When conversations about big men in the post come about, you usually here the same 5 names (current, before and way back):
Kareem — Most Unstoppable Move
Hakeem — Most Noteworthy Footwork
Shaq — Most Physically Imposing
Duncan — Most Fundamentally Sound
Jokic — Most Balanced Passer/Scorer
But the man with a thousand moves should never be overlooked.
McHale was so devastating for opposing defenders in the post that he was nicknamed "The Torture Chamber".
He was big reason why the Celtics were so difficult to defend and score against (McHale & Parish defending the paint).
Even if you never had the opportunity or time to watch McHale in his prime with the Celtics, that nickname speaks for itself…
• 971 Games played (all with the Celtics)
• 17,335 points (5th in franchise history)
• 7,122 rebounds (6th in franchise history)
• 1,690 blocks (2nd in franchise history)

LET’S GO CELTICS!!!
(I’m excited for the season to start)
Give em hell McHale
Yeah, so many moves. Not really a complaint, but with the focus on the 3, you don’t really see it anymore.
The only person in NBA history that comes close to McHale’s insane post mastery is Jokic, but Kevin just WRECKED defenders. Tied them up in knots. Demoralized them with indefensible moves. SO MANY “and 1s”.
