The Importance of Re-signing Lowry Markkanen
First and foremost, I’m genuinely pleased that the Jazz re-signed Lowry. He’s not just a great player; he’s a cornerstone for our team. When we did our research on the history of tanking, it became clear that teams who strip their rosters bare often struggle to rebuild effectively. Oklahoma City with Harden, Durant, and Westbrook is a rare exception. Most teams that tank for three years only manage to make the playoffs, and even then, advancing beyond the first round is uncertain.
Lowry’s presence on the court is invaluable. He provides stability and a foundation for our younger players like Keonte George, Bryce Sensabaugh, and Taylor Hendricks to develop. Without a player of Lowry’s caliber, these young talents would struggle to find their footing. It’s crucial to have someone who can hold their own and guide the team.
