[95.7 The Game] “I know I’ve gotten better. I can feel it, I can see it…Took out the floaters, took out the hook shots. Put in more mid-range stuff, more 3’s off the dribble, more 3’s off the catch.” 👀 – Brandin Podziemski on @WillardAndDibs .

Yall don’t realize how much I’ve been wishing for him to go away from his floaters & hook shots (esp his floating hook shots.) That may have worked for him in college, but this 1 season since his 1st SL showed it’s no longer a reliable tool in his bag like before. Love to hear this
80% of your results is about finding that 20% of skills that complements your game. Hope he found his 20%
The Olympic workouts didn’t show it.
summer league didn’t show any of this lol
I can’t be the only one who’s sad if the hook shots are really a thing of the past. We all need that little dash of comedy in our lives
It’s good the have the hooks and floaters as a option but it’s good he went away from it so he doesn’t rely on those shots.
Hopefully we see a big jump in the three point shot, that a lone would be so huge to our offense
I will miss those Kareem sky hooks (I won’t)
It remains to be seen how good Podz can be, time will tell, but I like how much he works at literally everything on and off the court.
I just hope he does what is asked of him: shoot the 3 when it’s actually there. Kerr admittedly liked him for his playmaking/ballhandling, but at the end of the season, he made it abundantly clear what he wanted from podz all along, which was to play the role of shooter; in kerr’s words, “i want him to just let it fly”, which wasnt what the kid was doing.
The guy passed up so many wide open 3s last year, many of which led to those floaters and running hook shots that he’s talking about. Curry and klay’s gravity gave him so many clean looks but he elected to dribble to the paint instead. He can say he feels he got better, but talk is cheap, so i wanna see him just shoot.
I like podz a lot, but i felt a lot of his issue last year was his approach to the game. It just felt like he was doing too much (probably because of overconfidence). He needs to be fine with “just being another guy”, because, well…. that’s literally who he is right now. On the court with curry and dray, podz is just another guy who needs to play his role. His approach this year should be: to not have a big brain about his role and to just keep it simple by just shooting the ball… especially if he’s playing the 2 alongside curry (and/or dray).
Why does he get so much attention?
