Why Tyus not coming back is a good move. Is Kispert next on the trade block?
it appears unlikely that tus Jones returns to the Washington Wizards but I’m G tell you why ties not coming back is a good move because the pool party has to get started next on locked on Wizards you are locked on Wizards your daily Washington Wizards podcast part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day what’s up everybody it’s your boy Brandon Scott again and I appreciate you guys making locktown Wizards your first listen every single day we are free and available wherever you get your podcast and on YouTube part of the locked on podcast Network your team every single day and today’s episode is brought to you by FanDuel make every moment more as the playoffs wind down the Sports Stop sporting like we want them to but this summer fand hook it up all customers with a boost or a bonus daily that’s right there’s something for everyone every single day all long so visit fanduel.com to get started all right everyone there’s a report that tus Jones the likelihood of him coming back is nil so what does that mean for the point guard position going forward and Cory kissper is he a trade piece or future piece we’re gonna talk about that so let’s get into it let’s tuck in like the British say all right tus Jones now this is a report from Evan cidy is Insider with ESPN I and quotequote says tus Jones the top available free agent point guard is highly unlikely to return to the Wizards Washington is working through sign and trade possibilities as they will now prioritize Jordan p and Bob Carrington in their back court a resolution could be reached this week so what what do that tell you there’s a lot to unfold with that report number one unlikely to come back well we kind of knew that the writing was on the wall number one Jordan pool you know if you look at we were number one in Pace in the second half of last season the fact that Jordan p is best with the in his hands we knew what a back court of tus Jones and Jordan P could produce which is really bad results both from an undersized as far as the point guard and working in tement each other it was an undersized back court where defense was at a minimum right so they didn’t work and kind of led to you know uh Jordan P being relegated to six man row and then when Tai Jones got hurt you saw what Jordan P can do at the point guard position with the ball in his hands now obviously there’s um room for improvement but we’re going to talk about that in a minute but that Rings true because we knew that this team wanted to move they wanted to push Pace they wanted to up the tempo and I think that they’re gonna be able to do that this season you know if you look at Jordan p and the fact that he’s going to push Pace he’s going to roll transition he’s going to attack the basket he’s going to collapse the defense he’s going to utilize outside Shooters man whether it’s Cory kissr K kosman let’s go on um so this defense are this not on defense but this offense is going to get a lot faster the tempo is going to be a lot smoother they’re going to attack a lot of teams in transition man you look at the fact that alexar at 71 very nibbled on his feet the guy who can roll in transition Kyle kman we know he can roll in transition Kali athletic in Rolling transition so the list goes on man you know this this team wants to get faster and I think that you know tyus Jones look if this team wasn’t rebuilding I would love ties to be here because especially he’s a backup point guard now he wants starter money and he wants to be a starter now again just like the stock market the NBA Market is telling you something right it’s tell you that look most teams may not see that for him the fact that he’s still unsigned and has not signed one another team as a starting point guard tells you that other teams may not look at him as being a starting point guard now obviously looking back at his time not only here with the Wizards this one year with us but going back to his time with Memphis Grizzlies there you know when when John Morant went down he came in and he started in he did a good job is he gonna be your long-term point guard starting point guard no is he a guy that best fit as a backup point guard who if need be can start absolutely and I think that because of that he doesn’t fit the timeline he doesn’t fit with with his what the Wizards are trying to do I think all arrows are pointing and is my opinion that the wasi Wizards should roll with Jordan p as a starting point guard at least for the season you know obviously there there’s there need you know there’s work that needs to be done with Jordan P right um we know he’s a Score first guard he’s a guy that needs a ball in his hands to be effective now he does have Vision You’ seen glimpses of of his vision the second half of the Season you saw glimpses of of his vision at Golden State he’s a guy who’s going to find Outside Shooters he’s a guy who’s going to definitely hook people up he’s a guy with great vision