last big free agent on the board got taken off over the weekend Demar de R rozan agreeing uh to join the Sacramento Kings in a signning trade the Bulls finally have waved the white flag and begun a rebuild which we’ll talk about in another podcast but uh we certainly have thought they should have been doing that a long time ago and it functionally happened to them uh they didn’t land on the rebuild the rebuild landed on them but uh that’s neither here nor there it’s for another time but the Bulls um helped and sent d r Roan out there um I’m not sure how good of a fit I mean the headline is amazing they’re playing a California classic Summer League game in the golden one Center on Saturday night he shows up with dearon Fox gets a new announce to the crowd that was a great moment um you’d really get to see that kind of stuff in free agency um I’m not sure about two things here uh McMahon one I’m not sure how good the fit is like for the Kings you know all the options they had to go all in on and I’m not sure what the Spurs are doing basically enabling this trade and taking Harrison Barnes well I’ll get to San Antonio in a second because I actually really like what they did this summer all right and then look I think with the Kings it’s hey it’s just a talent an addition of talent and you know they felt like they needed to to they needed more juice they needed a talent boost and then you kind of figure out the fit later but and the you know the thing about d rozan d rozan is he’s a guy who he’s been a tremendously productive player for a long long time there’s been no drop off I mean this is the guy who is going to be a top 30 scorer uh pretty early all time pretty early uh next season and it the the question is just how much does he raise the ceilings I think he raises floors how much does he raise the ceilings of teams Andre you know that’s always going to be the question obviously Toronto traded him to get the you know centerpiece of the team that won a championship he had W big in San Antonio obviously didn’t win much at all in Chicago um you know he is one of the great clutch scores in the in the league right now well so is dearen fox and they’re they’re not GNA rank one two in clutch scoring I don’t think um and then just he’s a guy who doesn’t space the floor doesn’t need the ball you know I I hear what you’re saying as far as fit but think also when you’re the Sacramento Kings you know Bakers can’t necessarily be choosers and there you know this is not their neighbor over in the in the Bay Area or you know the the Lakers down south a little bit where it’s they had assets they were involved in three or four players and they chose D Roan they could have gone three or four different ways they chose D Roan they they had some assets to do something was it Bird in Hand yeah I would I I would say say that they I mean they they did give up this unprotected future swap which obviously is could be a potential concern down the road but they didn’t trade any first in the deal they still have a bunch of flexibility going forward and look like all all teams are not in equal situations and and all teams are not shooting for the same things right and like let’s just be honest about where the Sacramento Kings are you have dearon Fox you have D sabonis you have a very good team you’re not winning a championship with dearon Fox and Deus sabonis that’s totally fine for me the kings were a disaster for almost 20 years now they’ve had a good team back-to-back years they get Mike Brown extended this summer dearon fox has not extended this summer he’s up for an extension this summer and he could extend again next summer if he doesn’t extend next summer with one year left on his deal you have to then start wondering what is dearen Fox going to do going forward right you get demaro Rosen yes I agree he is not raising their Championship ceiling but if this team now gets back into the top six in the west and makes the playoffs again next year it’s a lot like what Dallas has been doing with LCA donic right if you get dearon Fox signed up going forward again different levels here these guys but for a team that has had no success for a long time I think this gives them a better chance of being a playoff team for the next couple of years which is not an insignificant thing making the playoffs in Sacramento is a massive success this is the franchise that had a playoff drought old enough to drive that they just snapped a couple years ago last year competitive you know got balanced in the play in but if they get back in the playoffs you’re in the playoffs two out of three years your fan base is fired up if they’re a competitive entertaining play play off team that’s a successful season deal below the maximum 3year 162 million that he’s eligible to sign if they’re able to find the right piece but here’s the thing Mark they missed out on Clay they missed out on Harden yonas Valen chunis a player who’s still available though oh hey Demar D rozen so will they go after him or will they stand Pat it’s not a this or that but it rhymes with this or that I heard they’re being lightweight interested but they got to be creative like bring him home get some La you know get Kendrick Lamar’s boy on the team get some get some La vibe in the Lakers sure I mean Talent is Talent it depends again on what goes out the door I mean this is not someone who’s going to add a ton of three-point shooting to your team but he’s a great long two shooter he’s become a good passer like I think people have made the comparison between the Russ transaction and the potential signing of Demar I don’t see that I think dear’s a totally different player a much better fit with the Lakers but again I’ll keep saying it it depends on what talent goes out the door if you can pull a transaction like I see what you did there you’re dropping in a little bit of Kendrick Lamar you know he could go and look at all the all those other teams and the Lakers tell him like hey they not like us they not like us come with us well I mean but how long is LeBron going to say okay they may not be like us I’m going to be okay is he going to go to Vegas and a contract all flying over my head the you were presenting I got it I got even I got it I should have warned it involves the Drake I understand it invol the the Drake it’s the the Bulls have expressed an interest to participate in a sign and trade for Demar Rose but it takes two to make a deal the Lakers were involved in talks to get Clay Thompson and to get that $80 million they were going to offer clay they were going to have to do a deal somewhere so if I were Demar I’d say well you got a deal somewhere make the deal for me the question is would they be willing to make the same deal and that’s you know to Zach’s Point Wendy in the break I’m going to catch you up on every I know time in just a break all right lastly going need more time this Summer’s Olympics it starts in just 25 days us roster is set to meet in Las Vegas in Just 4 days so who better to talk about this than worldwide Wendy who’s going to be in Paris for the games Paris will be filled with basketball tournament in the history of the sport without question and this week we have some awesome games coming up Luca and Giannis are both trying to qualify for the same spot in Greece the Bahamas are trying to make an amazing run to upset the Spanish to try to get in the the Olympic basketball has already begun and that guy’s going to need a great week to to get there and so is Luca
