It sounds like bad timing combined with Jaylen being a bit of a conspiracy theorist. I do think Jaylen not making the team has a something to do with some of his views and with Nike. However he was a fringe potential member but then he happened to win Finals MVP. If that vote goes to JT instead then none of this is an issue. They made a decision to give the old guys one last run and have a couple role player Celtics. That’s pretty much it.

As one of Jaylen’s biggest fans this sounds like Grant Hill doing some PR to try to save the relationship. I’m ngl tho I really hate the perception around Jaylen as a conspiracy theorist. Feels really reductive and insulting of his intelligence. Acting like he’s some dumb kid that doesnt know what is going on when we all see it.
There is clear favoritism in this year’s Olympics in favor of the long-established veterans, but they refuse to come out and say it. These “tough decisions” the team has to make with resting Tatum and snubbing JB stem from the fact that they want this to be Team Bron, Steph, and KD. Everyone on the team was picked to cater to them and playing time is given to make them happy and highlight them as the stars. That’s fine considering how beloved they are, but shouldn’t team USA be willing to admit it?
Idk just feels a bit insulting to these guys for Team USA to be doing things with such a clear reason but then go to the media and put it on JB and JT to be the bigger people when all the other stars of their caliber get special treatment. I’m ready to get back to NBA season so our guys can show the level they’re on and these haters don’t get to control when and how they play

Paul George mentioned on his podcast that he found out he wasn’t on the team when the videos of the players receiving their jerseys came out. Seems like a lie to me.

Grant Hill is from Duke, so you know he’s a fed. Also is a part-owner of the Hawks, so there’s your conflict of interest. USA basketball selection process and the hoopla around it is a perfect microcosm for the cronyism that defines this country’s bureaucracy. Shits a facade…