but the biggest thing with Jordan p is what turnovers turnovers turnovers you know he’s got to get better with ball security you know if he wants to be the point guard of the future JP 13 has to really work on the turnovers and work on try not to do too much you know it’s different you know you last year especially in the first half you know he was a shooting guard where you know they were expecting him to move without the ball but you know being the point guard going forward man he’s got to find ways to kind of curb you know a lot of his you know things he did wrong you know what did he do wrong you know not utilizing the shot clock you know shooting three-point shots in transition not utilizing the shot clock you know um shooting low percentage shots he definitely has to shoot a lot more high percentage shots work on his efficiency definitely wanted his first option to be getting other people involved as opposed to scoring every time but you know we we saw a scoring point guard who had great vision in John Wall and I think that you know I’m not that I’m comparing him to John Wall but I think that you know I mean you can to a certain degree because point guard or John Wall was another point guard who could push the pace John Wall made money in transition attacking the basket I mean he’s the big reason why uto Porter and Bradley Bill got paid because his ability to attack the basket with his speed using that fast first step to attack defenses man and then flip the ball out for a porter to Bradley Bill the list goes on so I see that with Jordan Bull and I see that more so than John Wall because look let’s be honest here Jordan P’s shots better than John Walls now that was the only knock against John Wall which was you know his mid-range and his three-point shot just wasn’t where you wanted to be on a consistent basis and if you look at Jordan P three-point shot ain’t a problem now you know at times again does he shoot low percentage shots yeah absolutely does he Rush a shot yes does he you know shoot a lot of in transition shots yes but I think that Brian Keef and compan are going to work with him on that because look Jordan P look I’m G tell you straight up he’s gonna have a chip on the shoulder he’s gonna coming into the season with some fire he’s gonna have a chip on the shoulder man you now you’re gonna see a guy who’s gonna be locked in and ready to contribute and really put his stamp on this team you know we you know obviously we talk a lot about bow and alexar being that onew punch that that young tanm to build around for the future and and for good reason because they are they’re the future you know alexar and Below Kali are Foundation here there the future but Jordan p is a very intriguing piece because I think he’s going to come into this season with some fire he’s going to be locked in he’s going to be focused and I’m saying right now you’re gonna see great production out of the point guard position with Jordan P so getting back to tyus Jones man because I kind of rambled about my man JP 13 tyus Jones again if this was not a rebuilding team I would love him here but you know the fact of the matter is he doesn’t fit the timeline anymore you know the priority goes to buob Carrington’s which is goes to the second point of of the statement which is they’re looking to prioritize Jordan paol and bu carington in their back court now saying that now buob Kon in my opinion if if you look at his scouting important tell of the tape his shot man his ability to shoot the ball you know 65 he’s a guy that obviously you want to see him attack the basket a lot more defensively you definitely want to see him put a lot of energy on the defensive side of the ball but he very well could be the next point guard of the future and and right now the Wizards are prioritized development and minutes to Jordan p and B caring and for good reason because they’re the future now Jordan P you know is at his age does he fit the timeline now no yeah last year he did to a certain degree but now with the with the trade of diavia knowing that Will Dawkins is gonna put his stamp on his front office and he’s GNA move as many pieces as he has to to get draft assets back draft Capital back because again is the OKC model the Oklahoma City Thunder model you know if you bring on contracts it’s gonna be if you bring on veteran contracts is because you’re going to flip them at some point if you bring you know if you bring on bad contracts is because you’re going it becomes because it comes with a first round pick so that’s the OKC model you know Sam prey made his money off of a accumulating young Talent draft picks by what carrying on bad contracts and picking on you know veteran contracts and then eventually flipping them so if you look at Jordan P it’s becoming saying this as you guys know I’m a big Jordan pool fan um yes he got his smoke last year with his struggles in the first half but you know very impressed with not only his body work on the court but his mental game to take criticism to