DC Franchise Grid, Day 2 (Most Underrated)

So because I was an idiot and the first grid I posted was already filled at the top corner, I thought it'd be best to delete that one. After Most Underrated, we'll go in order.

As for Most Overrated, it looked pretty close, but Juwan had the top upvoted comment. And the Beal discussion seemed pretty polarizing anyway.

Open to everyone, but IMO, the best candidates are:

    Caron Butler

    Antawn Jamison

    Earl “The Pearl” Monroe

    Walt Bellamy

    Bob Dandridge

    Jeff Malone

    Jeff Ruland

    Phil Chenier

    Archie Clark

    Rod Strickland

    Greg Ballard

    Terry Dischinger

    Jack Marin

    Mitch Kupchak

    Kevin Grevey

    Michael Adams

  2. I like the guy and I hope he does well, but this sub overrated the hell out of Deni for a minute

My heart says Caron Butler, but my head says Antawn Jamison.

I’m gonna throw my vote toward Bob Dandridge. He was a vital member of that 1978 championship team and finished top 5 in MVP voting the year after the chip. No other franchise player has cracked the top 5 in MVP voting in a season since.

Honestly, just looking over old rosters, Muresan might be my vote. He’s kind of a meme given his size, but dude was genuinely a good player.

One of the 4 HOF’ers that spent the majority of their career with the Bullets: Gus Johnson. Played for us 9 seasons

    5× NBA All-Star (1965, 1968–1971)

    4× All-NBA Second Team (1965, 1966, 1970, 1971)

    2× NBA All-Defensive First Team (1970, 1971)

    NBA All-Rookie First Team (1964)

No. 25 retired by Washington Wizards

Still number 7 in Franchise points scored, 5 in franchise minutes played, 9 in games played. He might as well have played in the 1920s for all he is remembered. That was one of his fears, he died at 48 from a brain tumor, he hoped his kids would remember him and what he did.

*”Gus was ahead of his time, flying through the air for slam dunks, breaking backboards and throwing full-court passes behind his back. He was spectacular, but he also did the nitty gritty jobs, defense and rebounding. With all the guys in the Hall of Fame, Gus deserves to be there already*.” ^(Earl Monroe)

“*Gus Johnson was one of the greatest players I ever played with or against, He was a ferocious defender and rebounder, and as a young player, I was completely in awe of his ability. He was truly a star ahead of his time.”* ^(Wes Unseld)

“*Gus was probably one of the roughest players I have ever played against. He was not a dirty player. He was one of the most tenacious competitors ever to play the game.”* ^(Dave DeBusschere)

Or maybe 2 time all star 5 time 20+ PPG scorer Jeff Malone
