MAJOR Patrick Williams Injury News + Bulls News, Rumors & Highlights After Summer League Debut

yo what’s going on everybody welcome into the Bulls report my name is Patrick seatman and coming up on today’s show I want to get you guys the latest injury news around Patrick Williams as it is looking like he will be fully ready to go for training camp when that gets underway here shortly and then the Bulls they took on the Bucks yesterday in their first Summer League game so I kind want to give you guys My overall reactions to everybody on the squad but more specifically Modis buellis what I thought about him and also Julian Phillips looked very good to me so be giving you my thoughts on that on the second half of today’s show but we’re going to start it off with some Patrick Williams uh injury news so make sure you guys are subscribed uh here to the channel as we’re closing in on 9,000 subscribers which is absolutely awesome you know do it for one of my uh favorite Bulls players of all time L all dang so hit that subscribe button if you guys haven’t already but let’s break down the injury news so this was coming in from Casey Johnson um and Patrick Williams was Courtside for the summer league game yesterday and when he was asked about if he would be ready to go for training camp he said for sure he also said running and jumping with no pain and his bone is fully healed and obviously when casy asked him if he’ll be ready for training camp he said for sure no doubt about it also I do want to get you guys this quick quote um on Patrick Williams on demard Rosen and that relationship he said that’s a relationship that goes beyond basketball and you know that was the one thought I had when Demar did Lee for the Kings I’m like I bet you the younger guys on this team like Kobe white IO and Williams like they looked at dear as like an older brother in that locker room and you know obviously having him not there I think you know obviously is a negative like I think you know dear’s impact will be more felt you know off the court than on the court this upcoming year is just you know missing that veteran presence in that locker room like it’s obviously going to play an impact but you know on the Patrick Williams front he’s ready to go I think this is great news um obviously him signing that 5year $90 million deal this offseason a lot of people said it was too much money and you know I understand that but you know I think the Bulls are you know they’re gambling a little bit with this contract like obviously the way Patrick Williams has played since he’s been drafted he’s not worth $18 million a year but you know his archetype of being that three and D wing on the perimeter can knock down the open shot in the flow of the offense and then also you know be that Elite Wing Defender who can guard you know realistically four positions on offense probably just besides Center I would feel comfortable with patch going Guardian all of those and you know I think with what we’re seeing in the NBA is like those types of players are and those types of contracts are so valuable because like let’s just say you know best case scenario here like with the Patrick Williams deal five years $90 million let’s just say in years three four and five of that Patrick Williams is a guy who averaging 15 16 points a game 50% from the field 40% from downtown and playing Elite defense and he turns himself into the one of the better role players in the NBA plus you combine that with the salary cap going up the tax level the first second apron all that will just naturally grow following this new TV deal the Bulls are gambling that this will be one of the more team-friendly contracts in a couple of years so you know I’m a Believer in Patrick Williams and hearing he is healthy fully ready to go in the training camp that is great news so shout out to P dub it seems like you know the recovery is going you know all smoothly and you know specifically on Patrick Williams since he was courtside at the game yesterday he had this sweet quote about modest buis as when asked Patrick Williams for his early impressions of buellis I think this was at halftime of the game this is what Casey Johnson said that uh Williams said to him he said what can’t he do he’s young but he can shoot the ball change direction can guard one through five he’s a dog talking trash already I love what I’m seeing and you know I’m I’m very optimistic about this Wing forward Duo that the Bulls have right now of Williams and buellis hopefully you know Modis can be that more you know playmaking offensive minded forward and then Patrick Williams would be that defensive anchor you know out in the perimeter who’s going to be elite shooter Elite at the mid-range pullup jump shot like a lot of this is projecting because you know as they stand right now are they anywhere near being you know good starters on championship team obviously no but with Maus being 19 Patrick Williams being 22 years old who says in three years when Williams is 25 and Modis is 22 we’re not talking about them as one of the best young Wing Duos in the NBA obviously this is an extreme example but look at the Boston Celtics they have built their franchise and built their kind of run they’re going on over the next couple years around those two wings of Jaylen Brown and Jason Tatum but I will ask you guys one question is you know I think Patrick Williams is a polarizing player amongst Bulls fans but you guys let me know I’ll make this the pin comment do you believe in Patrick Williams just type why for yes or type n for no and explain your thoughts down in the comments section but let’s dive into the Bulls Summer League game here as uh it was a ton of fun to watch like I’m not going to lie felt great watching Bulls basketball again as uh you know beating the Milwaukee Bucks is always a uh always a good thing for me but get you guys some stats from the game first and I’ll give you guys my thoughts um start off with the first round pick Maus buis wasn’t an efficient night or efficient day for him he shot four 15 seven of 11 