take so much smoke from almost every if not every sports athlete in the country and he came in he worked his tail off he took his demotion as six man and he so look I see him as a future piece now it you know it differs you know and obviously you see with the again with the Denny trade look is becoming more and more likely that it’s the B Kali and Alex Aro so you know I it’s shifting more and more to Jordan P you know the the Wizards and Jordan P himself bringing his trade value up and eventually getting moved at some point because I think that you know with him I think he’s gonna come in the season on fire man so getting back to tus Jones just doesn’t fit anymore and like I said thank you for your service I think that I definitely want to see him you know definitely be successful somewhere else but I think that right now Jordan p is the an at point guard and Bob carington is the longterm answer at point guard and I think that even if you had you know Jared Butler on the second unit Malcolm brogon just just not space here for him and so you know is the door completely closed I’m G say no there’s still a chance they can bring him back but you know you know I’m looking at this report I’m willing to kind of go with this report I think that the ship is sale I think he’s on his way out I think priority is and should to go to Jordan p and Bob caring te so Cory kissper is he a trade piece or is he a future piece because everybody needs a shooter we’re GNA talk about that but before we do tonight’s episode is brought to you by better help so as you guys know I am a big Catalyst of talking to a therapist talking to somebody else um therapy right taboo for a opinions and news streaming 24/7 on YouTube or the free Amazon Fire TV channels app part of the locked on podcast Network your team every single day all right let’s get into Cory kiss now obviously as you know Cory kiss is an aspiring contract he is in a contract year he is in year four of his rookie deal so the Wizards have right now the time’s ticking and they are on the clock to sign him to an extension so the question is is Corey kissper a future piece in DC or if you looking at the market in moves like the diavia trade is he GNA be a trade commodity now before the didn’t he trade I would have told you easily he was gonna be a future piece look at his age just fit the timeline the fact that he was drafted here developed here you know we don’t sign many guys to to a second contract auto porter and Denny AIA is it so and now Denny’s moved that tells you a little bit of what they’re trying to do and what they’re trying to do is by moving Denny Avia two things number one he’s putting a stamp on his front office saying you know this is my front office now you know he’s you know Tommy you know Denny AIA was a Tommy Shepard draft pick so we knew that you know looking at Denny looking at Cory kisper looking at Johnny Davis Ru was already moov by Tommy um that the Loyalty The amount of rope given to him was gonna be very minimal man because he want you know and every look here’s the thing it’s not just wogs every general manager does whether it’s in basketball whether it’s in Major League Baseball whether it’s in NFL um NHL you know new GMS come in and they they prioritize their own guys you know yes was it hard to see Denny walk away yeah absolutely man anybody you know there’s obviously people that didn’t like Danny and there’s obviously people that had no problem with it and I don’t have a problem with the the trait per se um and I made this known I’m I’m not gonna kick a dead Horseman but um it’s just the the sequence of it you know him being moved before veterans but I understand the move but I think it is an indication of what will Dawkin is trying to do going forward which is he’s going to Prior his guys which is Bel Kali Alex H Bob Carrington uh kaon George you know they they are the priority as far as development and so you know looking at Cory kissper I think he’s gonna be a trade Canon I think his name has been linked to um trade [ __ ] I think he’s gonna be moved now when is he moved I don’t see him being moved before the season now he very welome because he very well could be now what is the fif for cour Kiser looking at a dep chart looking at a potential rotation he’s he’s probably going to start out on the second unit now obviously it’s subject to what Brian Keefe and will Dawkin really wants to do because but I I’m pretty sure that he’s gonna start out on the second unit nothing against Cory kissper but you know looking at him bow I mean because think about all right Jordan P’s gonna definitely start a point guard um malcol brog is gonna be six-man and and really you know that’s calls for not concern but you know how do you de up the minutes in the second unit in a point guard position um and who plays two guard between Malcolm Brock and Jared Butler you know you know what I’m saying and then you still have Bob Carrington so but looking at Cory kisper you know obviously he could probably start at the three