I just wanna toss Steve Francis into this conversation

If overrated is tied to the expectation that was set for a player – the obvious one for me is Rolando Blackmon.

Marbury, who was supposed to be like Brunson but ended up being coked up and contributed to the drama and disfunction

Honestly, tough. Splitting hairs here for me
I’m gonna go John Starks. Scorer yes. Some highlight moments. But looking at his numbers, he was a very streaky shooter and an average playmaker with a 2:1 AST:TO ratio.
Again, talking overrated. People give him quite lofty regard in NYC, but to me he was a slight above average role player who was the only good scoring option besides Ewing.
Edit: a lot of people commenting players that people had *high expectations* for and then they fell flat. That’s not what overrated means. Overrated means people remember them for being far better than they were.

Suprised Jamal Crawford wasnt on there for most underrated

Randle underrated?! I guess that puts to bed the narrative that he has so many haters.
Lin is 100% the most overrated. also, hm for LJ
JODonnell2194
Zach Randolph, 81 games in 2 years. Really only played one season with us and we were 23-59
TDM_11
Jeremy Lin, Yes, Linsanity was entertaining, but some people talk about him as if he was going to be a cornerstone for the franchise. Fans loved the story, but the reality was that he wasn’t as good as perceived. Tommy Devito syndrome

As much as I like him and he’s a knicks legend, it’s Carmelo.

Kevin Knox (summer league hype)
Tim Hardaway Jr. (no reason we should’ve brought him back)
Steve Francis (was not the Franchise)

It’s Carmelo. The length of time he was here, the media hype around him during his play time, and his continued connection to the team/the fact that we still talk about him despite very limited success. That being said I don’t hate him but he’s easily most overrated

Glad to see Big Ju getting love!

STAT. Was an open sieve on the defensive end for all his offensive might. Watching opposing bigs feast to historic levels (Kevin Love 30/30) consistently kind of got tiresome.

Yall ain’t gonna like this but if yall keeping it real. You know who it is. Hands down. Easy. You can’t be a role player and be OVERRATED. I’ll say that much.
