Why I’m higher on Jaime Jaquez Jr. than most

Hey fellow Heat fans! I took my first attempt at writing – check it out! https://allucanheat.com/posts/key-stats-jaime-jaquez-jr-way-to-miami-heat-stardom

Good stuff. Doesn’t his skill set remind you of someone? Once upon a time, in 2003, Miami picked up this young man from Marquette/Chicago.

There are some parallels there. Not the greatest shooter, but grown man game, crafty, and could get to the basket at will. Sound familiar? Of all the young talent Miami has picked up, JJJ is the one I’m most interested about.

I dont think anyone thinks Jaquez won’t be a good player, but i’m just struggling to see him becoming a star level player. He isn’t a great 3pt shooter, he doesnt have a consistent mid ranger, and his defensive iq is lacking. But maybe im a hater for thinking that none of our young guys have star potential.

Purely from a writing perspective, you did a pretty great job. You have nice rhythm and flow while providing pertinent stats and facts for the reader. My biggest suggestion would be to grab the most recent copy of the AP Style Handbook to use as a reference for the standardized format of journalism writing, such as no Oxford commas for one example (which I wholeheartedly disagree with, but that’s neither here nor there). Otherwise, awesome job! Also, JJJ is the fuckin shit. Source: just a dude with a master’s degree in journalism trying to get his work out there.

You have to remember that as a rookie, he is not given the freedom by the coaches to go out there and play with all his ability. They are going to have him do the certain things they want to see. With the heat it applies to everyone except jimmy. Bam can shoot 3’s but they don’t want that, so he doesn’t take them.

Even if he were to plateau he would be our second or third best player at getting to the free throw line

Jaime was drafted in the 2023 Draft and not the aforementioned 2024 draft class from the article. Shoot, who knows, perhaps time will tell wether we have found another Diamond with kel’el ware’s selection from this years draft class. I like our chances, “GO HEAT”.