in the second unit because you look at that Patrick Balwin Jr starting the power forward position of second unit and ran Holmes would be the center so you know kissper if they move on from him it would be at the deadline in my opinion because obviously he’s going to be an expiring deal and if they don’t resign him to a long-term deal obviously that lets you know he’s going to be a tradeable commodity now if they trade if they sign him to a long-term deal I would not be upset because he is that he could be that sniper that we need a guy who can not only slash the basket but he’s going to drive to the basket High basketball IQ a guy who’s starting to put the ball on the floor and become a creator for others um so just kind of like Denny um he has gotten better every year so I think that the next couple weeks are going to tell you truly what the vision is of the front office for Corey kisper you know is he gonna be a trade piece or is he gonna be a long-term piece because the thing is if they sign him then that kind of tells you look obviously he’s a long-term piece but me I’m I’m looking at the market I’m looking at moves made you know if you move Denny then chances are you’re probably gonna move kisper because you know Denny in itself you don’t move a 23 year old that you develop you know you saw him break out and you trade him so and then but again they made that move and why because Will Dawkins look putting a stamp in his front office he’s gonna prioritize his own guys and he got max value out of den Avia he got us two first round picks so we’ll see if he’s able to get that for Kyle kusma but I think that he definitely got good value for Den AIA and Bub Carrington is in the future a point guard so looking at Cory kissper um I’m I’m actually leaning towards him being a trade piece honestly um I now it’s not to say that they won’t resign him but like I said looking at the moves and if you move Denny chances are you probably gonna move kissper so let’s pull up kissper um his stats real quick because like I said he has been that guy that sniper than we need and he’s gotten better every year so three years Ian his first year his rookie year was 2021 to 2021 our 22 season where he played 77 games and started 36 year two played 74 games started 45 and then this previous season 80 Games Starting 22 so predominately a second unit Guy where depending on the matchup he can start but is really dependent on game planning and matchups right um or injuries that is um but look at that other stats points per game went from 8 to 11 13 um look at other stats like three-point percentage now 34 percentage did actually go down slightly this past season because it went from 35% to 42% to 38% but look he’s a sniper you know he’s averaging around well above League average in my opinion and then uh phield gold percentage 45 49 and then slightly to 48 decreased slightly the past season so he’s a consistent offensive threat now defensively this past season um he had he didn’t get a lot of kudos for the effort on defensive end now was he a lock down guy nah he was far from it but he’s a guy that showed a lot more energy on def on the defensive side of the ball man so you know like I said I’m I’m leaning towards him being a trade candidate I put the poll out there and I know a lot of you guys see him as a guy who should be signed to an extension and I agree now I’m definitely part of the crowd that thinks look if you can sign him to a Team friendly deal kind of in mode of Denny AIA and they very well could take the same route as Den AIA they can still Reign him to a Team friendly deal and then turn around and flip him because that that definitely adds to the trade value so but I think he’s the trade paks man and it’s n against Cory because I’m a big Cory kisser fan it’s fun seeing him go from Gaga three years in DC you know he’s been a really good player here uh that SN again that sniper that guy who very active on the offensive end a guy who was starting to get other people involved I mean if you look at his assist numbers it went from 1.1 assist to 1. two assist to two assists per games this previous season so he was a guy that would again was trying to get other people involved now but again I think they’re going to go the den out with Cory kisper going to reassign him to a Team friendly deal and they’re going to move on from him because again what Dawkins is going to prioritize his own guys and and that’s firmly what I think he’s gonna do you know he yeah he he could definitely resy him to an extension kind of like Den AIA but I think he’s gonna turn around flip him you know the deadline now is he maybe he’ll change the season with improved performance but again nothing against kissper man but is he a guy that you go out and trade him by himself and try to get assets probably not you’re probably gonna you know definitely you know pair him with another player in in a deal and looking at the veterans on the on the roster that we could potentially move in the future in Jordan pool Kyle