First, he guides the Boston Celtics to an NBA best 64-18 record, 14 wins more than the next best team in the East and 7 more than the No. 1 seed in the West.
Tatum and Jaylen Brown then lead Boston to a 16-3 playoff record en route to their first NBA championship as a duo and the 18th in the storied history of the Boston Celtics franchise
Then, he signs the largest contract in NBA history: a 5-year, $395 million max deal to remain in Boston, where he’ll have a great chance at repeating.
Jayson Tatum was named the cover athlete for NBA 2K25 in July alongside Las Vegas Aces superstar and 2-time WNBA champion A’ja Wilson.
And finally, Tatum wins an Olympic gold medal with Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics in August.
Has anyone had a better summer? Has any pro athlete ever had a better summer than what we’ve seen from Jayson Tatum?
And just imagine how locked in Tatum will be after reports that he wasn’t happy with his low minutes total during the Olympic run.

As a huge fan of Brown and Tatum as individuals, I hate that they got disrespected by the Olympic squad because they have more than proven they deserve to be two of the key cogs for that team.
That said, as a huge fan of the Celtics, there’s not anything better that could’ve happened. Two top ten players coming off a title could get complacent (not that I think they would). They both have achieved just about all you could hope for at this age. Both securing the largest contract in NBA history at the time, all stars, all NBAs (although JB got shafted this year), ECF MVPs, Finals MVPs for JB, etc.
But these two now have every reason to have an absolute inferno lit under their asses to go out and fuck the league this year. And I have no doubt with the way those two work and find motivation that they’re gonna come out with a vengeance next year AFTER WINNING A TITLE. Thank you Grant Hill and Steve Kerr. You just made a back-to-back more likely.

I think in his most honest moments, JT would ask you to remove the Olympic gold from this list of achievements. Participation trophies don’t mean shit to NBA champs like him
