Hubbarth:”[Klay] texted [Podz] when he made the decision & actually called him this weekend & they just talked about life. Called [Klay] a great mentor…there are things you learn from him that you can’t just Google…Klay told him he’ll always be in his corner & he could reach out to him anytime.”

    classy move on Klay.
probably didn’t want Podz to feel like at all/partially responsible for being the reason Klay left (losing the starting spot)

Last game Kuminga said something similar in his sideline interview. Said Klay was a big mentor for him and he will continue to call him and consult him.

Podz is really the biggest reason why Klay left. Dude pushed Klay to the bench and he is Kerr’s golden boy.

Klay’s a good dude. Sucks seeing th big 3 not spend their careers together but I think it’ll be best for both sides over the next couple years. Last few playoffs have been rough for Klay and I think with the pressure from himself and everyone else was too much on top of dealing with not being an elite two way player anymore.

Klay will probably come back in three years and take a role off the to finish his career in GS. That’s my take.
