Kobe and Dwade were dominant scorers, and it’s their mid range threat that made them so hard to guard because they could cook you from just about any spot on the court. Funny how Shaq basically dissed two of his best teammates who had jump shooting play styles integral to their championship runs.

Shaq couldn’t shoot. He was fat and 7’1”. If he couldn’t bully his way to the basket then he would be a blip on the NBA radar. He was not as a good a defender as he should have been either.

Headlines for this make Shaq look like a hater and some of the sum ups borderline misquote him. I may get downvoted for this but I don’t think what he actually said is very controversial.
He’s not saying Wemby won’t be great or dominant. He’s saying if you’re mostly shooting jumpers you will see hot and cold streaks because it’s just not as consistent as a 7’5” player staying in the paint.
Shaq is aware Wemby can do both. From Shaq’s perspective of course he thinks a typical center role is strongest and more consistent. I don’t think he would deny that the greatest threat to opponents is that Wemby can do both, making him a nightmare for opponent defense.

People like Shaq feeds on posts and discussions like this one, it’s how he stays relevant. He knows exactly what he’s doing: say some outlandish shit, generate anger, get people to post about you. Reddit and other social media sites have a terrible problem with giving these type of desperate people clinging to relevancy attention because they want to make fun of what they said or disagree, but in reality you’re just giving them what they want: a platform and discussion underneath it.
That’s my two cents. Ignore this weirdo who can’t stand the fact there’s a young kid being discussed instead of him. There’s nothing worse for people with egos like Shaq than just simply being ignored

Last I checked, Wemby does it all. More than Giannis or even KD, and he’s only gonna be a sophomore. Shaq is just worried someone is gonna pass him up once again in popularity. And I love Shaq but I don’t know why he has to be so harsh at times.
