Carmelo Anthony has been highlighted as the second greatest basketball Olympian:
But not much is mentioned about his ‘08 run. Does anyone have any memorable moments around this time or him being apart of this team impacted him for the remaining tenure of his Nuggets career?

*or how him being apart of this team
It was the only time in his career he was serious about playing defense. And quite frankly, it pissed me off. It showed that he could play defense, he just didn’t want to.
I remember him being an absolute amazing finisher when paired with Lebron, Chris Paul, and Jason Kidd. I thought maybe if he was paired with someone like Andre Miller-type but could shoot well instead of AI, we’d maximize his abilities. Then Chauncey Billups came and it was awesome for couple seasons.
He also fully bought into the Power Forward role and rebounded really well on the redeem team, and I remember thinking if he really tried hard at anything other than scoring, he can do really well, but he didn’t put in consistent effort on the Nuggets. The whole “media spotlight” thing really affected him where he’d only do well when it’s a marquee matchup against people like Lebron and Kobe, but totally flop against the bad teams like the kings. It pissed me off how much harder he played on the Knicks.
Yeah, that’s really the main thing I took away from Olympic Melo: he could be awesome if he’d put in the effort, had a constant spotlight on him, paired with a player who can create shots for others.
Melo sucks
