Sam Morril Torches the Oklahoma City Thunder After Caruso Trade | The Dan Le Batard Show w/ Stugotz

you can praise the move as aggressive you can’t dispute that this management team has fixed what ailed the Knicks but OKC managed to get Caruso without giving up a pick and they’ve got a ton of picks too the Knicks have still five first round picks they still have five of them they had a ton what are you smiling about Sam yeah OKC has a ton of picks you know what they remind me of is that guy who saves his money their entire life and then just dies with like $40 million and you’re like okay hope that was I hope that was fun never spending it like what are you g to do with 27 first round picks OKC’s got a hell of a team but at some point you got to go all in I give them credit it’s an impressive trade for Caruso I would have Lov Caruso in New York he’s he’s another uh tough player at some point you got to go all in and I don’t know if they ever do I think they’re like they’re like pick Hoarders

  1. These assets have an expiration date. No decent free agents come to OKC so all players come through trade and draft. A million first round picks solves both of those

  2. It’s funny coming from a Knick fan whose franchise has been abysmal, at least OKC went to a final in the last 10 years.

  3. Why do we tolerate Stugotz? Anyway, that guy who was saving his money, went out and got him a Hartenstein!!!!!! Bing Bong!!!!

  4. OKC having a ton of draft picks reminds me of "the Process" in Philly. They had a ton of decent draft picks piled up after landing Joel Embiid, and they used most of them drafting players they didn't keep, and trading the others for what amounts to Kelly Ubre Jr (fa), overpaid Tobias Harris, and Buddy Hield. I swear the only successful 76ers draft pick still on the roster from after Embiid is, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul Reed.
So yeah, it isn't all about the number of draft picks, it is more about if the Thunder can keep landing players that develop into something.

  5. People need to understand that Presti can simply trade the picks he can’t use (i.e. having 5 2025 1st rounders) because the roster is already loaded and full. Presti simply can’t draft 5 first rounders next year and add them to the roster. The solution, instead of landing a huge trade for a superstar, is to trade the picks next year for valuable 1st rounders in the early 2030’s or 2029.. it’s not rocket science. You just keep trading the 1st rounders to the future until you need to cash in on them or a superstar once the big three they have is too old or one leaves. 🀯

  6. This is why I can’t stand Knicks fans haven’t won shit in 50+ years, won a 1st round series lost in the 2nd round talk shit like they won the eastern conference finals! GTFOH

  7. Let me explain the draft picks for you helmet wearers. OKC has the ability to package a ton of picks for an all star at any given season. Having those picks also give you the ability to continue to cycle out your role players with young first round picks. You could also go the opposite route and draft the older player that’s more NBA ready, thus keeping your salary below the apron. You can also use picks to trade back to later year picks. OKC literally has the ability to pivot in any direction needed. While yall are playing checkers, Sam Presti is playing chess. He’s one of, if not THE best gm in the NBA.

  8. This dude sounds like he doesn't know what he's talking about. Why would you give up your first round picks? If you don't have to you're an idiot. Or you're just bitter

  9. At some point, gotta go all in sure you say. Sure, but we went to the second round and gave the mavs the best match-up in the western conference before mavs getting destroyed by boston. So i see the point, but it does not make sense to do so, Okc will continue to get way better with the same core. They were the 1st seed last year, and even if they dont keep that seeding next year, they will be more ready for the playoffs next year, so the dude is just mad, bro.
