Swapping out Slowmo and Morris for Dillingham and TSJ is exciting and risky. Playmaking is one thing, but it feels like the Wolves are thin on players you trust to be able to bring the ball up the floor when pressured. Last year Conley, Anderson, Morris, and Jmac (when he played) could all be trusted to handle the ball and set up actions. Ant’s handle is improving, and I’m guessing he’ll take on more of those duties this year, but there’s a lot of pressure on Rob not just to provide high level scoring– he’s gonna need to learn how to be a serviceable backup PG on the fly.
Conley’s about the best mentor someone in Rob’s shoes could have, but I feel to get back to the WCF the Wolves need Rob to pan out year one. I think he can do it, he just has an electric feel to his game that’s gonna have the Target Center bumping a lot of nights, but it is a big risk to ask Dillingham to be a solid backup NBA PG from the jump.