from the free throw line 0 for four from three I think he air balled two of them so the three-point shot wasn’t there for buellis but I love the way he was getting to the rim he was the second leading scorer on the team behind Julian Phillips who will show some love to as well but 15 points seven rebounds two offensive got to the free throw line showed confidence I liked his handle as well and also this I kind of said this before the pre-draft process that I think buellis was going to come in and be a plus Defender from day one he had two blocks yesterday and one block specifically um a guard beat him coming around the corner at the elbow area he was was trying to get to like an extended layup with his left hand balus comes out of nowhere looked like LeBron back in the day um when he was pinning people off the glass so that was great to see and you know buellis I couple of notes I had were this will be a process um he is clearly very raw like he is not going to come into the league and be an efficient basketball player right away maybe he proves me wrong and I would absolutely love that out of him but I think this is going to be a process but from what I’ve seen like his skill set is an NBA skill set and I think a lot of people are you know they view these g-league ignite prospects as this aou style of Hooper and I understand that I view a lot of those guys the same way but I think buellis is so special is because you know he has that AA feel to him where he’s that you know super aely can take you one-on-one which has a lot to do with NBA you know skill set but also he plays at his own pace he never seems like he’s sped up by the speed of the game which is something I love I’ve used a comparison of fron Vagner to him who fron just signed a you know a fiveyear rookie Max extension with Orlando hopefully you know buzas can develop into the same where they’re plus Defenders and it’s really just going to come down to them you know developing that three-point shot if they’re going to be a good NBA player compared to a great NBA player but another note I had needed to develop the three ball but that will come I like his jump shot he gets to the same release point every single time so I’m not really too concerned about that and also I loved him attacking the the rim I mean he shot 11 free throws yesterday however I will say I thought the refs were a little uh zealous with the whistle they were uh they were blowing it a lot during that game and it’s a summer league game I kind of just wish they let him play a little bit but hey I liked him getting down to the or getting to the rim putting some pressure on there thought it was just an overall really good debut and the thing I loved the most about um his debut was actually his postgame press conference he said I was sloppy he said he needs to keep on developing his game so clearly not satisfied but I did like the last part he said hey we got to win so who really cares and he’s been very adamant that like all that matters is winning I love to hear that you know especially from a guy you just took in the first round but let’s shift here the Julian Phillips so Julian Phillips second round pick um last season out of Tennessee he was great yesterday um 17 points his plus minus was a plus 13 hit the glass really hard had 10 rebounds five of 11 from the field knocked down one of his three three-point attempts and he was six of nine from the free throw line so he was able to get to the rim love to see that out of him and uh you know when you’re watching Phillips like you can feel his athleticism when you’re watching you know the Bulls play even in a summer league game like it’s clear he’s the best best athlete on the uh floor and you know Julian like it’s tough coming up with like a ceiling comparison for him because he is so raw his game like is he going to be a pull-up jump shooter coming off those pick and rolles or is he just going to be a total you know Rim pressuring Wing like he really has Unlimited then just untap potential to his game which is Extreme positive and you know just seeing him playing these Summer League games he’s you know fighting on defense which I love to see and you know that’s why it just always gets me back to the Bulls right now it’s like you actually have a lot of good young players like I think Julian Phillips is a good young player I think Modis buellis Patrick Williams Josh giddy you know even like the older like guys like Jaylen Smith Kobe iio those guys were all 24 years old just move off Zack ofen move off Nicole vuvi and let these guys develop because I would love for Julian Phillips to be that Wing Off the Bench this upcoming season get 15 20 minutes a game really let him develop at the young age of 20 years old that would be fantastic but you know obviously if you don’t move LaVine you don’t move V it’s just going to be more tough for these guys to get consistent minutes so I like what I saw from him all positive stuff there couple guys off the bench that played good uh smart had three three-pointers two of them coming in the third 17 points so good for him but how about Adamas noo hitting hitting the glass hard yesterday seven offensive rebounds 12 rebounds total had three Steals and 17 points soogo is one of those guys he plays hard I just don’t know what his role is going to be in the NBA maybe he could try to develop into like an Andre Drummond type of player that would be sick but again it’s just so tough with those like traditional Bigs like projecting where they’re going to be in the league but overall I thought it was a good Summer League game for the Bulls um you know fun to watch fun team to watch they play fast they play hard hard um I actually thought Billy Donovan uh his kid the coach did a pretty good job just you know the rotations were pretty fluid played the young guys a lot got them a lot of easy looks so I thought actually he did a good job and hey tonight Bulls Warriors at 900 p.m so a little late night tip but you know just want to give you guys my reaction and the update around Patrick Williams here
