trees so he needs a different he needs those layers off the dribble he needs to hit you with a drop step then spin off of you then cross you over then cross you over again then spin back left and then pull up that’s he need all that he’s shooting over somebody 6’8 but if you’re 6′ five you’re going to get your shot off if you’re 6’6 you’re going to get your shot off 6′ seven all you need is the basics ball control you ain’t got to do all that [ __ ] you look at at PG PG don’t have a l handle PG got ball control that’s all he got that’s all he need he don’t need to have all he got super ball control it’s real smooth but he ain’t got all that extra [ __ ] cuz he don’t need it he’s 6 fo eight he pull up right over you ah hold that you a small guy you got to read the room I think part of the problem is g money hasn’t been reading the room he’s been coming in with these theories and ideas that’ll work and and he didn’t resolve he there was no resolution to the problem there was still chaos it wasn’t as smooth as it should have been on the battlefield for him regardless of what’s everybody going through what every everybody’s individual about it was supposed to be smooth for you with your matchup should have been you ain’t got to be you don’t have athleticism cool footwork angles jump shot got to listen your fundamentals got to be right fundamentals understand start closer to the basket come off the screens shoot off of screens call for the screens you know what I mean little things little things start inside out you’re a shooter you got to build that muscle memory and get in tune with what’s going on in the atmosphere cuz you’re a rhythm shooter the minute the energy is gone and it’s off you ain’t hitting nothing use the backboard learn how to post up little things man use the bag like we still like him but if if they’re talking about dropping the price he gonna have to come back home man he G have to come I know a lot of y’all like but we got young players listen listen if they say 10 thou $10 million a year 11 million and we can get them for that for the low low he G to have he might have to come back over here to revive to re rejuvenate his career and I know a lot of yall like no we don’t need him that’s family that’s family if they drop that price I don’t think Messiah is going to be like yo listen 12 million what you want to do he going to come back give him that chis Buche deal little 36 million come back over here come see come fix it come fix it you can leave in three come fix it come win with us and let’s fix it we still need a bench and we need definitive production he’s going to have to be that or you know but if they going to drop the price you know what I’m saying to something to something significantly lower than what he was asking for and what we were offering we going to see what’s up

Gary Trent Jr is ice cold in Free Agency

  1. him and Caleb Martin lol interesting free agency. NBA greed is crazy. They rather make way less to spite their current team.

  2. #NBAChev I feel bad for GTJr, his contract value is affected by the NBA new contract.. NBA Two way players are preferred…It's hard pyschologically to go from 18.5m to millions less at age 24/25 and see Pascal, OG, FVV, Scottie, IQ got their bag contracts… Stay strong and keep grinding #GTJr #WeTheNorth

  3. What Bothers Me About G-Money Is That He Was Top 4 In Gaurd Defending 3 Years Ago. He Put Forth The Effort When He First Got Here But These Last 3 Years He Lacks Effort…He Lost His Juice

  4. Yep. I couldn't agree more. Gary has played himself. This is a case study in learning how to and when to read the room. So sad.

  5. there's no way he was expecting to get a hunnid after his performance for the last couple seasons. monk didn't even get that as a runner up 6th man

  6. Honestly I’m good on Gary and Chris, most opportunities and it’s still just whatever with both of em

  7. Gary was stealing the ball in 2021 he got lazy and stop doing it probably cuz he didn't win defense player of the year

  8. He should fire his agent. Clearly the man didn't do his job and explain to GTJ about the CBA and the ever changing landscape of the NBA financial structure…..Things are a changing. The rich are gettin' richer, but the "middle class"?? They're being pushed down the pecking order……..

  9. He tried to play the Raptors… but the new CBA… as a role-player 15 mil was the right number. To me, he never really popped as a player who made me think he was something in the NBA. Last year, he seemed to lack that pep.

  10. I liked him for maybe a year….than i saw that his game didn't evolve at all and his defense was overhyped. He's too one dimensional, I'm ready for us to develop someone else

  11. G-Money didn't get most inproved or 6th man of the year, was it 3 years ago? And I believe that broke his desire to be a defensive juggernaut

  12. He's a 10-15M player. Pacers paying Nesmith 11M and Toppin 15M on new contracts and their younger.

  13. Mgmt pulled another FVV moment paying IQ 35M and not wanting to go over 20M for Trent….last time that happened….FVV/Norm and whered the raps end up….covid tank+ 1st round sixer loss and then another tank and maybe this year another tank rather than doing the spurs and gsw way and wait and draft.

They treated trent and norm as 2ndclass raptors for backupPG in FVV and schroder…and raps keep getting worse. We could have had reggie/RIP

  14. This is why I don't trust agents. It's them that becomes too greedy all because they want their big cut of the players contract money.

Good contracts should be usually earned by achievements and accomplishments. Like Barnes getting All-Star or Norman Powell has championship on his resume. GTJ has not earn anything yet.

I know Lou Williams earned 6th man of the year award but his agent got greedy.

  15. he bet on himself and he didn’t dominate with major minutes. we need to offer him 2 year 25 million. he can bet on himself again.

  16. Honestly, not surprised. We knew he had no real value on the trade market, only logical to assume that would extend to free agency.

  17. I don't know what he thought he did to get a raise.. didn't you hear the critics saying you're inconsistent.. that's mean he showed us all he got as players and not looking to get better as players… Congratulations you played yourself

  18. Give him a 1 year 20mil prove it contract. If he’s ass package him and brown and send them to china, if he’s good trade him for a pick

  19. Even Terrence Ross made his money GTjr fucking up da bag for him self he needs to lock in and stop having dreams if Thibbz frfr😶

  20. 20m+ is usually reserved for All Star/All NBA type players and Tobias Harris. Tobias got his contract in Detroit and Philly.
No man named Gary is him. The MLE is an overpay for him. At 9m Maybe?

  21. Mann the Gary in my 2k team is a demon, constantly looking for the open dude, posting up on people, and shooting 54% in the 3💀💀 always a 2 steals too🔥

  22. To your point bring him back on the low low. From what I had read he took gradey under his wing. Now you would hope that he would share his experience with the youth and push them so they don't find themselves in the same spot as him.
