Tatum needs to be hitting 3s to get minutes on a team like this. It sucks that he’s getting the short end of the stick and I’m sure he can be a positive for this team, but with so many guys who can create offense the best thing they can do is maximize the spacing.
Tatum does a good job setting other guys up and being willing to run actions without the ball, but that’s just not as valuable from a wing when you’ve got bigs who are elite in that regard. Guys would rather work off an AD screen than a Tatum one. That ability is much more valuable in NBA games when you don’t have all stars at every position. It also isn’t especially helpful when you’re playing around LeBron and KD, guys will just switch every time.
