I know you can’t send your NBA guys out since unlike 5×5, you gotta finalize your team several months in advance I believe and participate in the 3×3 circuit which takes place during the NBA season but still, this is absolutely pathetic. I wonder if the USA basketball association tries to lock out the Big 3 league because of their ties to the NBA.
Ice Cube challenged the Olympic team to play against the Big3 champions which I would obviously love to see but that tells me there is beef.
Like, it’s obviously a good thing for the sport to have a professional league in America. If anything, the Big 3 should seek a competitive international club competition like the Champions league in soccer to solidify the difference between themselves and the NBA to showcase the league
The team was quite likely to win a medal alongside Latvia and Serbia. Jimmer got injured, and apparently theres no good fix for that in the sport. The whole team was visually exhausted, and once things turned south mid game they just went on full tilt. Really unfortunate how it turned out. And while these guys arent lebron, kd and ant, theyre a very respectable team in the 3×3 community. Some of the comments here are incredibly disrespectful to the players.
We sent dudes named Jimmer, Canyon and Dylan to a basketball tournament. We were absolutely not trying to win.

We really can’t find better. Honestly, one of the reasons the IOC added this event because the US dominates the 5×5 competition and they want other countries to have gold medal chances. The schedule and format is created so the best US players don’t play- that’s a feature, not a bug.
And to be fair to the current team, they did pretty well the past year! Had some nice wins, took 2nd in a major tournament. Jimmer got hurt and things were pretty hopeless, but the team doesn’t need to be THAT much better to compete for a medal in 2028.

Girls team is great, would be a favorite if it wasn’t for brinks injury and they STILL qualified for next round. Guys squad has to be better
We need a few retired NBA guys with generational wealth to commit to this. Get one sharpshooter and two tall defensive bodies to bang down low and you’re golden. Respect to Jimmer for representing but just like getting drafted one slot ahead of Kemba, he was simply not the guy here

We should just let 4 or 5 good players on shit teams miss some NBA games to play in the qualifiers for this event. You tell Cade, Lamelo, and Jalen Duren, that they can miss some of the NBA season to qualify for the Olympics while their team tanks anyway. No shot they say no.

Watching the 3×3 in the Olympics and some Big 3 bball and it’s night and day. I’m tired just watching the 3×3 guys play at a 12 sec shot clock pace. Those retired 40+ year olds do not have the cardio to be doing all that running around.