kma Shan Holmes Jonas valunas he very well could be part of one of their moves man so a lot of capabilities a lot of options for will daers man because again he is following the Oklahoma City Thunder model which is accumulating young Talent accumulating draft picks and flipping veterans at the deadline and taking on bad contracts for picks so um Cory K like I said thank you for your service but I think that the route they’re going to take is they’re going to resign him to a team Philly deal kind like Denny and they’re going to flip him and and I think that may not be a bet I think it could be a win-win for everybody like I said I do want to see Cory kissper in a Wizards uniform but I like to see him get kind of a larger role in another team kind of like you know if you look at Denny and Portland got a larger role you know I think he fits well next to Shaden sharp scoot Henderson you know you got Jeremy Grant the four you got DeAndre Aiden at the five and then you got Don McLean so that he he you know he’s definitely needed in Portland at the small forward position looking at kitur I think that would with a expanded role I like to see what he can do on another team man but like I said I would love to see him in the Wizard uniform but I think that look Will Dawkins is prioritized his own guys and he’s shown that with Den Avia you know you very well you know the the jury’s out on Johnny Davis he very well could not be a wizard within the next two three weeks in my opinion you know you very well could see them decline his option you know because right now he is prioritizing his guys which is blal which which is Alex SAR which is Kon George which is bub Carrington and Tristan vich those five guys are the the foundation the the the first steps of this young team man so and like I said the fact that these three draft picks were all were all drafted in their teenss tells you where we’re at in the rebuild very early on in the rebuild so um I think that Cory kpr is a treade candidate now could he be a future piece yeah but like I said looking at the Denny trade looking at what the is for Will Dawkins I think that Cory kissper at some point whether it’s before the season whether it’s at the deadline I think he will be moved and I think he will be moved being attached to a veteran whether it’s y Jonas valunas whether it’s ran Holmes whether it’s kusma or Jordan P um so we’re going to look at uh again I’m going to go over um the summer league real quick um and then we’re going to robe but before we do tonight’s episode is brought to you by FanDuel so I love sports I love them so much I never want them to stop but as the playoffs wind down get fewer games and the sports aren’t sportsing like I want them to but FanDuel let me keep the sports going whenever I want all I have to do is open the app and dream up bets anytime I’m in the mood y’all and this summer FanDuel was hooking up all customers with a boost or a bonus daily that’s right there’s something for everyone every single day all summer long so head over to fanduel.com and start making the most out of your summer FanDuel the official sports betting partner of Major League Baseball all right everybody again I’m looking at Summer League real quick uh the summer league roster has not dropped I thought it did in the previous episode man I had my little Shack in the F but it has not dropped but um there four right now it’s just four guys in the roster obviously it is alexar Bob Carrington and Kon George and I have to bring up the other gentleman there’s another Gentleman on the list um but I would I would definitely definitely assume that Tristan vous vich is going to be on a summer league roster so the question is concerning Tristan vich real quick is um is it a good move that they start him with Capital City goo and I’mma say yes I think that is a really good move for the Wizards because again if you look at what the situation is is at the center position now Alexa wants to play the four could he still play the five yet at 71220 but right now he is looking at possibly being the power forward of the future and so that’s you know that definitely switches K kman to the wing at at the um small forward and that’s really good situation maybe because I think K kman is gonna have a career season I think he’s going to eat on the wing man I think he’s going to have a career season as far as points per game in my opinion man and if he can definitely work on his efficiency issues and find ways to get other people better then I think that he’s going to have a career season man in my opinion and you’re gonna see the guys around him definitely get better so um we all know what you know he can do um but getting back to trist vich well before we do we all know Kyle kman can do right which is he could score but efficiency find ways to get other people better is definitely what he’s looking at um but looking at Tristan vich looking at the center position you know alexr power forward ran Holmes is going to be the backup center and Y dunz is