George Mikan, the first GOAT before Russell and Wilt came along. He averaged 28 ppg back when teams averaged 70-80 ppg total, just nuts. His TS+s in his first 3 seasons were 127, 119 and 119 again. Those are Steph Curry and prime Lebron level efficiency numbers.
I know there are some obvious knocks on him, primarily the few black players in the league at the time, but I can’t help but feel like the general historical disregard he faces is totally unwarranted. He played the games that were there in front of him and he absolutely dominated

I don’t care if their chips with him are basically fraudulent because he was the only 7 foot black dude playing against a bunch of white scrubs – having a rival that can kick your ass is what makes a rival worth it. Worth hating. It makes victory all the sweeter.

Mikan if you wanted to force it to be an all laker Rushmore but it’d be easier task to move kareem & shaq out the Rushmore which is saying alot than to remove Bill Russell regardless of the era his resume is just too big it’d be another laker replaced if anything.
