I do not think you want to emulate Lacob lately. An egotistical and nepotistic boss who has gotten too involved and put his own pet projects ahead of his super star champion which has cost this team the chance to compete in 4 out of the last 5 years.
If you want to emulate Lacob, emulate what he did from 2012-2017. Hire someone smarter than you, like he did with Jerry West, and just get the fuck out of the way and sign the checks. And then do something Lacob did not do, support your smarter than you hire instead of pushing him out the door to promote your nepotistic children.

Make sure some moronic owners/GMs are positioned ahead of you when a generational, game-changing, charismatic talent with a strong NBA pedigree is available on the draft board.
