[Adrian Wojnarowski] Free agent G Bryce McGowens has agreed on a two-way deal with the Portland Trail Blazers, Kyle McAlarney and Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tell ESPN. McGowens, 21, spent his first two seasons with Charlotte.

Hoping this is the precursor to a trade…. If not, why the hell wouldn’t we wait for summer league to shake out and see if we could scoop up a diamond in the rough?

He dropped 29 and 20 in charlottes 2 summer league games so far. Seems they liked what they saw.
I want to see him and Banton on the floor together, 6’7″ and 6’8″ guards with long wingspans. Neither can shoot well from outside though so the spacing would likely be terrible but still lol
I like this pickup though. Still young, solid size and length (skinny though). Got to watch him some when he was a Husker. Like I said, outside shooting is bad but he’s got a solid bag to work with to score elsewhere. His height and length comes in handy to finish over defenders. Defense needs work though, not consistent on that end and even when he is I’d say he’s below average.
But still young and has room to grow. Hopefully in a low pressure situation like this and knowing he’s on a 2-way contract and not drafted by us he can just focus on getting better and working on his game. Should get a lot of reps with the Remix and occasionally with us if injuries happen or the usual tanking toward the end of the season.

Honestly unironically love this move. Feel like this is an upside swing. Sure, he may only end up as a fringe rotation guy, but a good swing. Plus 2 oversized Nebraska guards who can’t shoot is pretty cool

I’ve watched him in Charlotte for 2 years now. Tbh he’s pretty terrible but he’s definitely worth a 2 way. I’d say he has an outside chance of becoming an OK bench guy. He is able to attack the rim and that’s kinda it, mostly bad at everything else
