the rumors were everywhere, but like what star wasn’t rumored to be with the lakers for all the previous years Kobe was gone? i’m more shocked someone actually trusted the org enough to make it happen. if you take all of that away, however, i don’t think i ever saw posts about him going into anywhere else besides California. all the narratives went into golden state or lakers. i guess i just followed trends and assumed he was cali-bound but hoping it was with the lakers.

I remember telling all my friends but nobody believed me because LeBron was coming to a Lakers with no star players.

Honestly, I wasn’t thrilled about it. Not because I disliked LeBron, I was a huge LeBron fan. I was more skeptical about the Lakers fanbase. Prior to his joining the team, the only thing lakers flairs and celtics flairs agreed on was their mutual hate of LeBron on r/nba. Even after he joined, this sub was pretty divided until the championship. I think Game of Zones did a whole bit on it if I remember correctly.
