There are lots of good options here. Eric Gordon, Trevor Ariza, Shane Battier, P.J. Tucker, Robert Horry, Mario Ellie, maybe even Chuck Hayes.

He never got to play on a good team but Cuttino Mobley would have been a great piece.

    Sleeper pick here: Robert Reid.

Helped bring us to the finals twice and is top 10 in franchise history in games played, field goals, rebounds, assists, blocks, and points even though he took a year off to focus on his religion during his stint with us.

I think he qualifies as a role player because he never made an all star team to my knowledge, and his career stats are 11.4/4.5/2.7. I never saw him play since he retired in 1991, but he seemed like an important role player for the Moses Malone rockets through the first few years of Dream’s Rockets.

He probably won’t win but I wanted to give him a shout out. He apparently passed away this year from cancer.

I’d go with Eric Gordon. Wasn’t here to see the older guys to be fair but Eric Gordon was kinda like our Iguodala for our recent competitive teams.

The fact that Tracy Is not on this list once is pretty shameful

    Sam Cassell. Bobby Sura. Gordon.

I’m gonna go with Gerald Green just because he’s the man.

I’m just sad that Tmac didn’t make it into a spot

And the winner for the Rockets’ Best Role Player is:

    ~~Sam Cassell~~

    ~~Mario Ellie~~

    🏆 Robert Horry

    ~~Vernon Maxwell~~

    ~~Kenny Smith~~

  13. WhiteMessyKen

In no particular order; Shane Battier, Cuttino Mobley, Lou Williams.

I’m gonna go with Horry. He had fringe all star type potential during his Rockets years and was AMAZING when Rudy slid him to the 4 position during their second championship run. I was sad to see him go when we got Barkley.

  15. counterpointguy

Mario Elie is the perfect guy here. Three and D before it fashionable. Came off the bench. One of the biggest moments in Rockets history. Heart of a champion 2x.

    JIM FUCKING JACKSON

He averaged 13.3 points and 4.8 rebounds 2004-2005.

I also recall that he hit 3+ 3 pointers consecutively in 20 games but I can’t find the source to back it up.

He’s my honorable mention for most underrated. He was a very reliable role player.
