D’Angelo Russell: “I was in Los Angeles, playing Phoenix. I used to get the whistle, a nice little whistle in LA.” Devin Booker: “In LA….Ain’t that convenient? You didn’t get it in Brooklyn or Golden State. That makes sense.”

Gets the most free throws by a WIDE margin, but if you miss one call, they berate you and your family till you quit, all while playing the victim.

  2. JokicIsLebronFather

Net differential free-throw attempts for the last 2 seasons (including the playoffs)

    1. Lakers (+1,017)

    2. Knicks (+358)

    3. Bucks (+344)

    4. Orlando (+311)

    5. Boston (+271)

    6. Miami (+263)

Yeah this isn’t news. Everyone know the lakers get the most favorable whistle in the league

    EDIT: except lakers fans

  4. As much as I hate to defend the Lakers, this simply isn’t true. His top FTA per 36 are 4.9 (’19-’20 GSW & MIN), 4.5 (’20-’21 MIN) and 4.2 (’21-’22 MIN).

  5. NBA2024

That’s some bullshit. It should be more fair

Can someone strongman the argument that the lakers deserve to get all these free throws? like it cannot be that the nba wants them to win more games, right?

  7. Overall-Palpitation6

Russell’s FTr with the Lakers is lower than when he was with GSW and Minnesota, and his FTA per 100 possessions with the Lakers is less than when he was with GSW, Minnesota, and Brooklyn.

    Facts.

  8. whitewrm

Jokic needs to go to LA, homie has gotta have an all time bad whistle.

  9. The-Pharcyde

You know the players and coaches all complain about it too lol.

  10. MojiHex

Damn I thought he was talking about getting head lmao

Please can SOMEONE explain why LeBron gets a fucking horrible whistle then? The instant he got here his whistle went to the gutter, but nooooo let’s never fucking EVER mention that!

Dlo has actually averaged and attempted less free throws while playing for the lakers vs his other teams

So what’s the overall point of this video?

Do people really think the refs gift free free throws to Lakers? Who haven’t won 50 games since 2020??

Cuase I can tell you lakers should be averaging more free throws then they do.

Lebron is by far the most disrespected player in the nba by the refs, Lebron gets clotheslined driving 5x a game and can’t average more than 6 ftas a game for a season.

So i don’t see the point of this video.

For people who think the games are rigged to help the lakers win games while also being a play in team, it’s laughable.

More often than not the refs have hurt the lakers wrongfully than helped

    Tatums blantant hack

The refs literally watched Lebron’s toes 10 feet behind the 3pt line and deemed a shot a 2 end of game.

Seeing some of the causal try to say the lakers are given an unfair advantage is getting annoying at this point.

Austin Reeves used to get the nice whistle in his second season, then they realized it was Austin Reeves.

What’s weird is that we get a lot of calls, but somehow when LeBron gets mugged at the basket (and Kobe, back in the day), no whistle.

  15. I think it was Evan Turner on a podcast who said that to win a Game 7 on the road against a more-popular team, you need to win by 15 points just to win by 1.

Don’t bother deep dive into stats and drive percentages and usage rates… this is two relatively experienced NBA players saying the quiet part out loud:

The Lakers get a friendly whistle because the league wants them to make the playoffs.

Not every single game. Not every single possession. But on average, they get a friendly whistle. Once you accept that the NBA is a basketball product more than it is a basketball competition, this stuff bothers you less.

  16. bippinndippin

The players know. You put on that Lakers jersey and the refs look at you different.

  17. caulpain

d’angelo russell’s nba accomplishments to $$$ ratio is one of the greatest of all time

  18. kihraxz_king

He’s full of shit. Look up his per 36 stats. His FT rate was best in GS and Minn. The year he split time at age 26 between Minn and LA his FT rate per 36 was identical with both teams: 3.4.

Fuck outta here trying to get us into this conspiracy bullshit.

  19. canadianbroncos

Unrelated but I’m so confused by that background, are they golfing in a forest lol?

  20. aimreallyhigh

It came to light back when they played against that Kings team with CWebb in the WCF. Worst officiating ever. And they still get the friendliest whistle in the league although not as criminal as that WCF
