Tim Duncan although not being a Defensive Player of the Year is a great blocker & ferocious rebounder

As good as he was, seemed like “washed” Timmy seemed to be even better on D. Guess that’s an effect of him just having the luxury to focus on D.

Good enough to make all defense 15 times.

Arguably didn’t get DPOY because he played with Bruce Bowen etc.

He was such a good anchor and elite defender that he didn’t just protect the rim.

He really if ever made a mistake, never got caught out of position, never got exposed- it just didn’t happen.

You could always count on him.

Additionally he would captain and coach the hell out of the Defenze pretty much from the jump,

“Watch out for this move, get your ass back, don’t bite that fake, etc etc”

From the moment he got on the spurs they became a top 3 defense and stayed that way for nearly 10 years straight and then turned into a top 5.

He played full energy both sides and just didn’t miss a beat.

None of it was bs stat padding it was the hard grimy grind shit even as a superstar which you just don’t see.

For his entire career the spurs only finished out the top 10 ONCE.

You could not grind the guy down or get into his head.

Will probably never see a defender like that.

Cool video. So they robbed him of *three* blocks in the 2003 Finals? Jesus, why can’t they go back and correct it? They absolutely should, considering it robbed him of having the only quad double in Finals history.
