Charlotte Hornet fans should be more optimistic about where things stand right now than any other point we’ve seen in the history of this organization culture is a word that gets thrown around it gets thrown around Loosely anytime a coach is hired oh we’re going to change the culture talk is cheap though how do you see culture changing in real time other than the obvious when you start winning basketball games when you start getting back to the postseason with regularity well you can see some of the foundation being set before you get those obvious tangible results and it looks like we’re seeing that Foundation get built in Charlotte right now in a way we haven’t seen before the root of the Charlotte Hornets new culture is urgency that is the primary attribute of what the Charlotte Hornets are now they are an organization of urgency we’ve already seen it in summer league all gas no breaks 3 and0 in the California classic then they beat the Knicks in Vegas summer league Tan Salon their top 10 pick from France 18 years old made his Hornets debut and the thing that jumps off the screen from watching this guy play is his high motor that’s what they talked about we love this guy’s motor his go how he runs the floor how hard he plays and we saw that showcased in just 14 minutes 8.7 rebounds they also listed this dude at 6 foot N I don’t know if that’s accurate he might be 6′ 11 he might be closer to 7 feet tall than he is 6′ n and if that’s the case at 18 years old Charlotte might have legitimately got a steal at number six urgency requires buying when you talk about urgency in your marriage urgency at work it requires you car ing enough in order to buy into that urgency caring enough to lay so much on the line it is urgent it’s urgent we do this thing that you need to do for your house it’s urgent you do this thing for a family member it’s urgent you do this thing for your job urgency requires buying and Charlotte is getting that right now that starts with their new headcut coach Charles Lee a few weeks after taking the Boston Celtics as an assistant to the NBA uh finals in winning a championship is Boston coaching during summer league to put that in perspective only two head coaches out of the 30 NBA franchises had their head coach coach in summer league a year ago Charles Lee probably has the best excuse not to or one of the best excuses just coached in the fin less than a month ago maybe I could get some semblance of vacation and time off no he’s all in he’s coaching and Lee’s presence there likely inspired or influenced the most important player in the Hornets building Brandon Miller to participate in summer league to play in Summer League 23 points in that Vegas game on Friday night after all do you know who wasn’t playing in summer league scoot Henderson scoot Henderson who we’ll take the L on that we were scoot guys we wanted them to take Scoot a year ago we were wrong on that wrong Brandon had a much better year Brandon had a lot more reasons to skip summer league if he wanted to a lot more reasons to be above it yet Brandon Miller is playing and Scoot Henderson is not here was Charles Lee on ESPN’s brother broadcast of Hornet’s Nicks talking about Brandon Miller yeah you know I’m very excited that Brandon uh when we sat down and talk to him about the opportunity to play in Summer League it was exactly that it was an opportunity for him to just continue to get more reps um and as he continues to grow in this league uh he’s one of our better players on this young coure and so the team is going to follow his lead and it was really important for him to come out here and play and work hard and practice and do everything that it takes uh to build the appropriate Foundation that we need in Charlotte the root of the Charlotte Hornets new culture is urgency and urgency requires buyin Charles Lee is bought in he’s there Brandon Miller is bought into to his coach so much so that he was there the night that the Celtics won the title Randon Miller was in the locker room with Charles Lee there to support him miles Bridges bought in at under expected market value to be a part of what’s being built by Charles Lee and by Jeff Peterson the veteran additions that Charlotte has added recently they fit in nicely too did you see that they signed Taj Gibson Taj Gibson most known for playing for whom Tom Tibido Tom Tibido is Captain buay in you play for Tom Tibido you better be completely bought in if you plan to have success or to be around for any period of time Tosh Gibson’s been a long time there Reggie Jackson he was on the Nuggets championship team from just a few years ago so all this should make Hornet fans very excited now we get it the bar for Hornet’s basketball a lot lower than pretty much anybody else across the NBA but the foundation that’s being set seems legit the moves that are being made make a lot of sense and you got to love the level of Bome we’re seeing urgency that’s the new name of the game all gas no breaks that’s the new identity the new culture of Charwood Hornet’s basketball