going to be your starter so he is very minimal he’s going to get very you know very many minutes anyway so definitely give him starting minut with a go go get his confidence up develop him the right way take your time and develop him and I think that he very well could be either the center in the future or part of the center rotation of the future whether it’s you know the starter or the backup but I think he’s definitely a part of the future and I think they’re going to take their time with him because yes I love his performance in the second half of the last season I think he came in he played well especially against teams like the Los Angeles Lakers put up a good performance against him he’s a guy who showed relatively quickly that his offensive game is very polished now defensively you see REM protector potential but lateral movement was slow and definitely something need need to work on because guards were starting to attack him in the second half of last season and catch him off guard because you know his lateral movement on defense needs work but I think it’s a really good deal that they start Tristan vich with the cap cap sigo as opposed to trying to hustle the five minutes with him at the center rotation because again ran Holmes is the backup right now and your starter is Jonas van chunis so um I’m gon say yeah you guys comment below let me know what you guys are thinking I I think that starting Tristan vich with this Capal cogo and you know playing sparingly with the Wizards is a good move not only for the wizards but for the long-term projection of Tristan vich so again guys um reiterate Friday is the first Summer League game so we will be doing a live recap after that game but it gets better y’all because tomorrow night we have state of the Wizards our co-hosts whiz takes and DC hop on the show and we’re going to talk about KY kumma and the asking price is it too high and on Thursday we are going to do the um will doin recap the offseason recap and we’re going to grade free agent draft and trade you know so we’re going do a recap of the offseason obviously there you know future moves could happen but I think the brunt of free agency is done so we’re going to look at that and Friday man oh I already told you Friday so again Friday we will be doing a recap of the Wizards versus Atlanta Hawks Summer League game so we’re gonna go ahead and call it there uh lot to talk about tonight man um Tyas Jones you know it looks like he’s on his way out so Jordan p is the guy looks like the pool party has commenced in the nation’s cap and Cory kisser is he a trade piece or is he a future piece you guys let me know in the comments section and how’s how excited are you guys for some of leag because I am so again comment below let me know what you guys are thinking hell to the Wizards and peace see you guys tomorrow night

They trade kispert we riot
Kispert doesn't fit the timeline just like deni. will they get enough assets for him is another question.
Keyshawn not Kaishawn
We need to keep Kispert, he’s our only real 3pt threat outside of KUZ and JP; he moves well without the ball…though he’s a liability on defense, he’s a key piece to our offense!!!
y can’t we do a sign and trade with tyus jones for lonzo ball that would be a good fit @lockedonwizards
kispert has no reason to be traded..he def fits the timline in this rebuild..he is crazy young and a sharpshooter. KEEP HIM
If Johnny Davis makes this roster for next season, I’m trading my rabbits foot for a Johnny Davis uniform. He must have good luck!!!
Now I'm going to say this how many former wizards players have to win a championship with another team before this new wizards brass stops that shit from happening because are fan base is tired of giving up on solid players like Corey
Hey lock on wizards should trade Brandon! How about for mike breen bang!!!!!
If you get him on a Deni/Kuz declining deal, I'd consider keeping. If not, and get a 2025 or 2026 first for Kispert, and not have to take a distressed asset back, tip the Uber driver to the airport well.
Rebuild is going at a breakspeed pace. Hopefully in 2 years we will be back in the playoffs.
What I really want to know is if Carlton "Bub" Carrington can do the Carlton dance.
Rosters are full on a lot of teams. Don't see a team giving anything of value for Kispert. So he stays, but trade deadline might be different.
No keispert is a guard with size and shooting
Just trade kuzma and davis and keep kispert
Sign and trade Tyus Jones to San Antonio. Wizards get Julian Champagnie and Jordan Clarkson from Utah Jazz. Corey Kispert is a keeper who will start next season.
Brandon, you had a episode around trade deadline about Tyus Jones to the Magic that I think if worth a revisit. I think a sign and trade with them makes a lot of sense with how the Magic are financially atm and that they are looking to compete now. They are a defensive first team that can compensate Jones' lack of solid d and height AND they kinda need a PG with Suggs.
The new Wizards. About time.
