Day 9: Best Passer

Most wasted potential will end early- I almost skipped it altogether to avoid the moral discussion of giving this award to Len Bias. I want to say that the Len Bias tragedy is something that should not be taken lightly- I have personal friends who have struggled with addiction and am extremely thankful that their stories have not ended the same way. I want to look at giving Len Bias this category as an honor to the amazing college career he had and not as a way to slander a poor decision by a kid that resulted in a tragedy. I also want to shout out Chris Herren for being another former Celtic who battled addiction but was able to overcome it and use his story to make the world a better place. He came to my high school to tell his very impactful story and I like to believe the thousands of kids he has reached over the years helped to save some lives. Len Bias winning this category should be viewed as a tribute to his legacy living on and not as a negative commentary on the way his life tragically ended.

The Houdini of the Hardwood, Bob Cousy

The only right answer is Raef Lafrenzt

Cousy. Just in terms of longevity, consistency, and success. It’s important to remember Bill Russel was a defensive anchor and depended on Cousy to run offense.

I love me some Rondo (and might be underrating Cousy because he was before my time) but it’s gotta be Bird

  5. thomaso40

Larry. Rondo was terrific but Bird is probably one of the best in history.

    I will ask in advance-what is ā€best handlesā€ ??

Does that refer to ball handler? Dribbler?

  7. Vamanas_umbrella

Cousy he walked so Rondo could run. You can’t go wrong with either choice.

It’s bird he was the second best passer of the eighties

  9. vectron88

It’s Bird. Bird is in the top 3 for greatest passer of all time.

This should not be a discussion.

The Michael Jordan era may have played out slightly differently if Bias and Lewis didn’t pass away. Such tragedies.
