[Wojnarowski] The extension precludes Markkanen from being traded for six months – which pushes him past February 6th trade deadline and means he isn’t eligible to be moved until next offseason.

Warriors should’ve put one of podz or jk on the table, ridiculous to hold up the deal over one of them

Is the idea to still try and move him next toffseason? Seems like what woj is hinting at.

But but who will save the Warriors now?

Utah going for that Markkanen / Flagg / Filipowski / Kessler All-Classy lineup.

I’ll be the one to say it. Massive mishandling of this whole situation by Utah. His value will never be higher than last trade deadline / this offseason. And the Jazz aren’t making the playoffs during the length of this contract.
They needed to pick a direction, and a team with Markkanen as your first or second best player just seems like a team that caps out as the 2022 Chicago Bulls.

Assuming 15-25M players are legit role players, how can any team dare to give up so (2-3 players minimum) many assets to match 47M for Lauri and also send draft capitals? With this new CBA teams are getting smarter now, look at Grant, thats why he hasnt moved. No team is/will be willing to make KD trade anymore.
I think its gonna take atleast 2 years for cap to be big in amount so teams can initiate a trade for Lauri. And still, that contract will hurt his value a lot.

Por one out for every NBa podcaster out on the internet’s

Now that Lauri has officially signed the extension and is off the market, expect to see the free agency and trade markets loosened up. Teams now can put that behind him and we’re gonna start seeing more moves made from here. There are still available players out there that can really help teams.
Lauri is a better player than it seems some on here think he is. He has been a top 25 player the last two seasons. He’s not a #1 guy on a title team, but he compliments a #1 guy so well because he doesn’t need the ball in his hands constantly to be a big offensive contributor. He’s versatile, a solid playmaker, and isn’t a terrible defender. That’s the kind of guy you build around.
Jazz have so many assets, they have plenty of pathways to add to their roster and improve around Lauri. A race to the bottom isn’t a necessity.
