> and as for Embiid individually, that Serbia game was without a doubt one of the most memorable games of his entire basketball career. Whatever other negative publicity he got during this experience is far outweighed by the respect he earned after that game.
This x1000. The haters will try and downplay that performance, highlighting missed rebounds and turnovers late, and that’s to be expected. But I think what is overlooked with the Serbia game is that Embiid was definitely the most impactful player on the court, if you’re weighing both ends.
It wasn’t just his 7 straight points in the 4thQ that was so crucial, it was his stretches in the 2nd & 3rd quarter as well, when we couldn’t score for shit and Jokic was having his way with AD & Bam. Embiid made timely, *necessary* buckets throughout the *entire* course of the game, while taking Jokic *completely* out of his comfort zone.
Grant Hill recruited Embiid specifically because we’d be bronze medalists without him. So all of the other narrative bullshit, all of the nit picking bullshit, all of fucking Serbia, France, r/nba & r/nbatalk, and that fucking clown Mike Selinkski who writes for the Inquirer can go fuck themselves because they really don’t have a leg to stand on.
Everyone said this team didn’t need Embiid, they said Embiid wanted a free gold medal, they said every fucking thing, and in one game Embiid proved them all wrong.

Very solid writing. Totally agree with him about NBA discourse being so agenda-driven, but I’ve become so numb to it that I really don’t even care anymore. I hope Embiid feels the same way about it all.
I’ve been thinking and in my honest opinion, I think Jo might be the most underrated player in the league. Hear me out: how many other players in the league in the top 25 don’t naturally have the ball in their hands? Probably AD and Bam, every other player is perimeter oriented. Jo had developed his offensive game as a primarily post player. He’s since moved out the post and acquired a nearly deadly face up game. Hes one of 5 or 6 players that can be considered the best player in the world; and as mentioned above, has to have the ball given to him! I’m going to do more thinking about this and then post in r/NBA and the like. Lol

I loved seeing him throw screens for curry. Steph’s wide open and his nearest defender is on the ground
