Celtics WAIVING Lonnie Walker? + Oshae Brissett NOT Ruling Out Boston In NBA Free Agency
Boston Celtics rumors are focused on NBA free agents. The Celtics signed Lonnie Walker to an exhibit 10 deal where Walker will be able to compete for the final roster spot on the Boston Celtics 15-man roster. However, The Athletic Shams Charania thinks the Boston Celtics may end up waiving Lonnie Walker ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season. NBA free agent Oshae Brissett made an appearance in the city of Boston this weekend and posted on his blog, BrizzyTV, he is not officially done with the Celtics just yet. NBA Free Agent Oshae Brissett comments on returning to the Boston Celtics:
“Walking around the streets of Newbury Street (in) Boston, getting a little sad. Cause who knows? Like I said, door’s not closed but we’re right here. The thought of not coming back is crazy, you feel me? … I just thought I’d get it off my chest to let you know. Boston, the city of Boston, again, I adore you. I love you.”

“The Celtics are adding Lonnie Walker IV to their roster, league sources tell me. Those sources say the 25-year-old guard will be brought in on an Exhibit 10 contract, which allows Boston to give Walker a bonus if he is waived after training camp and plays for the team’s G League affiliate in Maine. I’m told there’s a chance Walker is waived after camp to keep Boston’s 15th roster spot open going into the season.”

No wonder why. Lonnie isn’t signed makes me wonder what does he have in his contract that makes him unsigned-able, he’s probably. Have the same issues with other teams to because he should of been signed hmmm
It's a money thing. Walker gets his bonus after being waived after training camp, gets a guaranteed contract in Maine where he plays for 60 days, then gets promoted to the regular team with a standard (or maybe non guaranteed) 1 year veteran minimum. All in all, Walker would actually earn more than the veteran minimum. It's Brads way of circumventing the loss of the Mid Level Exemption.
