NBA beat writer Mat Issa on Mavs’ pickup of Quentin Grimes: “One of the biggest fleeces of the 2024 offseason (that no one seems to be talking about) is the trade that made Quentin Grimes a member of the Dallas Mavericks.”
I’ve been watching a bunch of Knicks Grimes games from last season, and from what I can tell he’s about a lateral move from Josh Green. Hopefully i’m wrong and he crushes it and surpassed all expectations. But from what I see we are basically getting a JG replacement.
Which would also be great, since I loved JG.

He is so good that he fell of the Knicks rotation after having a horrid season and was traded to one of the worst teams in NBA history in this years Detroit Pistons.
Dont get me wrong, he is not trash, but for us he will have more or less the same impact as Josh Green did.

Nico Harrison’s eye for talent is the biggest reason this franchise has been able to have the turnaround it did. Trading away KP for Spencer Dinwiddie, fans cried, but it ended up being a fantastic trade. Trading for Kyrie, analysts said it would never work and fans were skeptical, fantastic trade. Signing DJJ when everyone thought he had one foot out of the league. Trading for Gafford and PJ Washington, fantastic trades. The only dud so far is Christian Wood. There is no doubt that Grimes and Marshall are going to be legitimate contributors. Everyone wondered how a Nike Executive would translate as an NBA GM, the answer is clear. This dude loves ball as much as the biggest fantastics do.

Grimes is a steal for the Mavs , he can defend and is really good vs close outs

I really dig the grimes pickup and the Naji pickup. I think those two wings offer complimenting skill sets to the rest of the mavs. I think our overall spacing will be better and Grimes is a better shooter than Green and Naji too (assuming he can keep up his last season shooting splits which I think he can).
