I know one thing, Klay will shoot better than THJ did and he will play better defense than THJ did. I’m amazed at how there’s a false narrative being put together about Klay having horrible defense. Nick said last week that he was surprised that looking at synergy Klay’s defense was surprisingly better than it had been reported by him. I thought Klay was brought into replace THJ’s bricks and Naji and Grimes were brought in to replace DJJ’s point of attack defense? If Dallas rose in the defensive rankings AFTER the Gafford/Washington acquisitions why are we acting like DJJ was on the all-defensive team from last season when Washington literally helped elevate the team defense? And why can’t we say it’s safe to assume that a fairly decent defensive player like Klay who’s been a good defensive player throughout his career won’t be somewhat elevated on the defensive end due to Gafford and rim protectors like Gafford and Lively? It’s like the concerned conversation about Klay’s lack of defense is something falsely made up? Again Klay will play better defense and shoot better than THJ. Now I’m wondering why aren’t there shows about Klay being a better shooter and defender as well as a bigger bodied player than THJ? It looks like intentional disrespect to Klay to create a false narrative? I call a ball a ball and a strike a strike. Nick just said a few days ago that Klay’s defensive numbers on synergy were better than he expected? I think it’s time to have a show on what happens if Klay can average 15/16pts in 29 minutes and have shooting averages of 44% from the field 38% from 3 and 85% from the FT.
Klay is still a much better defender than Charlie wants to give credit. You have to take what most GS fans say with a grain of salt because they are still very salty that Klay left

It's all pro over THJ. No negative. Average last year Klay beats Boston. We have the defensive pieces to keep a fresh body in front of 2-3 shooters. 4-5 require Luka and Kyrie. Boston requires 4-5.
I don't have that concern about Klay at all. First, I think the main thing wasn't about coming off the bench but much more like, Green has done so many effed up things and he still got a $100M/4yr extension but he didn't get that courtesy from the Warriors, and I totally get where he is coming from.
As for his role, it's a new page, I think that just like Kyrie, he is coming to the Mavs open to whatever it's needed of him, otherwise, if his ego was so big, why would he accept less money than the market was offering? Plus, his biggest EFF YOU to the warriors would be to win a championship without them.

Hard to imagine anyone averaging 18/game with Luka and Kyrie knocking down 50ish between them. That said, 12-15/game gives Lukai more space and fewer minutes on court. Both of these are good things for their longevity and fitness for the playoffs. So Klay gets 20-25 minutes because we've got one of the deepest benches (for guards) in the league. Having Klay on the court in crunch time is very desirable.
BTW, if Klay is "statue material" as Steve Kerr says, then why not make a real effort to keep him around? Signing Draymond to his $100,000,000 deal in spite of his antics was a real message to Klay who was offered half that.

Well his defensive rating was 118 last year. He's 35 with bad injuries in the past. Was a GS Legend and was replaced by a rookie.
The real question is…Would you trade Klay for that rookie (cause GS wouldn't). And if he's not as good as he is. Is the Hype(which it is) way more than that rookie (for mavs fans) Drastically overblown.
I think he's a great and better chucker THJ fit. but not much else(but still very much needed)
