Arguably the moment Covid became “real” for the US at large rather than some foreign flu that at that point was already spreading all over the world anyway.

One of the craziest day. Rudy getting covid, players locked in the arena, nba suspends the season, trump later forced to make an emergency announcement about covid being a pandemic. Everything starts shutting down after this night for awhile

I remember having debates with my boss in February 2020 about how the whole country was going to shut down about this. He thought I was crazy. Dipshit

This being after he did that press conference about Covid will always be funny to me.
UrGirlSlurpingNeck
its funny how redditors gave Rudy a pass for this cause he supposedly didn’t know better
then we saw Rudy proceed to follow Tucker Carlson and a bunch of other right wing accounts and repost a comment saying “my pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci”

Even though Rudy was an ass beforehand with the microphones and everything, it was awesome that he reported his symptoms and did the right thing. Christian Wood on the other hand, whom Rudy may have contacted it from…

I remember hearing this and Tom Hanks testing positive on my drive home. I had to pull over. It became very real.

I will never forget it man, people thinking Gobert was about to drop dead. 🤣
Chessh2036
I’ll never forget this night. In one hour it was announced Tom Hanks had COVID and the Jazz-Thunder game was currently postponed dude to a positive COVID test.
That’s the night I realized this was real and serious.

I was on my way to a bar to watch the Kings only nationally televised game. It ended up getting cancelled. My only thought was typical Kangz

There’s a crazy amount of people who think the NBA wouldn’t have been shut down that year if Rudy didn’t get covid.
PaperCutterWizard
I was in the arena when the news broke. Crazy to think what would follow.

Man… if only the Jazz coach was a big conspiracy theorist. Hydroxychloroquin Snyder has a nice ring to it.

This postponement, Gobert, and Mark Cuban’s reaction is forever seared into my mind as the permanent line that crossed from another bird flu in china to, “oh shit, is this real?”

It was a pretty surreal moment in time. Started by an immature and dumb moment earlier that was initially appeared light hearted until Gobert was announced to have been tested positive for COVID. Then hearing Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson having COVID really showed that shit was hitting the fan. Ultimately, an unfortunate event in history that’s still haunting us to this day. The ramifications of COVID still persists whether we realize it or not.
Anyway, without hindsight, how would you guys have handled the restart of the 2019-20 season? We all make jokes about the Lakers winning the Mickey Mouse title in Orlando. But with all that transpired, was there a better way to restart the season or should it have been canceled for good and become the first NBA season in its history to not crown a champion? Especially in sports history where some leagues or events occurred during wars or other significant events while other leagues stopped due to lockouts and player strikes.

I remember seeing this and then the restaurant I worked at got shut down the next day before we could even serve lunch. Wild times man

I had tickets for a game on the 12th too.
Still can’t believe he mocked Covid, touched all those mics, tested positive and then the league shut down.
Never liked him much, but he certainly made sure to one up himself.
