Paul George on Anthony Edwards’ comment about Jordan’s ” You gotta pay dues to those dudes that did it before us.”

“I thought it was kind of disrespectful to the game. I thought it was a very immature comment… How much the game has grown… You gotta pay dues to those dudes that did it before us.”

ANT thinks he’s funny and tries to be funny but in reality people are laughing at him not laughing with him.

man, season can’t start soon enough.

  3. HeavenlySkip

We’re still talking about this, huh

  4. FiringSquad3

It’s that and the fact that he’s just blatantly wrong. Like how is Hakeem not skilled? Or Magic Johnson? Larry Bird? John Stockton?

Go and watch Tim Hardaway highlights right now and tell me he wasn’t skilled.

The skill is always better than ever.

The mid and low-tier guys in the 90s and 80s weren’t this good.

Ant has way more aura than the old heads they can’t touch him

I mean, it’s true that they were worse back then. They were skilled for their time, but not skilled in the grand scheme of basketball going forward. So he’s partially correct and partially wrong at the same time.

  8. NBA seems to be the only sport where past generation players disrespect the newer generation players, and fanbase of both gen’s disrespect players of both. I don’t see this happen in other sports like NFL or Tennis.

Edwards was definitely wrong but let’s not act like older gen players don’t constantly disrespect today’s players.

People are taking this way too seriously.

Ant just said what most ppl are scared to say

  11. LakerPupper

Edwards trying to go down that Ja path

  12. SurlyWet

People still acting like Ant put any thought into those words. Seems like pretending. Ant said MJ couldn’t guard him.
It should hardly be content but damn if they’d have that.

The top will always be good.

The only thing that improves with time is the overall skill and talent of the mass.

That does not mean there are walking Kareems, Oscars, Wilts, Russell, Moses, Malones, Kobes, Larrys, Johnsons (an argument can me made here), Shaqs, in the modern world.

Just like there isn’t anyone close to Steph in terms of shooting and endless off-ball stamina combination style of play.

Generational talents are simply that. They come once every couple decades and dominate their peers. You pop them in any timeline and they’ll give you the business all the same.

    Politician P

Should have said “that young fella need to shut the fuck up talking that dumb shit”

I’m not saying Magic wasn’t skilled (that’s ridiculous), but the eras are completely different. Looks at Magic’s 3 point shooting for his first 8 years. Obviously if he played today, it would be better, but the players now are more skilled… and I’m saying this as someone who watched in person MJ, Magic, Barkley play.

Even though Ants personality is always playful and meant to be taken lightly because bro just says anything, I agree with Podcast P

  17. BugO_OEyes

Edwards is a clown. But he is still young, he will learn

  18. BassChanyon

Wrong. Them old heads don’t give a fuck about the new generation until they fall out of the spotlight.

  19. elp44blue

It’s all about respect and it goes both ways old school shouldn’t be saying the new school wouldn’t make it in their era and new school don’t call the ones that paved the way for you plumbers

  20. thefamousroman

He saying this cuz he saw Bird sink in a 3 at 99 years of age in slippers. Good man.

  21. Substantial-Song6418

When Michael Jordan starts wearing “Edward’s”, he can talk…..

  22. EnthusiasmBright1495

He sure talks a lot for being a nobody.

Kind of disrespectful? It was very disrespectful. If it wasn’t for Russell, Wilt, Oscar, Jerry West, Dr J, Kareem, Magic and Bird the NBA probably wouldn’t have been there for MJ. And then if it wasn’t for MJ, NBA basketball wouldn’t have grown worldwide. I mean the man is the original. He is the reason why marketing teams realized they can use players to sell BS items and make money. And then shoe deals. Wilt said it best “I think players today should be giving Michael 10% of there contracts.” And of course MJ still thanked and acknowledged all those guys before him. Anthony has a lot of maturing to do and a lot of film to watch on those guys.

And shooting 3s doesn’t equal more skilled or better. 3s have made players and the game overall lazy and boring to watch. There’s a reason why ratings are dropping. All these guys are getting hundreds of millions for playing with a ball and it’s comments like his that make normal people call NBA players spoiled bitches

Jordan in today’s league would be Jimmy Butler.
