If you can believe in BOTH Kuminga and Podz I think the move is to let the first part of the season teach us what we have and what we need. If the Lauri stuff is at an impasse no use budging an inch bidding against ourselves. But we might have a better squad than we think and might find maybe a smaller move for a center might be the move or let the other stuff shake out. Lauri isn’t the only player that will be available this season.
Danny had the chance to get Podz Moody 4 picks/swaps at the outset of talks but scared better offers away from Kings and Spurs insisting on a higher price. The iron was hot… now it’s not. MDJ is looking around like “oh I’m the only one here… now it’s all the picks and no Podz”
I think the sense is that Utah is not entirely firm in how Lauri extension talks look. Cuz if he’s like “the Bulls effd me last time around” maybe he won’t be the shoe in to stick in Utah “just because he said he likes Utah.”

NGL its kinda funny watching people blame Kerr for team USAs struggles and ignore the fact that USA basketball development has been pretty bad for the last 10 or so years, which has led to a crop of meh “superstars”, like try and imagine this team with no Steph, Lebron, and KD, you think theyd even sniff the gold medal game?
