Brian Wright loves this kids and is completely sold on him.
His quote "You want to find hard workers," Spurs general manager Brian Wright said. "(Players) that care about the game. Over time, those are the ones that improve. You have to put the time in; put the work in. You can't just fast-forward to the end to know the exact outcome, but you can bet on the ingredients."
And another one "He's a really, really talented point guard," Wright said. "Probably the best pick-and-roll player in the draft as a passer. He's tough, he's got moxie, he's competitive and he's a winner."

I honestly have no clue if Nunez Will ever turn into a high-level player. He has some real huge question marks against him that could prevent him from ever being more than a bit role player. What detractors of Castle think his jumpshot is, Nunez really does have that level of jank in his jumper. It’s a true problem and something that he absolutely is going to have to figure out if he has any chance of being more than a fringed guy.
But I’ll tell you what… It’s insanely rare to find a second round pic with his combination of size, international experience/pro experience, and just truly special playmaking ability. Usually if you see point guards with plus size who can throw passes the way he does. They’re going in the lottery.
And the Spurs essentially get to let one of the best teams in the world, not in the NBA obviously, give him experience and development opportunities while they still try to figure out what they have/ what will become of guys like Wesley/ Malachi.
This was quite frankly a really solid low risk High reward move by Brian wright. If Nunes, and let’s be very clear here, this is a monstrous if, becomes a passable shooter There’s a realistic pathway to him being a high-level NBA point guard because again, he’s truly that special of a playmaker
It’ll be very interesting to revisit him and his stock at the end of the season. And also a good opportunity For Spurs fans to have a reason to watch Euro League games this year.
